What is happening in this case? I read the above blog and then nothing more? I searched the net and found nothing else.

Why does Judge just have the defendant view the proceedings from an enclosed room via skype, because of,his out bursts and let a real lawyer handle the defense? This trial is a real mess.

And finally, photographs of what lay underneath the filth: the decaying bodies of the same women.

Grim Sleeper Trial. Closing Arguments

"...After spending another 5 hours on this Blog last night, my computer crashed and might have lost all my writing. I will be taking my computer in to Apple today and hope for the best. "Los Angeles (CNN)Lonnie David Franklin, Jr., a one-time garbage truck driver and LAPD garage attendant, was found guilty Thursday of murdering nine women and one girl over a span of three decades, making him one of the most prolific serial killers in California history.

Jurors took less than two days to convict Franklin of all charges against him, including the attempted murder of a woman who survived a 1988 attack. He was dubbed "The Grim Sleeper" because of a 13-year gap between slayings attributed to him.

Porter Alexander Jr. wants to see the convicted murderer face the same fate his daughter did.

The 75-year-old once wondered if he would live to see the day when Franklin was convicted. He attended court religiously for even the most mundane hearings so Franklin could feel his presence.

"He took a limb from me and every time I look she's missing and can never be replaced," he said. "I don't care how many pictures I have on the wall, or all the things I see around me, doesn't bring her back.".."

​LAPD believe 'Grim Sleeper' serial killer never actually slept
Vivian Williams had long given up hope that her sister's slaying would be solved when she flipped on her television and saw news about a serial killer nicknamed the Grim Sleeper.

As she watched Los Angeles police detectives raid a green house on 81st Street, a sickening feeling overcame her. Williams realized she had been to the home many times, dropping off her sister, Georgia Mae Thomas, to visit a boyfriend, Lonnie.

"He did it, he did it!" she yelled to her husband. "I know he did it."

That man, Lonnie David Franklin Jr., was convicted Thursday in the killings of nine women and a 15-year-old girl.

Though Thomas was not included in that group of victims, prosecutors are preparing to present her case and those of four others also believed murdered by Franklin in the trial's penalty phase, set to begin Thursday.

In doing so, authorities are challenging a central narrative of one of L.A.'s most notorious serial killers, whose first murder took place in 1985 and last known case occurred in 2007. Franklin was dubbed the Grim Sleeper for an apparent gap of more than 14 years between killings, from 1988 to 2002.

Authorities believe the Grim Sleeper never really slept, and that Thomas' slaying in 2000 helps prove that.

"I don't think he stopped killing," said LAPD Det. Daryn Dupree, the last remaining detective who worked on the task force that arrested Franklin.

In all, investigators believe Franklin is responsible for at least 25 slayings, including 11 that took place during the supposed dormant period that led to his sobriquet.

The five victims that prosecutors will present in the penalty phase bring to the forefront strong cases that Franklin was not charged with.

Now is when they should offer to drop the death penalty if he identifies others that he's murdered, etc...recover bodies that's missing. If he refuses, then fry his *advertiser censored*.

This really makes me mad as hell!!! My 14 yr old could blatantly see a pattern here. They should've been able to pin point him YEARS ago based on the dumpings!!! LAPD pricks, and I'm an officer.

I'd love to see a map with other body locations found in the area. That should be their starting point for more links to him.

I wish there was a way to get a full and accurate confession out of Lonnie Franklin. Unfortunately, I highly doubt a deal to take the death penalty off the table would be effective. Being 63 and being sentenced in California, even if he does get sentenced to death, he probably knows it's effectively simply a life sentence. Chances of him actually living to an execution date are slim to none.
