I just received a call and one male staff tested positive. He would be in his 40's. I have had no contact with him for well over 2 weeks. One female tested yesterday and symptomatic. Late twenties. My exposure date remains the same. March 19th with her (other 3) Another female in her late 30's developed a cough. Again last contact with her March 19th. Public Health advised her to self monitor as she has no other symptoms. Grateful I am healthy and don't have to reset isolation time. We work in the Mental Health Care Field and see folks in many different settings. Bravo reporting from Family Room in SW Ontario Canada.

Coronavirus droplets could travel 27 feet, warns MIT researcher

“Owing to the forward momentum of the cloud, pathogen-bearing droplets are propelled much farther than if they were emitted in isolation without a turbulent puff cloud trapping and carrying them forward,” she wrote. “Given various combinations of an individual patient’s physiology and environmental conditions, such as humidity and temperature, the gas cloud and its payload of pathogen-bearing droplets of all sizes can travel 23 to 27 feet (7-8 m).”

Please watch this..... My 14 year old adopted Grandson Tucker has Autism..... Robert Willard is Tucker's Junior High Home Room Life Skills teacher. All Special Needs kids go to First Period in Mr. Willard's Life Skills class( he waits outside the back door of the school to escort each Special Needs kid to class every morning). They gather there again at lunch time to go with Mr. Willard as a group to lunch. ( so no one has to sit alone because they are different ). They all go back to Mr. Willard's for the last period of the day and he make's sure each of them are picked up safely to go to their homes..........Let me tell you the little I know about Robert Willard. He is a US Army veteran. He is a Texas Longhorn football fan. He is a devoted husband to his wife who has been very sick for a long time with Sickle Cell Anemia. He not only is a full time teacher, he works part time at a Taco Bell to make extra money for his wife and himself........Since this Virus crisis stuff started Mr. Willard has called on the phone everyone of his Special Needs students at least once a week. He just made this video and has sent it to every one of his Special Needs students..... I am one tough but fair old beloved by my people SOB , but this is a better man than I will ever be..... May God Bless all the Mr. Willards out there..... To Hell with this Virus...... We are gonna beat this damn thing with good men like Mr. Willard taking care of our kids when we cannot be with them.....Yall stay safe and hang in there.....moo

Thank you for this @cody22. As a retired teacher’s wife (elementary grades), I know how much teachers miss their kids (most of the time :p) and would want to reassure them at a time like this. Mr. Willard’s video is such a beautiful gift to his kids, including your grandson Tucker. It made my eyes leak! This is your best post ever.

I work at a grocery store that is not walmart and my question is...what about the customers? Lol. I have been feeling a little weak for a couple days, woke up today with a kind of bad sore throat and cough and i don't personally have a thermometer (Don't worry i am going to have my husband go get one).

I have ptsd and i LITERALLY do not go anywhere but to work and home, so if i catch it, i am catching it at work. And i work nights so i don't even work when customers are in the store. They just contaminate everything by touching it.

Re: recent loss of appetite.
Anyone think maybe the urge to eat is diminished in order to avoid a trip to the store? Why eat today what you can eat tomorrow? Or, a fear of running out of food?

Agree - probably one of many reasons. I know I have vowed to only eat all perishables first, this is not the time to be wasting food. Can only make these last so long - and is what I will miss most moving forward. Also the healthiest and I think we're all more health conscious and trying to boost our own immune systems presently. Then I'll progress to frozen items, and finally to canned staples.
As I have been stocking, I kept in mind - if I am wrong and this is over within a reasonable amount of time, I'm already prepared for all the food banks next holiday season. One benefit I've noticed, the expiration dates on canned goods is really extended, meaning all the older products were sold first. Prepared for the worst, hoping for the best and praying I can make a sizable donation to the food banks with any surplus I'm comfortable downsizing.

US Navy captain pleads for help over outbreak

This looks serious.

"The captain of a US aircraft carrier carrying more than 4,000 crew has called for urgent help to halt a coronavirus outbreak on his ship.

Scores of people on board the Theodore Roosevelt have tested positive for the infection. The carrier is currently docked in Guam.

"We are not at war. Sailors do not need to die," Captain Brett Crozier wrote in a letter to the Pentagon.

Captain Crozier recommended quarantining the entire crew.

