Recovered/Located CA - Cecil Knutson (dec'd), Dianna Bedwell (inj'd), Valley Ctr, 10 May 2015

Looking at a map, I think they took Hwy 76 to Hwy 79 (79 takes you over the mountain and into La Quinta). They may have turned onto 79 and continued and missed the turn to stay on 79 and instead went straight, which would lead them to where they were found.
I've driven in the area and I think I would have gone that way instead of all the way west and around.

There is no way to go straight at the turn. The road ends and you can only turn left or right.

Once you get on 79 it does not fork. It looks like they would have had to turn on to Chihuahua Valley road. It's a deliberate right turn and leads to dirt back roads by the scout camp.
But there is no way to know why they did. There was nothing back there if they needed help. And had they gone just a couple miles up they would have found a gas station on 79.

I didn't say 79 forks. I believe they could have gone straight on the road to the reservation instead of staying on 79. Dirt road, paved road I don't know, but there is a road. Like I said, I wish I could post my map.

These articles don't mention if they were with their car. I wish someone would update us. I pray it's them, and I pray it's not.... =/

Earlier today, a white vehicle was located outside of Warner Springs near the Schoepe Scout Reservation at Lost Valley. A male was found deceased and a female was air lifted to a local hospital. At this time we are we are not confirming this could be that of missing Cecil Knutson and Dianna Bedwell, a confirmation will not be made until the family has heard from law enforcement. We ask that you continue to keep the family in your prayers and they wait for confirmation from law enforcement.

This is the map they linked on this MSM page:

Thank you. :(

OOPs, I see what you mean. I had not zoomed in close enough to see that they would have had to turn right. I still think that is what happened. They had had a very long day even before they set off on this drive.

With the direction they took. 76 ends at 79. There is no way to go straight. Once they turned left on 79, any turn into the reservation would be a right turn. I drive that road a couple times a year to go to Indio for singing contests.

If they had turned right at 79 towards Santa Isibell, yes there is a road that can curve into the Santa Isibell res. Its a left off the road, but still hard to mistake, but that would also be in a diff direction from where they were found and about 5-6 miles east of there.

If she is still alive...I'm not a very religious person but it sounds like her sister was looking out for her up there.

If this is them, I will assume they ran out of gas, which is why the simply did not turn the car around and backtrack.

It's possible. But there is actually a gas station about 1 mile before they would get to the turn to Chihuahua Valley Road. And they went pretty far up Chihuahua Valley road. Had they just turned around it would be much shorter back to that gas station.

Breaking news just came across the local news here in Palm Desert. They said they were found and Cecil was deceased and Dianna is in a hospital. They did not say where they were found or if there was an accident or what condition Dianna is in. The local news said that they contacted the son out here locally and he stated that authorities have not notified them. I am so sorry, I cannot find a link, it was just on my local news.

Yes, and from the latest post on the Facebook group. It looks like it was them.

"A man was found dead and a woman was taken to the hospital just outside of Warner Springs near the Schoepe Scout Reservation at Lost Valley. This is being investigated as the possible missing Orange County couple Dianna Bedwell and her husband, Cecil Knutson. Knutson and Bedwell were last seen leaving the Valley View Casino in Valley Center on Mother's Day, May 10th. Relatives say they were on their way to their son's home in La Quinta but never arrived

We called their son, who says he has not yet been contacted by authorities.

Stay with News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 as we continue to follow this developing story."

I can't imagine being stuck in a car with your dead loved one for so long :(

I must have been an accident, I can't imagine how Dianna survived for 2 full weeks. This is awful.
