I'm in Maryland. Thankfully Gov Hogan already shut schools, colleges. My wife works for a for profit school and shes now working from home, for a month at least. Ugh, but better shes here than roaming the public petri dish. My youngest is in school in Georgia and they've canceled all as well. I have no Immune system left. Diabetic, 2 heart attacks means 0 outside the property time nor do I want her leaving and bringing something home that kills me. A local restaurant franchise has closed till further notice. No positive test or sickness, just a preemptive measure. Good for him for choosing common sense over cash. STAY AT HOME!!! Best medicine available and its looking as if financially, Gov, states and some businesses aren't going to let people suffer or lose it all for something out of our control. I hope it's the case anyway.....

Haven't posted the last few days....I feel overwhelmed .
Every night I take melatonin to sleep, which results in these wonderful detailed dreams of beautiful places. Every morning I wake up to the reality....every day the news is worse.

It's next door to my area now. This school district has shut down all schools.
On Nextdoor it's finally being talked about, after such unbelievable dismissal in my area. Two people are ranting and raving that they wan't to see PROOF of why their kids can't go to school. Totally unaware and still believing this is all out of proportion. AND still claiming that kids don't get this, so why all the upheaval. smh

Worried sick for my daughter, who just starting working in the ER of a major hospital in Baltimore. She expects that she will contract Covid- 19, and tries to reassure me that being young and healthy, she will be ok. She's more worried about me, being nearly 70. I've been holed up at home the last two weeks, plenty of supplies....though I do have to get more dry goods.

Cousins in Holland, and one in Spain....I worry about them too. And all those poor people who have jobs they can't do from home....all the elderly, who might be alone.

To the powers that be....Stop this nightmare.

Rant over. Stay safe everyone.

Just received email from local market where we get most of our food:

Our Commitment to Providing a Safe Environment |

Dear Friends and Valued Customers,

For 40 years, we have been honored that you have entrusted us as an extension of your family to provide you the best grocery shopping experience at your neighborhood Nino’s. We care deeply about your health and well-being, and remain committed to providing a clean and safe environment for everyone. With the recent concerns about COVID-19, we want to keep you informed about the proactive steps we have taken.

At all of our stores, we have ramped up our existing cleaning and sanitizing procedures. We have full-time associates at each store solely focused on cleaning and sanitizing throughout the stores daily, including registers and credit card pin pads at check-out, deli slicers and kiosks, scales, counter tops in each department and our cafés. We are closing check-out lanes daily, one at a time, for the area to be completely sanitized. Restrooms are being cleaned with greater frequency, with soap and paper towel dispensers being constantly restocked...

I also received a similar message from our local Winn Dixie yesterday.

It’s actually a disaster and the government needs to step in to somehow let amazon know it should allow these products to be sold. Amazon banned all sales of hand sanitizer and masks when the first states declared a state of emergency because third-party sellers were raising prices and it can be considered price gouging under state laws. The problem is Amazon uses automated repricers so ONE person raises their price on an item and many other seller’s pricing algorithms will raise to meet the new price if its within a certain range. Amazon decided to just ban all sales of these products since it couldn’t control the prices.

Amazon says working with state AGs to nab sellers engaged in price-gouging over coronavirus

Like as an example I have a client with 15,000 cases of hand sanitizer at an Amazon warehouse ready and able and happy to sell at the regular retail price but Amazon has removed the listing so he can’t sell them. They’re just sitting there. He’s trying to recall them so he can sell them somewhere else but there’s a hold because the listing was removed so he can’t recall them either!

Thank you. I was not aware of that. Yes, the government needs to step in. Oh, the fallout from this.

Ultimately, it is up to each one of us to protect our health.
We will always have a large group of people that will never believe this is a pandemic. They will have to get it to realize, imo.
A friend of mine, an RN, with a position in the upper echelon, called to ask if I can go to the casino with her. Lol
I said “Coronavirus......no, no thanks.” She said “omg it is JUST a virus.” She has been a nurse 35 years. Honestly, don’t even want to be near her.
Another friend that owns a small shop that caters to college students said she had gloves & a mask on, a group PF 5 young adults stopped in and they asked “are you sick, or what”, I can only smh! I have no faith at all that the majority will do what is asked of us. Not trying to be a Nancy Negative, only realistic.

PA Update Friday, March 13th:
PA Coronavirus Updates: Malls, Casinos Shut As Cases Increase
  • Twelve more Pennsylvanians have tested positive for the new coronavirus, state health officials said Friday. The total case count is at 33 as of Friday afternoon. Today's totals include the state's first pediatric patient. MORE.
  • There is no testing backlog in Pennsylvania, Health Secretary Rachel Levine said. She noted all insurance companies in Pennsylvania and Medicaid will cover the COVID-19 test. Health care providers can order the tests and there are at least two commercial providers that are doing testing. MORE.
  • The Valley Forge Casino has been shut down over concerns regarding coronavirus. The closure will continue through March 27, in keeping with the two week closure Gov. Wolf mandated for schools, community centers, and non-essential businesses in Montgomery County. MORE.
  • Several other businesses in Montgomery County are closed. Here's a list.

Per the governor of Texas, AT&T is waiving internet data usage for people that don't have unlimited access-- WOW. I'm so very impressed. This will greatly help people and students that will work and school from home.

AT&T waives data cap during coronavirus; Comcast keeps charging overage fees

Editing to say, I don't think it's for satellite users, only broadband...but still that's great for people.

Also, Disneyland is donating all of its unused food from all its restaurants to the local food bank. It's a good thing that those huge corporations with lots of money are stepping up to do the right thing.

So much for free enterprise.

Ok, my husband and I are all set to self quarantine. It was a lot of work to get our prescriptions filled and make sure we have everything we need for a month. We are both in the vulnerable category. We had to cancel vacation plans and a visit to a museum exhibit. We also have to stay away from our children and their kids as all but one works with the public. They are in LE and banking. We have plans to go on walks, drives staying in the car and Netflix binging. And of course I will be on WS 24/7!!!

I pray for everyone hourly. God bless you all.

I was just thinking the same about checking in here at WS while we're all in self-quarantine. It's a great place to hang out. I wonder if Tricia needs us to help out with a fundraising campaign to make sure she can keep the lights on here as long as needed.

We should all isolate, fever or not. Jmo are we safe if we are out? I think not.
I just made three drive thru errands, 2 banks & the booze store. Looks like a lot of kids didn’t go to school today and they are now out and about. Closing schools might backfire, imo. Children do carry the disease, per reports. For the next few weeks they will be all over town. Jmo
Parents need to discipline their kids so that they are not all over town. I am a teacher in a district planning on closing and we are swamped with calls about child care and lunches. It is sad, but schools aren't day care centers.
