Found Deceased CO - Gannon Stauch, 11, Colorado Springs, El Paso County, 27 Jan 2020 **ARREST** #39

Not open for further replies.
I understand your way of thinking; and do wish he was found sooner .
It looks like there's still quite a bit of evidence.

But imo she should have been followed everywhere or a tracker put on her car or whichever rentals she used -- from the first presser.
Just have to ask as I don't know this--- would there be any jurisdictional issues following/using a tracking device (if that was a viable option) from LE tailing her- say, from CO to another state ?
Do all LE's have to cooperate then ?
Or is it like, once she's left CO the next state's LE have to pick it up from there ?

Police can't just put a tracker on your car without a warrant. It may have been awhile before they had substantial evidence to even present to a judge, you know? I couldn't see any LE agency not assisting another agency with the murder of a child. I'm pretty sure, once you have the warrant, you go where the GPS sends you...in state or out.

New Charges:

Letecia Stauch facing new charges after stepson's remains found in Florida

Count 6 - Crime of violence (special enhancer) - use of firearm
Count 7 - Crime of violence (special enhancer) - use of a blunt instrument
Count 8 - Crime of violence (special enhancer) - use of a knife or other sharp instrument
Count 9 - Crime of violence (special enhancer) - unlawfully causing the death of Gannon Stauch
Count 10 - Crime of violence (special enhancer) - use of a firearm related to murder in the first degree - child under 12 years of age
Count 11 - Crime of violence (special enhancer) - use of a blunt instrument related to murder in the first degree - child under 12 years of age
Count 12 - Crime of violence (special enhancer) - use of a knife or other sharp instrument related to murder in the first degree - child under 12 years of age
Count 13 - Crime of violence (special enhancer) - unlawfully causing the death of Gannon Stauch related to murder in the first degree - child under 12 years of age
My god. Separate counts -- she DID do all that to him. What a monster.

This is just me probably not understanding how to read legalese. I’m wondering if at least one of the weapons listed in the new charges could have belonged to the officer involved in that “things” transfer back to CO.
The date “on or around” leaves exact day open. And the charge includes the words “..or the immediate flight from, the charge of Murder in the first...”
I don’t know why but it would give me some comfort to know that she did not use all weapons listed with Gannon and maybe just maybe one belong to a transport guard.

Any charges related to the incident during transport would be filed by Kansas authorities, and are not included in these charges. The weapons charges are “sentence enhancers”, so they are part of the main charge of murder in the 1st degree.

Great question, not sure. When was the FBI officially on board?

I recall an early search at a landfill. It was said NOT to be related to Gannon's disappearance...but the timing fit.

Perhaps she put him there (in a suitcase?) and then moved him?

I hate even typing these thoughts out.

I hate to type this out, too.
But I want the harshest justice and for her to pay for everything she did to him.
Re. the bolded : That's what I think-- but not left at the landfill as she couldn't just go there and take something away from it; it would be too noticeable.
Remember she's dumb as a box or rocks but cunning and had time to think her 'plan' out.
More likely somewhere in the wilderness and she then took him to dispose of in FL.
Sick monster.
I'm not getting a hint of her having had help --but more arrests could be coming ?

My dad was a cop.
He trained us to be observant, to notice vehicle numbers and strange things in strange places.
Not a whole pile of use to me cos memory like a sieve and I don't know makes and models of cars.. they are all just cars to me... but I do notice registrations... where they came from.
I wonder whether many people do this?
I notice alot of human behavior, patterns, changes in these things. I've mentally filed things away, months, years. Until the answer is revealed, it's hard to explain but it's happened far too often in my 45+ yrs to not take note . It's random stuff, phrases, odors I could go on.

that woman is the spawn of Satan, how do you mutilate the body of a young boy that you lived with, that you cared for, that you took pictures with, omg I cant even begin to understand what she thought he had done so wrong to deserve any of this.....this woman had to do some really gruesome stuff to that little body and then drive all those miles with it in her vehicle to where she finally threw it out like trash, how could you even do that without going crazy, having nightmares every night, it just blows my mind that she is that evil and had 3 kids living in the same home with her......ugh

I wonder if she moved him twice, the 2nd time to Florida. It appears to have happened just after the neighbor's video was discovered, perhaps she panicked as everything started to point to her, and maybe picked Florida to hasten decomposition. MOO

IMO she was gone by the time RD reviewed his videos.

