What is everyone's thoughts on Shane being a 'walk away'? I just keep feeling like he may have wanted to disappear. It kind of reminds me of the Ben McDaniel disappearance (the Vortex diver) where there is proof of being in/near the water but no body is found in the water.

Baffling case. Expert divers too!

Sorry, just trying to catch up. I got a little behind here and don't have time at the moment to go back too far. What is this about his debit card being found???? Thanks in advance :)

According to the story told to us, Apparently the card was found on the ground, given to Kildare's staff and then Kildare's told the family/LE that they did not have it, but later gave it to Shane's family friend [kevinc]. Here is a synopsis of the story being told to us.

His Family and LE went to Kildare's and asked for it and Kildare's denied having it. As Dectpac stated I went to Kildare's with Shane's cousin and as a person who works in the business asked for the manager. I told her that the story about the card and she turned it over to me. I immediately notified Law Enforcement and turned it over given a statement as to how I obtained it.

I also don't believe it's too risky to throw keys in a river after the fact. It would take what?...quarter of a second to toss?...and besides there was no cameras-it would be very easy to do. The keys were also in the water where no trees, branches or debris to block a direct hit. That's too convenient.
I would seriously find it hard believe that Shane had this streak of bad luck all in the same hour, he went missing.
He lost his cousin, his phone died. He never met back up with friends. His debit card is dropped on the floor. He got kicked out...No one saw him after 1:50- except the camera with that busy sidewalk and his keys end up in a river 10-30 feet out in the river, where there are no trees & brush. It reminds me of a movie....

If indeed the keys were discovered 20' - 30' from the bank that likely places the entry point (assuming Shane had possession of his keys the entire evening) farther north, which explains LE's initial river searches being farther north (toward Green Lane Bridge) than seemed 'right'.

Yes they were searching farther north at the GLB... People were talking, saying maybe suicide or thrown off. I was around there and was wondering why they were searching upstream- but, correct me if I'm wrong. That was before they found the keys.

I missed the fact that Shane's debit card was found in Kildare's. Did they explain how, when and why? Or maybe link to an article?

Many thanks!

No link... Read #64

Thanks a mil.

Any indication at what time the card was found? Before or after the time that Shane went missing?

The card found on the ground, together with the fact that his keys were found in the river, really seems to me to indicate that someone was involved in his disappearance. Too many strange occurrences for his disappearance to be an accident.

I am just curious as to what your theory is on foul play? It would have to be someone already in the parking lot. I think Shane had two sides IMO. When someone has substance issues, none of the above losing debit cards, walking away from places, being escorted out of bars, separating from friends. This is a day in the life. I not it sounds unusual and definitely raises red flags for me but unforunately I have been around people with addictions and I mean they disappear for days at a time, they are always losing their belongings, getting themselves in odd situations, etc. I do find Kildaire's very suspicious I wholeheartedly believe they should be shut down just from the yelp reviews alone and their behavior in the Kayla Peter case and now Shane's case. But I also lean towards an accident or self-harm due to Shane's own words and pictures alone.

Yes. Canal searches began the early days, with river focus ramping up toward when and after the keys were recovered.

As time passes the more I am leaning toward suicide and I have a feeling LE and / or the family also feel that is the case.

I find it strange that first they said they did't have his debit, and then they give it to Kevin.

I will say when I look at pictures of that parking lot,,,,, if someone fell in the river while alone at night it looks more like a suicide than accident.

I just wish they had a better piece of evidence than just keys for him being in the water, like cadaver dogs picking up the scent.

You may very well be right, Jonsey. I believe half of the people are duplicitous. I myself have two sides--- but, fortunately for me my other side doesn't have a drug problem.
I have seen no indication of "hard" drug use or heard of any such measures- I am not close with the Montgomerys as you are. I don't know their family secrets. I just have no way of knowing if he had an addiction.
I believe 100 percent he was a heavy marajuana smoker, and although it is a drug... Don't crucify me, but- I believe it's harmless. Frankly, it should be legal. Most of my friends, and believe me- are up in age...even in their 70's smoke. They do not however, announce it in a joking manner on FB or Twitter like Shane did. IMO, this shows the level of immaturity. Indolent behavior perhaps, but I haven't seen anything about any other substance.
Unless, you mean alcoholism. Substance abuse is rather vague, I'm not quite sure I know what your referring to- so I tried to cover the bases.

With the amount of crumbs we have for clues. It's more logical for me to buy- he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Met up with a bad person. Then to buy he had a series of coincidal bad luck, it all dominoed simultaneously...
Could it have happened?... Anything is possible. When I stand in the lot and stare at the water like others have- I can't see it, maybe I'm too cynical... But, this isn't about me. It's just a gut feeling or instinct.
The way I view it- it's really hard to just fall in the river- I think even if you tried it would be hard.
I'm stuck. Im stuck on foul play. That's just me. Most people on here believe it's an accident, so the odds are stacked in that favor.

I know your struggling back & forth... I see you waver. It's understandable, it's okay.
It's not an easy situation. I've been bought to tears and I've never met him. Until, we find Shane all we have on our side is hope. Hope that he will turn up, don't even rule out a miracle- they do happen. I haven't given up completely, so do me a favor and don't you give up either.

Well said as Always. I am one of the few who concur but would not be surprised at anything at this point. The only reason I have suicide ranked as my second theory over accident is that it just looks so hard to fall in.

In a completely unrelated topic, I bought a ping-pong set today and it only came with the pong....very odd. LOL.

Well, think about pings... What are pings anyway - the balls?.... Um, is the universe trying to tell you something?.... Joking of course!!!!!:loveyou:

Sometimes, unexplained things just happen. An accident, much like this case.

I don't know...I kind of associate all those bad luck things with being intoxicated and not fully in control of himself. Someone else posted that his friends are probably the best judge of his actions when drinking/smoking and I agree. They would know if he normally loses things, takes off alone, texts a lot, etc. I know people who function very well and remain very organized. Then there are people like me who tend to misplace things (even without drinking). When I lived in that area and went out to bars in Manayunk /Center city - I cannot tell you how many credit cards and debit cards I left at the bar or completely lost. Some I would find the next day shoved in a pocket but most were left at the place or in a cab. I lost 2 cell phones in a cab and had to call every cab company in the phone book to no avail. One cabbie actually came back to the place he dropped us off at to return the 3rd one. I also used to text a lot so my phone would go dead frequently when I was out. I won't even mention losing keys in a booth or out of a jacket. My apartment complex had lock-out service and I was a frequent user. They say God protects drunks and little children and I can attest to both. This case resonates with me not only because of the area but because this could have been me or my friends.