His letter was first reported in the San Francisco Chronicle before being confirmed by other outlets. The Chronicle said at least 100 sailors had contracted the coronavirus.

In the letter Captain Crozier said the outbreak on board could not be contained, with the spread now "ongoing and accelerating".

Cramped, communal conditions on vessels like the Theodore Roosevelt make imposing social distancing measures extremely difficult.

"Removing the majority of personnel from a deployed US nuclear aircraft carrier and isolating them for two weeks may seem like an extraordinary measure," Captain Crozier wrote.

"This is a necessary risk," he added."

Please take care and check in with us. Yes could be a customer. Are you with many co-workers? Stay home and get well soon.

My heart breaks for you, I’m so sorry. I think a store employee risks getting it from coworkers/patrons equally
Hopefully people will quit bringing their entire family tree to the stores, that’s the wisest thing anyone can do, imo.
Take care of yourself & I hope you do not have Covid.

Does anyone know how long CV lives on marijuana? Tia. A lot of people handle it, trimmers, budtenders, etc.

Also, if you smoke it and it has CV on it, I’m assuming the fire kills it? Or are you breathing it in? Probably a stupid stoner question but I need to know.

Tia for any input.

Jeez alcohol as ‘non essential’. I’m in Louisiana & from NOLA. It gives me life now, well that & Blue Bell Dutch chocolate ice cream, although not at the same time.
Miss their peaches and cream & strawberries and cream. And Binder’s glazed doughnuts in the upper 9th Ward. Waistline? At least I have fresh peaches in garden till raccoons catch wind.

I had a pork chop today and have been feeling guilty every since. I kid you not. It was so good but I keep thinking that I could have saved it (freezer).

Please see post @Tricia and @sillybilly

Exactly. I sure want to know how everybody is doing and talk about how this is affecting people personally, but the main purpose of this thread I thought was to discuss facts and information about the virus.

This virus doesn’t know borders.
We need to have a global and national perspective as we monitor our own areas.
What happens in one place can affect what happens in another place. Everything is connected. We have to learn from other countries and States. This is a global situation.

We have to learn from what is happening in NY and what Cuomo is doing wrt to hospital overflow, etc. so we can all learn for when it happens to us. These are collaborative efforts. There is value in learning and monitoring collectively what is happening in the nation and world as a whole.

What is the purpose of this current main thread now? I’m barely seeing any news or science links now...Is this a chat thread now? I can go to SM for that...I’m here for facts and information as it applies globally.

It seems to me the meat of the threads is disappearing.

It is difficult if not impossible to navigate around several different threads. I imagine it’s a lot of extra work for the mods too to relocate and filter so many posts.

I was here for facts, information, studies, reports from the beginning...now everything is all over the place. These threads have gone through the cheese grater overnight. It’s going to be hard to proceed if there is not some unity.

I’m disappointed now there seem to be minimal msm, etc?

We are all going to miss out on a lot of important msm and information now bc it’s scattered all over the place. I want to know what is happening everywhere.

I don’t have time to navigate and find 60 different threads or however many there are now.

We were doing just fine with the way the threads were before..what happened??
I won't post anything about Alaska or Brazil, no one will be there reading anyway. All you have to do is google to get the infomation yourself, the point is to connect with posters who aren't necessarily even thinking about remote areas. Or to share themes that unite areas regardless of specific states. If I wanted to share info on those cruise ships I 'd have to post in threads for South America, Central America, Panama, Argentina, and Florida, when the ship is flagged in Holland.

ADMIN NOTE:

Okay everybody, Tricia has given her sage advice and here's the solution.

Because there is a lot of crossover of information, members can continue making their posts in this general discussion thread, and IF that individual member feels it is also important/appropriate to post the same information in the thread for the individual state, they can post the information over to that thread as well.

Also, if any member feels a certain post in general discussion thread would be appropriate in the thread for the individual states, please Report on that post and WS staff will review it copy it over to the state specific thread.

This should resolve any concerns members have about missing out on both global information and information that is specific to their individual state.

If you have questions about the above, please do not post about it here; just PM me or any other Mod/Admin and we will try to clarify.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.
TYVM. Good sense prevails. I just posted about 100 cases on the Theodore Roosevelt currently docked in Guam. That would be a difficult one to categorise for sure.