I wonder if on Feb 2 or 3, the neighbor showed AS the video, making him cry and say "she lied" -- and AS then made a call to LS about it. Then she might have decided to immediately pick up Gannon's body from where she had initially deposited him, and take him somewhere far away.

Was she being watched? Maybe she disguised herself (ETA: like the white hat), walked down the street and possibly had her daughter or a friend pick her up and take her to a car rental place. They could have even rented the car under their name -- with Tee using the excuse of the "death threats" she'd been getting for disguise/secrecy. Then she may have continued on alone, using a rental car to pick up Gannon's body -- maybe from the location where LE were later seen sifting snow-- and drove him to where he was recently found. Keep in mind if she stopped frequently, and only stopped for a few minutes when depositing his body (and didn't turn around immediately after disposing of Gannon's body, but continued on for another few hundred miles to be safe) -- LE wouldn't know where on that 1400+ mile journey to search, even if they ever did connect that car to her and check the GPS on that vehicle. Now, I’ve got to go search the timeline and the last thread. I distinctly remember typing what happened on February 4th? in the last thread.

You did! Feb 5th was the day that MCL was at the house collecting evidence and DAN MAY was at the house too! According to may notes which I made from press releases from EPCSO and MSM. Searches took place on E Las Vegas Street on Feb 3rd, NOTHING was mentioned for the 4th, and then all the search activity at the house on Feb 5th. I also noted that the house was "cleared" by the Crime Lab on the 5th, so I assumed they gathered all the evidence they needed by then.

LS did the interview for Crime Online the previous week. I think she left town right after that. Then unaccounted for until her lovely DWAP phone call on Feb 16th. We'd suspected that she was in SC by then. So I guess she was transporting and traveling during that time. :(:mad:

El Paso County Sheriff's Office asking for help finding missing 11-year-old boy
GS of Colorado Springs left home on foot around 3:15 p.m. to go play at a friend's house, his parents say, but never came home. GS was wearing a blue hoodie, blue jeans and tennis shoes when he went missing. He has brown hair with brown eyes and weighs 90 pounds.
- 6:55 p.m., El Paso County Sheriff's Office dispatch receives call of runaway child, 6600 Block Mandan Drive.

Re: TS making the first 911 call:

During the press conference on Tuesday [February 4th] , Sergeant Deborah Mynatt, answering a question from a reporter, “Are you still saying that [Gannon] went missing between 3 and 4 o’clock [on Monday, January 27th],” stated, “That was the only information related to us, and therefore, the first day that the reporting party called in, that was indicated to us. That was the bit of information we had to work with, there were some other factors and information obtained during that call. We type-coded him as a runaway because of information we received.”

Immediately following this exchange (it starts at around 12:40), another reporter asks, “And that was reported by the stepmother, correct?,” to which Sergeant Mynatt answers, “Yes.”

- 7:32 p.m., GS entered into state and national databases as active runaway
- Last seen between 3 and 4 p.m. on the 27th
- Nothing found on initial search

Police arrived and looked in backyard with flashlights - A little after 10 p.m. on Tuesdaythe El Paso County Sheriff's Office showed up at Gannon's home. Law enforcement walked up to the home and appeared to be searching in the backyard with flashlights. The garage door was opened and a car was pulled out. We are waiting for an update from the sheriff's office on why law enforcement was there.

Dad (AS) finds out he is missing. "We kind of do the street light rule - when the street lights come on or it gets dark, they better be home and it was like maybe 30 minutes past that...started to worry at that point. Then I started texting all
the friends that we know he goes to and nobody had seen him," AS said.
He said GS didn't let them know what friend's house he was going to in the neighborhood and that this was "unlike him so that's why we're obviously really concerned."
Eventually, the police were called.
"Once we went through that whole checklist it's like, you know, where could he be?" AS said.

