I agree! I think it was someone from that plant they worked at. LE said they talked to people there? Well they need to "investigate" all of them.

It would even be someone that was fired years ago and has been ruminating and plotting ever since. It could be someone casually reporting to work every day still. We just don't know. Such a bizarre case. I keep vacillating between random wacko and some unknown side of the parents life that got them involved with shady people. I just don't have a solid theory on this one, and it is so perplexing!

I'm not sure you are understanding what I'm saying.
Casinos are a hot bed for criminals but especially so on reservation casinos. Somewhere around 40% of ALL US sex trafficking victims are AI or native girls and women. The crime problems on reservations are insanely high (2-7x worse than national average) and prosecutions are insanely low ( 60% of child sexual abuse cases never see a court room).

This really isn't a matter of "don't look at the casino, James doesn't go there." in my opinion. When you are looking at a double murder and kidnapping of a 13yo girl you have to rule in or out the most obvious possible connections.

With a known sex trafficking connections only a few minutes down the road and a casino in that town - You look into that pretty quickly to determine if James OR Denise had been there or not. If they had who did they speak to? Where is that person now?

For Fitzgerald to say he doesn't know if James was there or not is concerning.
I'm not saying I think Jayme was trafficked (because I don't) but I sure would expect that avenue has been properly explored by LE and it doesn't appear it has been by Fitzgeralds comments.

I know this post was written a couple days ago, but I want to respond to it anyway. Hopefully it'll put some theories on the back burner. I just wanted to clarify that Turtle Lake is partially in Barron County and partially in Polk County, but none of it is in St. Croix County. I've never heard of any arrest for any sex crime at the casino, but I've heard of some robberies, drug busts, etc. at the hotel there. The one "crime" I remember hearing about at the casino was back when they got in trouble for removing the aces from the black jack decks. I have no doubt there were others that happened (theft, fights/assault, etc.). I also know that they do have good surveillance there because you'll be escorted out or to an office almost immediately if you pick up a chip/ticket that isn't yours or take anything from a machine that was left there by someone else.MOO

Anyone know how many Jeanie trucks go by house ?? Rough estimate?? Do bulk go by that house before going to farms / supermarket?

Not saying truck driver is likely perp..this job description makes sound like they have no of drivers going to all farms in decent size radius and driver tracks his own work ..

That usually means they work 12 hour shifts, and the days 2 on, 3 off then 3 on, 2 off average out to 5 days a week (4 one week and 6 the next). The starting times for that job would mean they would work noon to midnight, 4 pm to 4 am or somewhere in between. It also means they have someone doing that job during those same hours on opposite days, the same days on opposite hours (midnight to noon, etc.) and opposite days with opposite hours. How many drivers there are on each shift would depend on the size of the trucks and the amount of feed being transported. I don't really see it being the driver, but by the time someone on the midnight to noon shift finished loading, paperwork, etc., he could be passing the house about the the time of the murders. I don't want to place blame where it doesn't belong, but I wonder when that position opened up. MOO

Great piece of digging Mistermagoo! That photo certainly suggests how the perp could have killed Mr. Closs very quickly. The perp pounds on the door, screaming about a terrible car crash on the highway. Mr. Closs looks through the window in the door, and the perp shoots him through the window. Next step, kick in the door. Mrs. Closs had probably already started dialing 911 and the perp shot her. Maybe he knows the house, goes straight to Jayme's room, grabs her, subdues her, then out the door to his vehicle. Total time in residence, a few minutes.

If James was shoot through the window, would the china cabinet behind him have been intact?

I keep thinking about the 2 vehicles of interest, i wonder why LE limited it to just two? We know the 911 call ended at 12.54 am and that police were there at 1.00 am so the perp(s) would presumably have left the property at 12.55 or just after. We know the Sheriff stated they were looking for vehicles of interest between 12.30 - 1.30 but surely any vehicles seen on CCTV nearest to the Closs home around 12.55 or just afterwards should have been treated as suspicious, no matter how innocuous they might have seemed. What was it about these 2 vehicles that stood out to LE that night?

Agree. Most truckers who kill pick up their victims hitchhiking or at truck stops or rest areas. I don't think Jayme fits their usual victim profile either. Not impossible, but improbable IMO.

I live in Texas and some may think our laws are lenient, but I believe they are logical. Truth is I only know I would not go to the door late night or early morning without a way to protect myself. I don't believe James Closs would either unless he knew the people at the door.
I just pray I never have to face that situation. A very scary thing.

I used to think this, until the other night. We had storms in our area, they knocked out our power around 8:00pm. At 11:00pm we still had no power and someone bangs on our front door. Startled us, greatly. Hubby didn’t even think, he went to the door and hollered through the door, “Who is it?” Turns out it was the electric company, letting us know they were going to be in our backyard. In the moment, being startled, grabbing a weapon never even crossed our minds.

The longer this goes on the more my initial thoughts are turning to opinion. Barron has a huge meth problem>meth arrests of people very near the Closs home (brings other users to the area so exposure of family and home OR local user didn't pay, ripped off, or made someone angry enough to find the users home and burst in but wrong house since specific homes are hard to find even on google maps> possibly someone in meth rage so no motive needed (I've seen cases that are so similar to this and much harder to find perp/s)> burst in home kill mom and dad>people involved with drugs have a silent network of who knows who and what they are involved in even if they never met>someone may have decided Jayme could be valuable. Many more possible scenarios with theses factors as well. Little or no evidence due to being in and out within minutes and not the result of careful planning. All that said I am hoping LE has an idea of who they are looking for. Possibly needing some type of evidence to back them up to move forward?
Different type of crime so just mentioning. I was a little surprised at the number of child sex sting operations that have been going on for some time un that area(google Barron sex sting operation).

There are people who have a strange outlook on life that perceive grievances when no one else would even see a grievance.

Years ago, before cell phones, there was a guy that someone was going to bring to a party. The driver, who was going to bring the guy to the party, broke down in the middle of nowhere . He was unable to pick up the guy to bring him to the party.

The guy who was supposed to get the ride was enraged. No amount of logical explanation would sway him in his perception that it was a deliberate act.

The perceived problem could be so nothing that it would not register on anyone’s radar.

Is it possible that someone started kicking the door in and he rushed to it to see what was happening and made it there around the time the door was finally kicked in?

Yes, but he had guns in the home. If I was investigating loud noises on my front porch in the middle of the night, I'd take my gun with me.

Yes, the timing suggests he was tracked. The fact they waited until he was inside -along with the wife- makes this appear to be a very personal attack. Where they were shot could further reinforce the personal nature of the attack. (Such as face/groin).

I keep wondering if Jayme was originally supposed to be on a field trip or elsewhere that night.

Got a great pic here. Not positive when it was taken. You will see in this pic that there is a small window in the Closs door. Can make a huge difference on a lot of things. Could have shot James right through the window. Not saying that is what happened, just saying it wasn't a solid door so perp could have possibly been looking inside at who was coming to the door. There is the possibility that this door had been replaced before the crime, I'm trying to figure that out.

Has it been confirmed that James definitely worked that Sunday? I know it has been reported that Denise told family members James was working that day, but I can't recall if LE has verified he actually was at the turkey plant/some other unknown job, and if so, what hours he worked.

Then why not just kill her too?
Someone prepared to kill a man and a woman in cold blood, why would they not just shoot any other witnesses as opposed to burden themselves with a walking, talking person who if they were to escape, would almost certainly see them convicted.
It doesn’t make sense unless Jayme was indeed the target of a planned kidnapping or.....
