trial day 33: the defense continues its case in chief #96

I've seen the public records for that house and know very, very well the financial and real estate climate in that area during the time in question. Based on that, I have no reason to think Travis had significant assets and doubt that he did. On the other hand, I similarly assume that neither he nor his roommates saw the crash coming and might have run their AC at $800/mo. levels

That isn't that much split among the three or four of them. jmo

Mimi said that she could smell the odor as soon as she walked in the door of Travis's house. I don't remember if it was Flores or some police officer who testified that the smell was really strong when he entered the house, but the guys who found Travis had left one of the double doors open by then.

I already got banned. :angel: I have to use a proxy server to even read there. LOL

Is it bad that this gives you even more credit in my book? Seriously, you had to be a pretty darn HONEST to get banned, love it!

And what the heck does PTSD have to do with the price of gas in Utah?

I've been thinking about her wearing a hoody with a front pocket during the murder. Before the shower photo session she could have told Travis something like this: I am going to put this hoody over my top so it doesn't get wet while the shower door is open while I am getting the pics. She could have hidden the knife & gun in the front pocket & she could easily slip this off & dispose of it after. She could pull the hoody up at any time during the photo session to protect her hair somewhat from blood spatter, etc. Just an idea......

:goodpost: and BBM

I was curious what method people might choose if they could decide her punishment. What you've said seems very appropriate.

As the niece of a wise guy, the method I'd pick wouldn't be as humane as that.

I have long said what the killer did to the innocent should be done to them. Put JA in a shower, surprise her with a knife and a gun and have it over with. Let her know the sheer terror, pain and agony she inflected on Travis.

What's with Jodi taking a pill?

She takes a pill or something ,,,23:03 as they are coming back from side bar

She is definitely taking something. The water chaser is a dead give away that she's not popping a Tic Tac. We know that the players in this trial are likely either reading here, or watching the HLN shows who steal the good stuff from the intelligent peeps here anyway, so we know the PT knows what's going on. Will we see a guard taking much more interest in the defendant tomorrow? Let's take a gander at what's changed since we commented on it:

1. Defendant no longer allowed to hide behind her hair curtain;
2. NG stopped wearing the annoying barrette;
3. Nurmi stopped picking his nose on camera;
4. JW and KN stopped dressing alike (didn't like the Tit and Tat reference I guess)
5. Mitigation specialist finally "buttoned up";

Not to mention NG's comments about testimony that day that sound eerily familiar to anyone who reads/posts here. :waitasec:

I would bet the PT is hearing about JA's little antics. I'm also betting someone will be keeping a closer eye on her. :eye:

I'm in central CA. It gets super hot here in the summer. IF my hubby would let me, I would have the AC down to about 70 and would probably need a sweater. Unfortunately, he's too cheap and we set it at 78. Never lived in Arizona though, so IDK, could be different. :twocents:

Well, prices in general are much lower here so that's probably why we can get away with running the AC all summer. I could not survive without it though, I am very warm blooded lol. It gets hard for me to breathe when it gets even a bit over 70 in my house. If I kept it that hot I would...oh, I don't even know.

Lemme tell you sister, I live in Scottsdale AZ and it is as hot as freakin' HADES in May, June, July, August and most of September! No sweaters 'round here!:furious:

The average temperature in June is 82 during the day and 47 at night in Yreka, Ca. Jodi was only in Arizona long enough to do whatever she did with Travis, kill him, clean up and leave. Travis had air conditioning...it's not like it was 107 degrees in his house. I think she was well covered up when she murdered him and those clothes were taken off...wrapped in something and destroyed in the desert. I also think she is just creepy enough to climb in the shower while he was laying dead beneath her.

And I believe that her clothes prevented her from getting all banged up...we know Travis fought her, but I think he had to have been in shock...both from the stab wound to chest and subsequent blood loss...and in shock over the fact that she attacked him. I think that explains why he stumbled to the sink, I honestly think he could not believe it.

And btw, I lived in So Cal for over 12 yrs...lived in Monterey for 3...

moo.

I have been listening to the witnesses the state called at the beginning of the trial. Several people mentioned that the dog had pooped and peed all over the house--they initially thought that was the smell. I can understand that--who would initially think that someone was murdered. For normal people that would not be the first thing they would think of

Poop and pee smell like decomp? I don't think so.

I keep hearing that there are lots of juror questions for Dr. Samuels. This makes me nervous. What on EARTH would they want to ask him? I don't think I'd believe him if he told me it was 2013. I'd look to make sure.
Lots of questions for a defense witness is a big red flag for the defense. Just like with JA, they had lots of questions that revealed that they really don't believe anything she is saying. If they were comfortable with what Samuels was saying they wouldn't have many questions.

I's always thankful I don't live in Arizona. I think I would probably die there. Quickly.

The fact she may have been wearing a sweater (as well as sweat pants and socks) now during the murder makes it even more likely that she snuck in and he had no idea she was there until seconds before he died.

SHE was the NINJA.

I'm so glad you raised that issue. It has been driving me insane that the roommates didn't investigate what had to be an increasingly hideous smell. Second floor bathroom with a window in... JUNE! I guess you have to live in AZ to get the heat and how truly bizarre their INACTION was. Obviously the key was readily accessible to the guy with the blondish hair... can't recall his name? Odd.
Not in my case. One time when I was visiting my cousins in Phoenix, it was 120 degrees and my car kept having problems- tires blown out, radiator and carburator problems too.

Mine is set at 68 and running right now in Southeast Louisiana !

How do you guys handle that? 68 would be a sauna for us! We keep the house at around 55-58 with wood heat. Holy cow...I would die in AZ......or las Vegas or S. California .....:truce:
