I don't know much about GH but I would be very wary of the YouTube sleuthing community. I find that they're often focused on being the first to break any news to gain recogniton. During Jayme Closs's case there were a few young men whose faces were plastered on their livestreams, being called awful things when they weren't JP.

It seems like Libby's sister has been working at bringing the case to the YT true crime community, which I think is an amazing thing. It just takes that one person who recognizes the mugshots to possibly break a case.

Wow, I never saw that before. I've only seen TV news interviews with LE saying that people around here know how to react to this. Thanks for that. If I haven't seen that article before I don't think that very many people from around here have seen it as well.

"Investigators are still knocking on doors and tracking down people who were in the area at the time the girls first disappeared"

I think the car at CPS is a witness's car.

Not entirely true. Others have made comments. But KG could have (perhaps unofficially) regulated as the family spokesperson as she is definitely out there more.

One from June one from July....

Grandfather of Delphi murder victim optimistic killer will be caught

Family still hopeful after police release new evidence in Delphi murders

And didnt several family members take part in Crime Con?

Yes, Diane Erskin (Abby's grandma) had a booth at and did media interviews during Crime Con. I believe Kelsi also participated, she did a live YT show with Gray Hughes, as I recall.

I fear contamination or a degradation but whatever it is, it is not enough at this time with the information they have.

And, unfortunately, that group of suspects isn't talking. Or, like me, they are confused by the sketches so have discounted any suspicion they might have.

Now, I hope they did take samples of everything else at the crime scene. I know it was all done by local pathologist, so fingers crossed he's experienced, but there are lots of things aside from the DNA.

I am thinking more and more about domestic animals. Most urban and rural communities keep animals, and animals have the same hair, the same DNA, the same proteins, dander, whatnot.

Now, all these things can be tested as well as human DNA.

Animals have own DNA labs, well-known, where they check the purity of the lines, the presence/absence of congenital genetic disorders, and there might be a lot of interesting things found out from that information, the breeds forming the genome of this animal.

(A lot of things can be found from animal DNA. Sometimes more that from people. Really "big" historical testings have confirmed, for example, that Italy was populated by the migrants from the area of former Troy in modern Turkey, similar to what "The Aenaeid" tells. Modern investigators assumed that people migrated more than domestic animals, especially big ones that are hard to move, and traced the markers of the bull genomes in the areas of former Troy and in Italian Calabria. They matched.)

Back to Delphi - if the dude is scared of leaving DNA, he might be getting rid of animals, too but this behavior can be easily traced :)

I recall from the very early threads here that he was introduced as a type of Crime Scene Reconstruction Specialist.
Please don't ask me to find the post.....;)

I will leave this as JMO

Well, he should have left it at that, IMHO :) His channel, Gray Hughes Investigates, is a ruse of sorts. If anyone has ventured onto other channels covering this case, one can see that he is a mean, nasty, vulgar troll to anyone who expresses ANYTHING HE disapproves of. What he NEVER does in any of his videos is investigate anything that exposes the dark, seedy side of things there in Delphi. Instead, he does what's easy, aligns himself with the family, makes "feel good" vids that up his viewership and revenue might I add and sanitizes everything that is unseemly and demeans ANYONE who dares reveal it. I'm sorry if this offends anyone, but it is true. MOO

A person can be mean, nasty, vulgar, a troll, and still captivating. GH's biggest problem - his videos are hopelessly boring. He postures himself as "a freak", but freaks are funny! The thing that kills his videos is that they are lengthy and dull.

I'm still perplexed that LE does not feel the need to warn the public about a killer on the loose. They merely said people around here know what to make of this and how to react accordingly (not verbatim quote but the meaning is the same).

I'm not in Delphi but pretty close by. My perspective may be a little different as to how I react to all of this. To me there is possibly a killer living among us "in plain sight". If LE doesn't know who he is how are we to know he will not strike again. Someone else's kids aren't in danger of being murdered. I do feel I have a personal stake in this and so do many in Delphi and surrounding towns.

Sometimes I'll have someone over to repair a washer, add an outlet or some kind of home repair. I actually find myself thinking...could this guy be BG.

I think, you are save, it wouldn't be an every Dick and Jake, who is coming to your home and repairing things. You would meet him rather at an event, if at all. MOO

Animal hair (even without the root) can be an important source of that animal's DNA because they lick themselves and the saliva deposits DNA all over the hair. So yes, if BG had an animal, or worked with animals, and animal hair linked to BG was found at the crime scene, it could possibly be used as evidence. Even if he gets rid of the animal, most likely identical hair would be found somewhere among his belongings. It's almost impossible to get rid of.

That being said, from the article I posted yesterday with Leazenby talking about LE discussing the use of familial DNA, I really think they have BG's DNA, and enough to run a familial DNA search if they decided to. IMO, they wouldn't even discuss it if they didn't have the DNA itself.

I never saw that either, but that confirms my suspicions - they know who did it, they just can't prove without a shadow of a doubt that it was the specific individual who did it and not a male relative.

From the RTV6 story four months after the murders, discussing why more information is not released to the public about the crime scene:

"Sgt. Holeman says it is difficult for someone outside of the investigation to see, but there is a reason for the limited public information.

'We use this term a lot – we have to protect the integrity of the investigation,' said Sgt. Holeman. 'Whoever did this is probably the only person who knows some of the details of this case.'

That’s because the hardest part of this case isn’t going to be arresting a suspect – it’s going to be proving, without a reasonable doubt, that that person is responsible for the crime, so they won’t be set free based on lack of evidence."

First, law enforcement are the experts, not me. And Delphi LE have received FBI help so I doubt they are just "small town bungling" their way through the investigation and release of information.

However, the scenario Sgt. Holeman referred to above would only be true if the investigation had homed in on a family member. It would NOT be true if this turns out to be a stranger abduction/murder.

Why? Because DNA evidence at the scene, if it matches any member of the family or extended family, could be explained away or justified. But DNA evidence from a stranger on either of the girls would not be. In that event, the hardest part of the case is identifying a stranger-suspect whose DNA is not contained in a database due to a prior felony conviction.

It is possible that LE spent the first few months focusing on (or trying to clear) family or extended family. The downside to that approach is that these types of cases, with two murders in a public location with girls from two different families, are far more often a crime of opportunity for a predator than a family member. And in that case, getting information out to the public to identify a suspect is more important than worrying about proving the eventual suspect guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.

This is why I think the case will mostly likely break only if (1) more information is released to the public and a tipster phones in (like in the Brianna Denison case); or (2) more DNA samples from the public are provided online and a connection is established to the killer's extended family.

So, concerning previous posts about the article where LE, four months out, stated that they were “very close”. Do you think they were truly close to arresting someone, then got waylaid for two years for some reason away from this person, and are now back on track per the April 2019 press conference? Or do you think it’s just their contradictory smoke and mirrors way of talking we’ve become accustomed to?

I wish I knew that to be a fact. Truth is we just have no idea what so ever who this guy is. He could be a plumber, a car mechanic, uber driver, the guy who reads the gas/electric meter, county worker.... We just don't know and I won't feel safe around here, especially for the kids until he is in jail!

"In plain sight"

seriously, and who are these people who make videos of themselves reading SM comments on their livestream, in which they say nothing other than responding to the comments about their show, which has absolutely no content.
circular emptiness.
