I personally would not take anyone's word for that other people already searched for any family member. Can feel the impulse to go look just talking about it.

Also we know how suspicious he was of her.

Wouldn't he be snooping around for clues? e.g. He suspected she was having an affair. Wouldn't he check if she packed clothes?

IMO he does not investigate what should have been the most obvious reason for her absence.

I personally believe a lot of the disposed items were unrelated to the murder, but related to other shady business dealings of Barry's. Since we know he was all about the fireplace, it must have been things he couldn't sufficiently burn. Someone like BM wants to appear perfect, he knows LE may end up searching the house and he needs to get rid of EVERYTHING that may paint him in a less than godly light. That includes any potential *advertiser censored* (judging by the interviews, BM is VERY into sex to the point of being creepy), evidence of those bank accounts SM wasn't privy to, shady business dealings including the legal issues he was facing in IN, all his spyware like the hidden cameras from the deer heads etc. He's going to want every bit of that out of the house/safe and gone. We know from MG and Jeff's testimony that the hotel room reeked of chlorine so some of it was likely clean up from the crime scene as well. He had a lot to get rid of if he wanted to make himself out to be the perfect man.

Rbbm

He got rid of the one thing that made him look like a halfway decent man.

His wife.

After watching the boyfriend on the body cam, this was very evident to me although I think BM did not care about SM enough to pay attention to the details of a hobby that brought her joy.

He didn't know she would have never gone in that direction.
He didn't know she would have taken her water camel pack.
He didn't know she would have taken her car.
He had no idea she biked in the afternoons.

His whole bike story was a fail for me, based on that young man's interview.
I agree. He didn't care what Suzanne did with her life until it affected him. He wasn't about to let her go. Not alive, anyway. He'll spend a huge amount of money on his defense only to wind up in prison anyway.

Oh Barry, was it worth it?

A key point is that BM was the last person in the house after SM (supposedly)

So why wouldn't he be looking around to see if anything was different than when he left?

No one else can know that.

Bam!

Oh, man, though, I wish they would have asked him to look around, see if anything was out of place!

Nope, it's exactly like I left it.

I don't agree that significant others always know where someone does something they do everyday, My husband takes off and walks the dog....everyday....I know what time now because I work from home, but I never knew that schedule when I left the house to go to work. And I have no clue where he goes unless he mentions something specific that happened...ran into someone we know, something the dog did that was unusual and he might say the location of that occurrence. So I did not find it odd that he didn't cry out "she never bikes here"...he probably didn't know what her routine was. It is alittle odd that he didn't have a general idea as when I worked outside the home I would always ask at some point in the evening of my H "what did you do today" but my husband never asked me that so I get spouses that just aren't that involved or curious about what another spouse does routinely. My spouse's schedule was his own, he didn't go to an office everyday, was out and about at job sites, our rentals, the daily trips to the hardware store and I was curious about his day and also wanted to make sure I got any receipts since I'm the "bookkeeper". But he is never curious about my days. Suzanne may have relayed some bike rides if there was something about them she wanted to share, but Barry may not have been cognizant of her daily routines.

The dirty clothes don't help the timeline for either side as those could have been used before she took her last bike ride or she hand washes them, or she washes them separately. We don't really know exactly when the sheets, socks, shorts, etc. were washed an dried...just that they were sitting in the dryer apparently. The coffee cup on the counter is puzzling since the alleged single plate was in the dishwasher.

I agree with others about BM on the body cam footage, no true emotion, no sense of urgency, very nonchalant, seemingly robotic just goin’ through the motions. Bad acting at its finest. Ugh, is there any award lower than a Razzie?

I noticed upon arrival at the bike scene, he didn’t swing his truck door open and jump/dash out of truck running around frantic like a man on an urgent mission (to find his missing wife). You know like he did after he pulled into his driveway when he arrived home on Saturday afternoon 5/9/20 at 2:44pm. Oh wait.

Also, I was appalled at the grin on his face while being escorted to the courthouse. Just more proof of his arrogance and total lack of self awareness, not to mention how disrespectful to Suzanne/her memory, her family, friends, and the court. Horrible.
Looks like he’s aged a lot, lost some of that muscle tone, etc. IMO, he looks very tired/worn overall looks awful, a smiling pretty daughter on each arm, notwithstanding. Guess fear and stress about possibly getting sent to the pokey for life can do a number on one’s appearance.

I thought the young man, MM2’s boyfriend MH, did a great job on scene giving important details to LE especially about what Suzanne’s normal bike riding routine/habits were, and about SM/BM spats and that there had been discussions of separation. Very brave young man.
He seemed to be very caring and concerned about Suzanne. Actually, MH and his Dad both did great and seemed more concerned about Suzanne than ‘ole BM did that’s for sure, glaringly obvious imo.

