Smich told Daly it was his personal gun in the toolbox, Leitch says. He "perhaps" buried that gun, Leitch says. #Bosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 58s58 seconds ago
Smich tried to sell murder weapon to friend of Daly. But couldn't get the right price. "And perhaps, buried that gun never to be recovered."

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 49s49 seconds ago
"Mark Smich got rid of that gun around May 18, 2013, a few days before he was arrested," Leitch says. #Bosma

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 1m1 minute ago
He says he was getting rid of evidence that would implicate him and Dellen Millard in the murder of Tim #Bosma.

Lisa Hepfner ‏@HefCHCHNews 1m1 minute ago
Smich took the gun he admitted was his, and perhaps he buried it, Leitch says. Getting rid of evidence implicating both accused

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 49s50 seconds ago
"He buried the gun used to kill Tim Bosma...We submit he destroyed the gun because it would implicate he and Millard in the crime."

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 43s43 seconds ago
Leitch says another piece of evidence linking Smich to the gun was a photo of Smich holding it, found on Millard's computer. #Bosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 28s28 seconds ago
Photo on Millard computer that was from backup of Mark's iPad shows Smich holding gun. Smich admitted it is him in photo.

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 45s45 seconds ago
(it was on Millard's computer, but got there from a back-up by Mark's iPad, Leitch explains). #Bosma

Lisa Hepfner ‏@HefCHCHNews 31s31 seconds ago
One photo has Mark Smich in background holding a gun; he admitted on the stand that it is him

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 15s15 seconds ago
Smich admitted it is Walther PPK belonging to Millard and he borrowed it for photo. Crown says it belonged to both of them.

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 49s50 seconds ago
Leitch says that Smich insisted it was Millard's gun, and he just borrowed it for photos. #Bosma

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 39s40 seconds ago
"Do you really believe this? Or was it their gun?" Leitch asks. #Bosma

Lisa Hepfner ‏@HefCHCHNews 46s46 seconds ago
Does the jury really believe it was Millard's gun? Or was it their gun? Leitch asks

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 16s16 seconds ago
Millard has the Eliminator. They have a gun. And Millard is trying for a second one. Crown says they are prepping for mission.

olly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 28s29 seconds ago
Millard has the Eliminator, they had a gun...and they continued to find the "right target for their longstanding plan," Leitch says. #Bosma

I am confused to figure out how DM andMS were actually planning to steal a truck.
They admitted, they wanted to steal atruck. I don't believe either of the two were capable to mobilize that truck without a key. Why was that never brought up?
So what other options did they have? They needed the keys. They planned to murder someone. Sure didn't take them long to conclude to use the “incinerator” that DM justso happened to have, after the gun was discharged.

I do believe they had a plan, it's possible TB put up a fight and messed up their plan. We will never know.
These two accused I do think, felt they were invincible and would be able to cover their tracks. And didn't expect LE and the media to to be on their trail as fast and hard as they did.

Keystone robbers comes to mind of these two dimwits.
Guilty as charrged.

And the main advantage having a Diesel vs Gas engine has little to do with fuel economy. Both about the same with Diesel have slightly better mileage. Not enough to recover the extra cost of the Diesel option, on average of a $12,000 extra.
The main advantages of a Diesel are more power (torque/hp), engine built stronger (lasts longer) and Diesel fuel is usually cheaper then unleaded gas.

Smich says "perhaps" Smich buried the gun never to be recovered. "Mark Smich got rid of that gun around May 19, 2013 ... he buried the gun used to murder Tim Bosma. The gun in a toolbox, in a forest. Getting rid of evidence that would implicate him and Dellen Millard."
by Adam Carter 11:05 AM

Leitch running through some of the other texts here too, like the aborted attempt to get lawn mowers, and swiping the Bobcat.
by Adam Carter 11:07 AM

Leitch says when Millard wanted to steal something, he took precautions. It also shows he wanted to take what he wanted without paying. "He just liked to steal things ... he liked to steal, but he now planned to kill as well. Increasing the challenge, and the thrill of it."
by Adam Carter 11:08 AM

Tested on a deer... I want to know the date of that text!

I understand the Crown dancing around the dates a bit. He isn't allowed to mention Laura.

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 40s40 seconds ago
In Oct 2012, Smich and Millard stole a Bobcat in the middle of the night, w friends. There were lookouts, walkie talkies. #Bosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 34s34 seconds ago
Theft of Bobcat organized by Millard. "When he wanted to steal something, took precautions not to be caught."