Also on Thursday, a Sheriff's Office patrol car with two deputies was parked for an extended period of time across the street from the Stauch family home, and two other men appearing to be law enforcement officers sat in an unmarked car down the street.
However, the officers left the scene after two men and a woman got into a pickup truck parked in the driveway, and drove away.
Many people on social media are wondering why more information about Gannon isn't available. As KRDO NewsChannel 13 reported Wednesday, it is the policy of the Sheriff's Office to investigate reports of missing children aged 10 and older as runaways, until evidence is found to prove an abduction or kidnapping has taken place.

Note- GS was not seen at *advertiser censored* & Go convenience:
At one point, deputies thought GS had stopped by the *advertiser censored* & Go convenience store on Mesa Ridge Parkway Monday night, but after the mother reviewed the surveillance, she confirmed it was not her son.
The sheriff's office says they have information that leads them to believe Gannon ran away. They did not elaborate further. 11 News asked EPSO Wednesday if GS is still considered a runaway and was told he is. Law enforcement and family are concerned about GS's wellbeing and are anxious to find him. GS's father is a member of the National Guard, and the Guard is also assisting with search efforts.

"She doesn't have very much, just what she's been told, that no one has seen GS since Monday," Birkenstock said.
She characterized GS as "a very loving child. Disappearing is totally out of his character; he always has to be with somebody. He's very quiet, very smart."
GS's mother, who lives in South Carolina, and father, who was away for military training at the time of his disappearance, share custody, she said.
Information received during an interview with GS's stepmother and other information lead deputies to believe he's a runaway instead of a missing person, Mynatt said Tuesday, adding that foul play is not suspected.

A small group of volunteers searched an open area dotted with homeless camps near the intersection of Platte Avenue and Wooten Road in east Colorado Springs, around 10 miles from the main search area. No specific reason was given for that search.

The school district told the Colorado Springs Gazette Gannon was absent on Monday. They said counselors would be available at the school.
Police also addressed a rumor that GS’S stepmother, LS, was not fully cooperative with law enforcement. “At this point in time we are conducting multiple interviews and what I can tell you is that each leade we have had is exhausted,” Mihalko said..
He said they are looking at persons of interest, but only meaning that they are people that could give them additional information about GS.

FBI now involved in search for missing 11-year-old Gannon Stauch
The Federal Bureau of Investigation is now involved in the ongoing search for a missing/endangered 11-year-oldColorado Springs boy who went missing Monday afternoon, and the task force investigating his disappearance is organizing a team of volunteers to start searching for him.
The search for GS remains an active investigation and the Sheriff's Office said deputies are following up on all potential leads that might help them to find the boy, including continued witness interviews and evidence collection.
Deputies said they have received multiple tips since GS was reported missing. Deputies also said while they are monitoring social media, they are not using it for tips.
At Thursday’s press conference deputies said repeatedly that the main focus of the investigation at this time is to find GS. They also said that while they have been in contact with local trash companies and landfills, there are no searches taking place at those locations at this time.

LS/TS stood with her back to the camera while she was speaking with CBS 11 on Friday afternoon, in connection with her missing stepson, GS. She was insistent that she would never harm the child, who vanished while under her care.
...
LS/TS explained that on Sunday, she took GS and his younger sister hiking at the Garden of the Gods Park. Afterward, they stopped by to eat at Burger King, she said. GS reportedly did not attend school the following day.
...
Reportedly, LS/TS did not know which friend’s house the boy went to on Monday, according to AS, who said his wife told him that GS didn’t specify which friend he wanted to visit, NBC 5 reports. The stepmother said she couldn’t comment on the details of the case at this time.
...
“My husband’s ex-wife is living in our home,” the woman complained. “I took care of GS for the last two years in our home because his mother didn’t want to do it…OK, and I would never, ever hurt this child.”
...
“I was denied, I was told I couldn’t get nothing to drink, I couldn’t go to the bathroom. I mean it was continually that my constitutional rights were violated,” she explained.