IIRC in one of the PH's Prosecution brought up BM's lack of emotion and curiosity (I don't recall the exact wording used) when entering the home with LE for the first time after SM was reported missing. Defense came back with BM was doing exactly what he was instructed to do before entering and following directions. IMO

I'm not so sure about this one. I haven't followed it from the beginning and just got a lot of the facts from the 48 Hours showing. Neither had clean hands. I'm really interested in those SO DNA found in her vehicle. They now have the means to track them and that could tell the tale.

I find it very strange that the girls weren't spending Mothers day with their mother. Mother might not be around for many other Mothers days due to her illness. Yes I know they were supposed to show up later but strange time for a camping trip.

The girls know their parents quite well and they support dad. That shows a lot there.

Knowing what we know today --
  • BM staging the bike at a location a novice would never attempt,
  • BM over-confident the "lion got her" wouldn't be challenged,
  • Animal attack denounced by the Chaffee County Sheriff,
  • BM using a public works job for his alibi
  • Probably learning too late that his alibi violates Broomfield public works code,
  • A chaperoned, out of state church trip concluding in Maysville,
  • Most likely a college girls' weekend with no stopover in Maysville.
It sure helps explain why the Morphew camp welcomed the Daily Mail taking charge with a bogus news story that BM was attending fire-fighter training on Sunday! BM just couldn't catch a break. No wonder he's got a skip in his step again.... Just saying...

Have we ever officially learned where/why the MMs were traveling? I assume this is what the bolded-by-me part above references? I guess it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things, though I wonder who planned it.

ETA: Also, have we heard from TN lately? Or, at all after the first few weeks?

I think it was an end of the college semester get away for MM1 and they included MM2. They left pretty much coinciding with end end of the exam schedule. It is surmised they went somewhere in Utah because of some Instagram photos people snagged but I don't know if it's ever been verified in documents.

Personally, I think TN's role is well documented in the early days and there is nothing else relative to the story of May 9 and 10 and the days leading up.

Your Find Suzanne Morphew site is amazing and ever so awesome. Once the trial ends, you should self publish it on Amazon. Maybe make a bit of jingle for your pocket.

I was told the zip ties connecting this rusty ole gun to a piece of stiff board were placed there so the gun could be held up when presented in the courtroom as evidence. IOW, Barry did not add those zip ties. Is that your understanding as well? TIA

The People’s Exhibits – Find Suzanne Morphew

Thanks, the appeals will necessitate keeping the site up to ensure BM can't weasel his way out. I'm angling to be a source on Wikipedia/Murderpedia or maybe a couple of Ranker lists. That's the real stuff.

Yeah, those are the police zip ties. They use those crazy wide ones.

Here's what I think.

I think it was the end of the semester in the middle of what seemed like a waning pandemic and a camping trip seemed like a fun idea. An excuse to get away, an excuse to get out of the house.

Mother's Day or not Suzanne probably didn't want anything to stand in the way of their happiness.

And I think Barry didn't want anything to stand in the way of his happiness.

The End

Not to take away from the gravity of this conversation, but I must admit that in my first sighting of this post, I took "LEO" to mean Leo the lion/mountain-lion! And my silly subconscious saw it as the beginning of a joke! In fact, I don't believe any lions were involved, and it is certainly no joke.

We got jokes in here. In other threads, I've caught myself waiting for a punchline that isn't coming.

No other current crime has such a jackass for a perpetrator, though.

Is jackass in the Zoo yet? Who's in charge of the zoo?!

The last line of data that they show is at DSI at 2:10 PM, which does agree with the timeline. We need to subtract 6 from the time given to convert from UTC time to Mountain Daylight Time. (20:10:16 UTC -6 hours => 14:10:16 MDT => 2:10 PM) So they didn't include the skid steer data after he got the blade changed. The critical time of when he got home at 2:47 PM on through the night is missing. I guess I shouldn't be surprised as it was submitted by the defense. Sigh... I suppose we should have some faith that the prosecution checked all of the data, and not just what is listed here. Just bummed, as I'd like to see all of the data. Oh well...

They're counting on nobody knowing to adjust the time stamps. I can't think of any reason to submit something so pointless as a defense exhibit.

I definitely see your point. The kicker for me is that her daughter's boyfriend knew and remembered all these details and Barry did not. Then, Barry, who forgot to get rid of the water camel thing, left it in her car and sold her car with it still in it. A lot of important details he missed add up for me. If it was one or two details, maybe, but for me it's too many to ignore.