Lisa Hepfner ‏@HefCHCHNews 32s32 seconds ago
Oct 2012 saw at least two big heists, when a Bobcat was stolen. They used walkie talkies & lookouts

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 46s47 seconds ago
Leitch says this shows Millard took precautions to not get caught--but also, despite his wealth, "took what he wanted." #Bosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 37s38 seconds ago
Millard was rich, but "He just liked to steal things...Now planned to kill as well. Increasing the challenge and thrill of it," says Leitch.

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 30s31 seconds ago
Leitch says Millard "liked to steal but now planned to kill as well. Increasing the challenge....and the thrill." #Bosma

Lisa Hepfner ‏@HefCHCHNews 33s34 seconds ago
Despite his wealth Millard stole. "He just liked to steal things." The escalation to murder gave him bigger thrill

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 25s26 seconds ago
Wayne Millard's death left Dell with $3.7 million loan to pay off for the hangar.

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 5s6 seconds ago
Leitch says Millard had debts after his dad's death, as illustrated in texts. #Bosma

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 31s32 seconds ago
References again texts to Michalski in April 2013 about needing $100k/month to get out of the hole. And that "dangerous plays' were needed.

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 28s29 seconds ago
Millard to Michalski: needs $100,000/month to get "out of the hole." Says "a lot of dangerous plays must be made first."

It's no excuse, it's a very commonly used word to refer to modifying. Sure he could have been referring to dismemberment, but he could have also been referring to modifying the machine in some way to make it mobile, since it wasn't a mobile unit.

Chopping isn't commonly used in that context. As far as I know it really has two meanings 1) to chop a stolen car in to sellable parts, or 2) to lower the suspension or roofline to create a low-rider. Neither apply to anything you'd do with an incinerator.

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 27s28 seconds ago
Leitch says this shows financial need, and a willingness to commit crimes to get out of his financial hole. #Bosma

Lisa Hepfner ‏@HefCHCHNews 23s24 seconds ago
Millard told Michalski he needed $100k a month to get by. Hard work is one thing, scary work is another & the law is intimidating, he wrote

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 13s14 seconds ago
"This shows financial need & a willingness to commit crimes" to get out of his financial hole, says Crown. "Was under some financial strain.

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 34s35 seconds ago
Millard and Smich took "no precautions" not to get caught, at the #Bosma residence that night. There are no walkie talkies. Only 2 involved

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 37s37 seconds ago
Only two people involved in Tim #Bosma murder. "The two people on trial," says Crown.

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 20s20 seconds ago
He says again the plan was to murder, leaving no witness as to who could identify them. #Bosma

Lisa Hepfner ‏@HefCHCHNews 36s36 seconds ago
The night #TimBosma was killed the plan was different. They didn't need to cover faces bc plan was to kill witness

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 19s19 seconds ago
Oct. 8, 2012. More text references about 3500 mission between Smich and Millard. "We be takin' anything we need," raps Smich.

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 28s28 seconds ago
He says they liked to steal it and their plans were escalating--building the challenge and the thrill. #Bosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 12s12 seconds ago
"Bigger financially and a bigger thrill payoff" were planned, says Crown.

Tested on a deer... I want to know the date of that text!

I understand the Crown dancing around the dates a bit. He isn't allowed to mention Laura.

Ya, tested on "Dear Laura" more likely.

Leitch says Millard was under financial strain, but chose to steal things when he didn't have to.
by Adam Carter 11:11 AM

"These two thefts were planned so as to ensure no one could identify those involved ... whereas the murder of Tim Bosma needed no such precaution."
by Adam Carter 11:12 AM

Leitch says Millard was preparing for this crime in March 2013, referencing texts to Michalski.
by Adam Carter 11:14 AM

No it does not make sense... for one killing.
However, neither the gun, nor the incinerator, were disposable items. So the capital cost could be amortized across multiple homicides. If LE had not caught DM and MS, they would have continued.
LB, TB, Victim c,Victim d,Victim e,Victim f,Victim g etc, bigger more dangerous missions per DM to AM.

So true ... Perhaps they were even planning on selling their services to other criminal gangs to "disappear" people/bodies, thus collecting the $100,000 a month from that enterprise?