==============
As of Friday afternoon, the sheriff's office had received more than 70 tips in the case.
On Thursday, 11 News learned The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) deployed a consultant from their Team Adam program to help. Team Adam is a free resource provided by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children to law enforcement. Named after Adam Walsh, the abducted and murdered son of NCMEC co-founders John and Revé Walsh, Team Adam provides rapid, on-site assistance to law enforcement (LE) agencies and families in critical cases of missing children.
The National Guard has also dispatched some of its troops to help. GS's father is a member of the Colorado National Guard.
Civilian-led search parties have combed the area in and around the Lorson Ranch neighborhood, where Gannon's home is located.
"So far, we've had random people going out anywhere they can," said Sara Robertson, one of the volunteers searching for GS Wednesday. "We decided to have more of an organized community around here, so we're all meeting here and heading out in different directions. We have about 40 per group. We have it gridded out checking every neighborhood all the surrounding grassy areas and fields ... looking in holes, in culverts, in ditches, anything we can do."

El Paso County Sheriff’s Office gets new evidence in search for missing 11-year-old boy

Feb 3, 2020

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. -- One week after an 11-year-old El Paso County boy went missing, authorities received a new piece of evidence to further the investigation into GS’s disappearance.
FOX31 obtained a copy of this evidence that came from a neighbor's surveillance camera. Authorities have asked us not to describe or show it yet because it’s a part of their investigation. To ensure we don’t compromise anything in the search for GS, we are honoring the sheriff’s office request.
A few doors down, neighbor RD did some investigating on his own.“I couldn’t sleep so I just stayed up and I started looking through [surveillance footage],” RD said, adding, “I looked through on my tablet, then I said, 'Let me look on my TV to be sure.”Police have asked us not to share what he found yet.“This is something the investigators are looking into and it would be part of our investigation,” Kirby said. RD took the footage to GS’s father, who immediately called detectives.“He just broke down crying,” RD said. RD says detectives were moved by the footage too.
“They said this is the break they needed,” RD said.

She used a weapon, that’s all that’s required. Those are examples of weapons that would fall under the charge.

So she didn’t beat him, stab him, and shoot him. It could merely be one of those things.

ETA: Maybe not. It looks like there’s a charge for each weapon.

There is some drive time- depending on stops; 1328- 1349 miles.
Google Maps roughly- 20.5 hours- at speed limit, without stops.

Time in Florida: 41 days from Feb 3 to March 16, 40 days from Feb 4 to March 16, 39 days from Feb 5 to March 16.

Road warriors- think about your last road trip. Between us- we should be able to come up with a rough estimate how long it took her. ( at least straight through)

My in laws is 1090 miles from home. Google says 16 hrs 15 min- at speed- mostly highway, like LS's trip. My husband and youngest son ( when he was 17-18) did it with stops in almost exactly the same time. Only my husband drove. ( my husband has a lead foot, they both have better bladder control than I, and they would have got fast food to go during a bathroom break ). My bladder control really has no bearing- a potty training 2 yr old can hold it better than I can :)

ETA: Not one of us has traveled to the in laws alone, so I didn't have a time for that. Knowing my husband, they only stopped when they both had to go- effectively being one person. * Husband just said if one was driving for one's life, one could drive a long way- especially at 36

We couldn’t have my brother’s body at the funeral home. Not even at the beginning of the services. The odor. The medical examiners office had to bring his bag of bones and tissue directly from the freezer to his coffin right before the Hearst loaded him for destination of the cemetery.

@imstilla.grandma So sorry for your loss:(

Thank you for starting Gannon’s story when he was simply listed as a runaway. I truly believe that bringing TS’s lies to light online made her talk and talk and talk until she explained herself into a jail cell. Gannon is not returning to his family in the way we had all hoped but he is returning.

There is a freeway that runs directly from the southwest into Florida. My dad had driven it from Corpus Christi, Texas to Jacksonville, Florida. I am guessing she had taken the same highway. She must've driven quite quickly to make it in that amount of time. She probably didn't have children with her--went alone.

Who do you suppose gave TS the news today that GS was found? I hope a snarky CO let her know in a not so nice way and she’s been shutting her pants since. Seriously though how do inmates get news such as this .. their lawyers?
Hopefully she's out of solitary and got it in the TV room at the same time as everyone else. MOO. One can hope.
