He is in control of her and loving it. He is sick.

Beginning to wonder if this guy's defense is eventually going to be insanity... I can't imagine what sort of rational person would be blabbing about such a crime in these ways to someone else, no matter what their relationship. Yet there's no known history of mental illness.

I think the woman at the vigil with him knew him intimately.
She was very brave to wear a wire tap especially if he had threatened her, but I guess that made her feel safer knowing police were monitoring everything. hopefully they were nearby at all times.
Her only other option would have been to run and hide.

Are there more videos or photos of them together? He's real touchy with her like a girlfriend. Is she the one who gave LE the information?

Hi, first time poster & 20 year Chambana townie here. I've been a true crime lover for years and stumbled on this site when the news of YZ disappearance first broke. I've been lurking all along and I've made a couple observations.
1. On the screenshot of BC's fetlife profile, he describes being mArried AND having a "lovely" girlfriend. <modsnip>
2. I drove from stone gate apts to yz's abduction site this morning. It is stop and go through town, it takes a good 20 minutes to get there. That's a LONG time to fool someone or keep them calm in a vehicle.

:wagon:

We don't yet know, although it seems logical. She is not open for sleuthing at this time. LE has not given us information about who collected the audio evidence from BC.

I don't know when this photo was taken at the event, but it's strange that the woman he is with in the video doesn't seem to be near him in this shot. (Or am I missing her?)

I had the same thought, but just now I stumbled across a picture of him in that same spot WITH the woman:

How is admitting to the crime not evidence. What the heck.

"I would say it's not really evidence at all yet," (Christensen's lawyer) Tom Bruno said.

"One of the founding principles of the American system of justice is the right to confront and cross-examine the witnesses against you. There was certainly no cross examination when it's a one-sided recitation of what the government hopes to prove."

That is really creepy. Had his picture been in the news before the video was shot?

I don't believe so. He was arrested the next day and that's when his picture made the news.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes, this is correct. If he was in his 4th year, he was very likely a PhD candidate. According to this webpage from the university, that happens in the 2nd year of this program: http://physics.illinois.edu/careers-seminar/GradProgramPhysicsIllinoisBrochure.pdf

This was also just his LinkedIn page- not a resume or an official document. It took me 2 months to update my LinkedIn after I switched jobs. He doesn't even have a profile picture. I'm sure he made the page at some point and forgot about it.

ETA: I don't mean literally forgot about it, but just didn't attend to it. He has no activity suggesting he was active on there or trying to misrepresent his experience.

I have never heard of anyone admitted to Ph.D. candidacy at the beginning of the second year. I am going to guess that in this program, students advance to candidacy at the end of the third year, when they do their prelim. From what the UIUC professor said, BC did not make it that far. He still had coursework to take to finish his master's degree.

Video driving from the west side of the gym to Stonegate... don't blink, it's a whole 15 sec ride

Please note the abandoned concrete plant in between BC's apartment complex and the Refinery gym. Which is usually empty and used only for storage by a local apartment company, but there seem to be several cars there today... no official law enforcement presence but if there was itd be all over the news... could be searching the plant quietly?

I've never heard of a Ph.D. program in which candidates don't advance to candidacy before the beginning of the third year. It is puzzling that he still had coursework to do in order to receive his masters degree. Is it possible that he was already enrolled for the semester, and so he was not required but able to take more courses? Maybe it wouldn't have changed the timing of his graduation, so he decided to just take a few courses out of interest, to gain skills, or for lack of anything better to do?
