Just carrying this over from the last thread, interview with Daryl Brewer .. I'm still watching it, but what stands out to me is his repeated mentioning of the 'magical thinking' Jodi started to display. I think that is Daryl describing her illness getting worse. It's entirely possible she became worse as she got older.

Keep listening until he slips and indicates that she's an adult now, and responsible for her own behavior.

He also contradicts himself, talking about how strange and 'sick' she had become yet insisting that she was completely normal and happy borrowing his gas cans.

I'm just so confused about why Darryl Brewer cannot testify on JA's behalf? I realize the defense is probably setting her up for appeals, but it seems strange to me that he was all set and ready to go and then the defense basically gave no reason for why he was not allowed to testify. It was like it was a package deal, either both witnesses testify or none. I'm utterly confused.

I also find it bizarre how her ex of several years focuses on what a good worker she was, time and again. I mean, that's his takeaway? She was a good waitress?

I can only speak from my own life and experience but in my family and in prior generations, a very strong work ethic tells you much about the character of a person. I carry that to this day, so do my grown children. My Dad was 53 when I was born, my Mom was 33. My late husband was 15 years older than me. I think I got some of the best parts of my upbringing from the 'older' side of the family, namely, my Dad's. The age difference doesn't bother me at all. I have seen it work too well :)

I'm here, even though I'm not all there. I'll pop in once in awhile when I have time. :fence:

Yikes, I just watched the interview with DB and I have to say imho the guy appears so creepy. He sends shivers down my spine as he seems so ice cold and rehearsed. I keep flashing back to the movie Silence Of the Lambs when Hannibal Lecter said "I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti".
And I wonder if Jodi got the tongue flickering (lizard) from him?
:scared:

Strange huh

DB reminds me A LOT of my SO, who is 14 years older than me.
Head in the sand ALWAYS.
I wonder if it's an old guy thing?

One of the specialists, human detector, Janene? on DDr. said when one pushes their tongue out between their lips means they don't like what they are saying...hmm

Thank you, Dr. Drew. The mob mentality is exactly the point I was making here earlier today.

I think he just had so many other things going on in his life that he never realized she was developing mental health issues. When my younger brother developed schizophrenia it was a slow descent. He just seemed 'off' at some times, until he had his initial meltdown.

I thought it was funny that whenever he brought up the bills she would tell him not to talk negative.

I watched the interview. I did not not hear him say or even hint that JA had an illness that got worse when she joined PPl and the Mormon church. He said that was when he started to see a change in her and she began the "magical thinking".

Just want to shout out that I really appreciate the moderated forum and the efforts of the mods. When I heard "intimidation" and "threat to her life" from Nurmi today, I was glad that I've learned a little about appropriate sleuthing boundaries here. I keep learning, and I'm sure many others of us here do too. Thank you.

We didn't scare PW.

He creeps me out some how. He is so much older than Killer
When someone creeps you out, Aliz, go with your instincts. He creeps me out too, and here is why:

This man from a different generation picks Jodi up and strings her along for four years or more. Now he wants to say she changed overnight, well, hummmm.

First clue to the relationship is the way he refers to her as a girl. But she was a very responsible girl when she was with him; worked two jobs (he didn't have any money); was like an auntie to his son (never overstepped into a parenting role); accepted that he would not marry her and she would remain childless (so as not to take anything away from HIS son). ETA: His son who he almost refers to as his most prized possession.

Then she apparently used her $12,000 savings to buy a house for them both, but when his ex moves he's just outta there so Jodi takes all the loss on this deal. But she just changed overnight, and all he can think of is it happened when she started with PPL and the Mormons.

Yeah, right Mr. B. is a gem.

I understand why her mother isn't testifying for her but why not her sister, her brother, her grandmother? I would do anything for my granddaughter or my sister or brother, they would be fighting me to keep me off the stand .. is Jodie keeping them off?

I came away from the interview with a different impression. I had to shake off all the coincidental feelings I've allowed myself to develop for anyone who clearly supports JA. I have no reason to believe he's not honest and I think he spoke well of her, as to how she was before her PPL intro and the resultant change.
What or how she was prior to her time with Travis has no bearing on her penalty, IMO. And even he said that the person he knew was nothing like what he's seen on the stand, lying, being antagonistic. I agree that a perfect storm was brewing. She was getting more maladjusted and the change began. I do applaud him for showing his face. I am a firm believer that those with nothing to hide, hide nothing. I would not want to be in the shoes of anyone associated with this tragedy on JA's side, whether they still support her or not. That is an association that could and probably has cost some of them plenty. IMO

Didn't Jodie say! Take it for what it's worth.
She claimed they had a bad argument and she didn't like the way he was talking to her, it caused her to have a nervous breakdown. I don't think they had a perfect relationship and isn't telling everything.
She made it sound like he was patronizing her?

Anyone else think that perhaps Jodi has 'something' on DB - that she is blackmailing him from afar into saying nice things about her? He went from NOT wanting to be on camera to NOW doing interviews?!? And oh....remember that photo of private parts....Good grief!
I don't know. I found his interview cold and rehearsed. He was as smooth as Teflon. Maybe she pulled the wool over his eyes with sex acts and a lot of lies. But that guy still gives me the creeps.

I noticed that too and thought it was very intentional and it made me wonder what it meant...that is interesting to read the above.

Or they're wearing cheap, ill-fitting dentures...

Ya know, the next time my husband complains about me buying shoes and skincare I'm going to tell him not to talk negative.

AND he says he left his most precious "possession/son" with her. If I was his ex wife, DB would be wearing his testicles for earrings. WHAT THE HECK?????????????????????? This is his SON he's talking about.

Let's be fair. He specifically did not use the word "possession". He said it was his "son", and he trusted her. Obviously, he is not a good judge of character, but he went out of his way not to refer to his son as a possession.

Criminal Minds watchers-slightly OT but I just figured out who DB reminds me of-if you watch Criminal Minds, and have seen the episodes from a few years back where Hotchner's wife is killed, DB reminds me of that bad guy Foyet!

I was thinking of William H Macy in Fargo..and the character he played.