Lisa Hepfner ‏@HefCHCHNews 32s33 seconds ago
Millard and Smich talked about taking anything they want or need in their messages. Smich rhymed about it even, to Millard approval

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 10s11 seconds ago
March 2013. Millard asks Schlatman re: material costs on BBQ. Leitch says this is significant bc shows Eliminator is referred to as "BBQ."

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 29s29 seconds ago
March 2013, Millard asking Schlatman in text about cost of BBQ trailer. Significant because it proves Millard refers to Eliminator as BBQ.

Lisa Hepfner ‏@HefCHCHNews 24s24 seconds ago
Millard referred to the incinerator as the "BBQ" in several messages

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 8s8 seconds ago
April 9 2013, Millard texts Michalski re: Baja race and plan to go that year. Leitch says "the timetable is set to obtain the diesel truck."

Lisa Hepfner ‏@HefCHCHNews 33s33 seconds ago
Millard planned to go to the Baja May 2013 & wanted the truck for the trip.

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 30s30 seconds ago
April 9, 2013. Millard texts that he plans to go to Baja. So he needs diesel truck ASAP.

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 30s31 seconds ago
April 27/13. Millard texts Smich he's headed to Waterloo. "Figure out BBQ situation for this week." Then asks Schlatman about the generator.

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 24s25 seconds ago
Millard to Smich: "Headed to Waterloo. Figure out BBQ situation for this week." Then asks Schlatman where the generator is for the BBQ.

Adam Carter ‏@AdamCarterCBC 9s10 seconds ago
Millard then texts Schlatman a text, asking "where is the big generator?" #TImBosma #Bosma

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 22s23 seconds ago
Leitch says this "is surely a reference to The Eliminator....he is readying The Eliminator for the mission." #Bosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 13s14 seconds ago
Crown says the plan to use Eliminator is imminent. "He is readying the Eliminator for the mission, 10 days before" Bosma is murdered.

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes now
The next day, Millard and Schlatman are still discussing the generator and looking for it. #Bosma

April 27, 2013, Millard texts Smich. "Headed to Waterloo, figure out BBQ situation for this week." Millard then texts Schlatman a text, asking "where is the big generator?"
by Adam Carter 11:15 AM

Leitch is going through these texts in an attempt to show the step by step planning before Bosma's death.
by Adam Carter 11:16 AM

"A week before Bosma is abducted, Millard is searching for the generator, so he can get the BBQ, the Eliminator, ready for the mission."
by Adam Carter 11:17 AM

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 32s33 seconds ago
Leitch is walking jury through whole Crown case methodically, telling the story of plan to steal, murder, incinerate. #Bosma

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 26s27 seconds ago
"A week before Tim #Bosma is abducted, Millard is searching for the generator so he can get the BBQ, the Eliminator ready for the mission."

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes now8 seconds ago
Leitch says there was no pets to be cremated, no metal to melt. "He is readying the Eliminator for the final mission." #Bosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 34s35 seconds ago
"No pets were being incinerated. No text references to a deer being destroyed. No metal to be melted."

Lisa Hepfner ‏@HefCHCHNews 31s32 seconds ago
A week before #TimBosma disappears, Millard & Smich made sure the eliminator had power and fuel. No pets were cremated

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 36s36 seconds ago
Leitch says defence has argued the BBQ reference is to a party he was planning that week. Leitch says no need for generator in that case.

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 37s37 seconds ago
And also there would be no reason to go to Waterloo to prepare for a bbq in Etobicoke. #Bosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 40s41 seconds ago
Defence says it is all a reference to a BBQ party Millard holds that week.

Lisa Hepfner ‏@HefCHCHNews 32s33 seconds ago
You don't need a generator for a BBQ party. You don't need to go to Waterloo to plan a party at Maple Gate.

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 42s42 seconds ago
Crown says there was a party, but that doesn't explain generator or Waterloo. This is all about the Eliminator.

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 9s10 seconds ago
Texts about three targets. Whoever was easiest target would be the one killed, says Crown.

"He was readying the Eliminator for the final mission," Leitch says, noting there were no pets to incinerate, or metal to melt.
by Adam Carter 11:18 AM

Leitch reading out more texts, where Smich is asking for tape, gloves and Oxycodone from Millard.
by Adam Carter 11:19 AM

"I thought it was fireworks tonight, but not yet," Smich said in a text on the Saturday. Originally, the plan was to meet Bosma on the weekend, but he couldn't until Monday.
by Adam Carter 11:21 AM

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 12s12 seconds ago
May 3, 2013. Smich texts Millard: "can you bring me gloves, tape and maybe an orange guy?" Smich said this is a ref. to oxycontin pill.

