NY NY - Ellery, Rte 17, WhtFem 30-37, UP15489 193UFNY, GSW, poss from Canada or Europe, note, clothes, Dec'83

Are you able to share any more details?
When I submitted somebody for comparison this is the message I received back from the Chautauqua County Sheriff:

“I will double check with our team but just pulling her information up she sounds very familiar so I am thinking they have excluded her. I recently heard that there was some real positive information that came on the case.”

The Chautauqua County Sheriff just opened a cold case unit & they are working on this Doe. From their most recent post regarding CCJD on their FB page called “UNSOLVED CHAUTAUQUA”- I’m fairly certain DNA has found some familial matches. They now know she originated from Western Germany, Belgium, Netherlands.

Anything more about Dorothy Mastrangelo?

Sorry, I thought I had replied a few days ago. Basically, I had been searching for further information, confirmation of info I had found and pieced together. I had reached out for some help. I was going to start her thread based on the MSM info I'd found her through. I couldn't find all of my notes, and later I looked for her NAMUS page (which is where I'd thought I'd first encountered her case) -- couldn't find her there, on Charley Project, or any search results for her missing. Hopefully the other lead (below) pans out.

Still waiting to hear back from someone who knew her. I should have something in the next few days

Looking forward to that information.

Hello!

Back after a very long time!!!

For the forensic genealogy pointing to Western Euro countries
«There is no doubt she originated from one of these countries (Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Italy or Canada).»

I have something to bring up about Germany.

In 1983, Germany was divided in two countries, DDR (Eastern Germany) and Western Germany.

If she was from DDR, then, I suspect that the lady was from the apparatchiks and not an ordinary citizen.
So, having given birth and crossing the Berlin wall to get an UID is a possibility.
Another possibility for the UID is about clandestine testings without patients' consent because DDR finances were such in dire state they needed cash from Western companies.

And for German missing people before 1989-1990, you can find about DDR missing persons only on specialised FB pages and groups. Nothing from MSM, which is a real problem.

In such case of DDR, her child may had been given in forced adoption.

In such cases, the hospital told the biological family that their child was died and the child is registered under falsified registration before being forcibly adopted.
If she was from DDR, it can explain why she was not searching for her child.

For the Meditterranean type, she could had been a madgerman from Algeria.
Most skilled workers in DDR were from Mozambique, but Algeria was communist in those days and sent workers in DDR.

For the Russian dentistery in 1983, that might be explained by dentists being taught the Soviet way.

I can't say for certain that she was from DDR, but it is a possibility of being from DDR.

The Multiload IUD was available in Western Germany.
So, either she had it inserted there or got it forcibly when at hospital in DDR for another reason. The other reason was the tracheostomy.

I know from an archive video report on French TV archives that they were doing dialysis and transplants with cyclosporin in Eastern Berlin.
Tracheotomy was available in DDR. With the German keywords "tracheotomie ddr", I found elements indicating the availability of trach as soon as 1954.

But about the immigration in DDR, I found very few elements in English.

Ok, after all the elements, we have about the possible/impossible in DDR, I am going to search on FB groups and pages about missing persons in DDR between the 70s and the 80s.

Such findings are not available in MSM and German databases don't get back since before 1989-1990 for cases before German reunification.

Cannot recall; did the authorities ever retrieve DNA from this lady?

They are doing DNA genealogy yes.

The more I think and the less I believe that our JD was a madgerman, skilled worked who migrated from Germany.
Her clothing doesn't work, nor the dental work, and even less the expensive clothes.

Dotr...should we make a new threath about the case (ruling out the obscure note) Tried to find for a long time to know what it's about, but I think we are on the wrong track....Would like to have the note in my hand....and see for myself what is writen on it, because I have doubtes about what is it saying.... and a question Where was the note found....besite her, in her pocket....the case file does not mention that....

In this PressReader edition of the original PostMedia article it has a much clearer picture of the note found with the body. To me it is obvious that the second set of alpha-numeric code is K. R. Ba 68301 not 68307. I haven't read through the whole thread yet so apologies if this has already been posted.

Thank you for the link, some new information there, also this sketch of her I have not seen before.

Interesting

I think the sighting at a Pennsylvania truck stop could also suggest she was traveling north - back to Canada, which is where I think she is from.

Clothing & Personal Items

Clothing:*She was wearing a white V - neck camisole (inexpensive) that was found to have been made in Carpi, Italy and non exportable, a green, brown, red checked trench coat (expensive), reversible to olive drab wool, size 40 (this size is unavailable in Canada and USA, must be European, possibly Italian, as their sizes follow a different scale than European sizes), blue gray wool crew neck pullover, plaid wool skirt (handmade) various shades of brown blue and red.

I wonder if she was wearing a Burberry coat. The colour combo sounds a bit gaudy but those are classic subdued colours for a small neat houndstooth check. Burberry made reversible trench coats in the 70s and 80s.

But it says it was possibly Italian. Doesn't Burberry usually have pretty clear branding? (Genuinely asking, I know nothing about fashion.)

On this site you can see pictures of her coat. Jane Doe Chautauqua County

And this is a clearer picture. 1678351261863.png
