I have never seen a weaker case than this put on by the state and I am shocked this even made it to trial. NOT GUILTY would be my verdict if I was a juror. The only way I see guilty coming in is if all 12 jurors are basing their judgement on pure emotion with no logic or reasoning behind it. I watched every single second of this trial, took notes, and even transcribed at times. Rewatched various testimonies. There are a ton of holes and contradictions. The timelines don't match up or correlate in driving times that the state is trying to allege. They didn't outline this for they jury because it wouldn't work. Just as their cell data was vanilla in it's presentation, as it doesn't work. Their theory continued to evolve through the trial. I have much to share in my observations but I have literally let my house go to wreck to watch the trial.

I will comment more later with

Why did Justin confess to all of these horrid crimes on national tv, in front of a judge, if all of them are totally innocent?

"No body, no gun". Four months before her skull was found with a bullet hole in it. That's THE statement that I took away from the entire trial. If that stood out to the jury as well, game. Set. Match.

Because he doesn’t have to prove he didn’t do it... the prosecution must prove he did... I hope that helps

However, if there are 8 witnesses who get up and LIE about his involvement, and he is totally innocent, then why wouldn't he want to get on the stand and testify to his innocence?

His best friend sits up there and totally lies, making up a story about a rape and murder, they both committed, and he doesn't want to call him a liar?

Zach could have taken the witness stand and said everything is true, except Jason autry pulled the trigger under the bridge, not me. There would have been reasonable doubt right there. But he didn't take the stand.

JA confess? He kinda didn't - which is part of my problem with his testimony. In HIS account of what happened, he didn't kidnap, he didn't rape, he showed up and most of the crime was done, he did happen to be there when she was "killed" but only as a bystander, and mostly what he did (in his story) wasn't painting himself as a heinous monster. Accompanying his tale, he detoured to try to take gratuitous shots at the others, to paint them as even worse in the eyes of the jury. Added together, it casts a lot of doubt on how factual he really was ...and his honesty (or lack of it) is the core of the state's case.

As for why he didn't just keep quiet, he may have felt that there was enough suspicious evidence that someone might get hung, guilty or not, and he simply didn't want to risk it with DP an option. They were already in jail for quite some time with a trial looming, before he spoke.

His lawyer can do all that for him. Plenty of innocent people don't testify in their own defense. It means nothing regarding one's guilt.

I don't know if zach found Jesus in jail, but he obviously found the buffet table.

135 lbs when he entered! I'm still shocked by that at his height!

Do you think he was close to that weight on April 13, 2011? If so that would explain why Shayne was camo man and he wasn't. Holly, as fiesty as she was, would have cleaned JA's clock! (I mean ZA's!)

I can see why he didn't testify. That is a very risky move that can backfire big time and usually does when the defendant takes the stand.

But what I do question is this. Why wouldn't a totally innocent man exercise his constitutional right to have a speedy trial? What truly innocent person would give up all of their freedoms for years when they knew they could legally go to trial very quickly, and clear their name? Yet he has been content to spend years in jail awaiting trial.

IMO

That would not have exonerated ZA, to testify that. In fact, quite the opposite - it would have hung him.

I'm facing death. And I'm innocent? I'm not leaving that whole situation to a third party to botch. I will absolutely testify.

I just believe his own testimony must be truly worse than what they are saying because otherwise he would be up there.

It bothers me that it was in their opening statement that he had "never laid eyes on her". It's such a bold face lie that it makes me have no sympathy whatsoever for him.

You mean, she would have cleaned ZA, right?

JA being 6' 7" is a beast. No wonder ZA needed his help with the body.

Wasn't that his weight when arrested? I wonder if he was heavier in 2011 - in his fb pic his face didn't look as gaunt as in his mugshot. I wonder if after Holly stress and increased drug use caused weight loss. Pure speculation on my part