Lisa Hepfner ‏@HefCHCHNews 7s7 seconds ago
Three days before the murder Smich asks for tape & gloves & Oxycontim. Part of his mission kit, Leitch says

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 28s29 seconds ago
Smich asks on May 3 for orange guy, gloves, tape. Crown says part of mission kit. Wanted to meet Bosma May 4, but he wasn't available.

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 25s26 seconds ago
But Leitch says this is a reference to the mission "stuff." They wanted to do #Bosma test drive May 4, but Tim was unavailable.

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 13s14 seconds ago
Smich says in a text he has "fireworks" plans that weekend. Leitch says this is a reference to murder. #Bosma

Lisa Hepfner ‏@HefCHCHNews 10s11 seconds ago
I thought it was fireworks tonight, but it's not yet, Smich writes. Leitch says that's him excited for impending murder

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 35s36 seconds ago
Smich refers to fireworks on May 4. Smich testified he meant actual fireworks. Crown says it's reference to incinerating body in Eliminator.

Something that has been bothering me for a long time:

If the reason DM and MS didn't hide their faces because the plan all along was to eliminate the witness (and that makes sense, if that was the plan), then why did they not go back and harm SN and WDB as well? Of course I'm thankful they did NOT, but they were certainly witnesses as much as Tim was. I know it would only be speculation on any of our parts to answer that but it's just one of those things that has always bothered me because it doesn't add up.

They had to know SB and WDB could identify them, as much as Tim could, right?

I am seeing some contradictions in Leith's closing that don't help his point. He said earlier that Millard didn't hide his faces because he likes to take risks, but here he is saying his likes to take precautions.

They planned out out every detail, but not the details like bringing two people to the door to be seen only to drop one off 500m away to follow in another vehicle.

Or that they planned to do it at the farm but then realized that they had no power. They would have known the eliminator needed power and that the farm had none before that night. And apparently they had had about a week to prepare the generator and bring it to the farm but didn't. They were still left unprepared when it happened, which still makes me think it wasn't a part of the plan.

MS f'ed up, in my opinion. And in his too, I guess.

"Change of plans. Meet up with you Sunday at noon. We've got appointments to make," Millard texted Smich. Leitch says this is a reference to Igor Tumanenko.
by Adam Carter 11:22 AM

Tumanenko was "too much to handle," Leitch says.
by Adam Carter 11:22 AM

Leitch now talking about when Millard switched vehicles for his red truck with his employee Javier Villada.
by Adam Carter 11:23 AM

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 40s40 seconds ago
Millard was "preparing for the mission to kill" on May 4. Tells that to Noudga in text. Tells Smich he'll pick him up May 5 for appointment.

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 34s34 seconds ago
Millard texts Smich on May 4. "Change of plans." Says he'll pick him up the next day (Sunday) to make appointments. #Bosma

Lisa Hepfner ‏@HefCHCHNews 21s21 seconds ago
Millard had mission prep to do on May 4 & invites gf Noudga to come along. Millard had set up test drives

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 39s40 seconds ago
May 5 is Tumanenko test drive. Millard not available that day. Tumanenko spared because "he was too much to handle."

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 36s37 seconds ago
May 5 plan was "to target and kill Igor Tumenenko, if the target and the conditions were right. But he was too much to handle," Leitch says.

Lisa Hepfner ‏@HefCHCHNews 22s22 seconds ago
They would kill Igor Tumanenko if conditions were right but he was too much to handle, Leitch says

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 36s37 seconds ago
On May 4, Millard trades vehicles with his employee Javier Villada. Needs his red truck, bc only one that can pull trailer. #Bosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 36s36 seconds ago
May 4, Millard trades his employee Javier the Yukon for red truck, because the red truck could pull the trailer with stolen truck inside.

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 11s11 seconds ago
Gets Yukon back, so it can pull the Eliminator while red truck pulls trailer.

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 7s7 seconds ago
He originally trades the truck for his Yukon. Then he ends up trading the Yukon back for a white van. So now he has red truck and Yukon.

Lisa Hepfner ‏@HefCHCHNews 28s28 seconds ago
Millard switches vehicles before the test drives & gets Yukon & red truck, which he would need.

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 13s13 seconds ago
On Sunday May 5, Millard texts Smich: "Mission day." #Bosma
