NV - 59 Dead, over 500 injured in Mandalay Bay shooting in Las Vegas, 1 Oct 2017 #10

I cannot believe it's been two years already. It feels like ages ago, and just yesterday at the same time. With the Sutherland Springs shooting happening so soon afterwards, the Las Vegas attack seemed to fade from media attention so quickly.

I will always be bothered by this horrific event and the lack of motive, but I'm praying the families and survivors have been able to find closure.
I can't speak for all the families and survivors but the few I know have slowly started to get better but still have problems. Thankfully they have joined a survivors group that has helped them tremendously being able to be with and talk about how it effected them with people that went through it as well

I think this is very likely, but I struggle to think of a motive that the FBI/CIA would want to withhold. The public is already aware of mass-terror attacks driven by misogyny, racism, homophobia - even attacks which are based off of a certain political ideology and give certain politicians a bad look (don't want to get political here, but that much is already established).

What else could there be? Was Paddock working for the FBI in some capacity? How would that influence his motive?

I haven't done a lot of research on this case so I'm interested to hear others' opinions.
It's the FBI/CIA, when it comes to situations like this they'll do or say whatever they want. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if it ever came out they were involved somehow considering at least the FBIs history in certain situations

My suspicions NOT based on any facts/evidence but may have worked with the CIA at one point and went rogue. Would look bad to admit he was affiliated. JMO
The whole case is bizarre. Why bother to create a huge terrorist mass shooting not leave any manifesto or a clue why?
I agree with you.

As much as I hate to admit it—due to the stigma surrounding all things mental illness—I truly think this is one of the few cases where it played a major part.

And I’m not talking about a personality disorder—like psychopathy, or antisocial personality disorder, or borderline personality disorder. Because I believe that any person who commits an atrocity of this magnitude most certainly has one or more of those disorders. I’m talking about a mood disorder, like bipolar disorder (which both his doctor and gf believes he suffered from). If left unmanaged, bipolar disorder can convince a person of the most outlandish and illogical circumstances. (I know this because my mother has bipolar disorder and once made me watch a scrambled channel on TV for over an hour... “because God was going to appear on the screen, share a secret message with us, and it was our responsibility to share the message with the rest of the world.” Thirty minutes after I forced her to turn off the TV—because it was 3 o’clock in the morning—my dad had to take her to the hospital because she was convinced there was a poisonous gas inside our house and refused to let us go back in.)

Bipolar disorder can manifest itself in different ways. It can sometimes foster obsessions in those with radical ideations, which can then create paranoia and morph into something else altogether ugly... which is what I fear may have happened in this case.

Regardless, I don’t want this to be the case because individuals with bipolar disorder so rarely harm anyone but themselves. And it only gives the fear mongers that love to perpetuate negative stereotypes about mental illness more ammunition.

The Vegas shooting was two years to the day after the El Faro sank with the loss of all 33 crew. Before casinos like Mandalay Bay, there were saloons and gambling halls. The most popular game in the saloons and gambling halls of the old west was Faro. As I mentioned in the Robin Graham thread, there may be intentional disaster references in her 1970 disappearance and in a few probably related murders in the same area in 1968-79, which given the El Faro "coincidence" may be relevant in understanding Paddock, since Paddock was in high school in the same general area when the disappearance/murders happened.

Rose Tashman and Robin Graham both were last seen alive after experiencing car trouble on the Hollywood Freeway. Tashman's body was dumped in May 1969 along Mulholland Drive, named after the William Mulholland associated with the St. Francis Dam disaster that happened two days after James Earl Ray was born. The bodies of Marina Habe and Montrealer Reet Jurvetson were also dumped along Mulholland Drive. Ray stayed at the St. Francis Hotel in LA immediately before leaving LA a few weeks before killing MLK, RFK's middle name was Francis, and President Ford was shot at in front of the St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco. John Marshall High graduate Robin Graham vanished about 9.5 hours after the Marshall University Football team were lost at the Tri-State Airport in Huntington, WV, in the crash of Southern Airways Flight 932 on November 14, 1970. Her father worked for LA Department of Water and Power, the same agency (earlier called the Bureau of Water Works and Supply) which built the dam when Mulholland led it.

Paddock graduated from John H. Francis Polytechnic High School in 1971. Francis Polytechnic is just east of the Hollywood Freeway in Sun Valley. Could Paddock have been abused when a high school student by whoever killed Habe, Tashman, Jurvetson, and Tashman? Perhaps he was brainwashed by the abuser into at least partially believing that there be some mystical importance to aligning murder with disasters. The same brainwashing individual or individuals may have caused a similar thing to happen to serial killer Herbert Mullin. In late 1972 and early 1973, Herbert Mullin is believed to have killed 13 in the Santa Cruz area at least partially as a sacrifice to the earthquake spirits, which he supposedly felt obliged to do from his having been born on the anniversary of the San Francisco Earthquake of 1906, the only California disaster deadlier than the St. Francis Dam disaster. San Francisco is Spanish for St. Francis, and three of Mullin's victims were Kathy Francis and her two sons.

Yes- where is the manifesto/ where are the clues? Could be government cover-up, but could also be deep pockets/payoffs of MGM/Mandalay Bay. They squashed, ducked, covered, and silenced employees early on. There were settlements with non-disclosure clauses. No documentary segments on crime tv. All extremely bizarre. Just search “Mandalay Bay cover up”. Hopefully some gutsy producer will make a movie one day using whistleblower research & we’ll get a better insight into what the **** really happened there.

What Happened In Vegas — ‘Money Machine’ Unpacks The Sordid Aftermath Of The 2017 Mass Shooting

It was the deadliest mass shooting by an individual in U.S. history, and yet, as a new documentary from director Ramsey Denison posits, all but forgotten in the popular consciousness. We still talk about Parkland, which occurred just four months after the Vegas shooting; we still talk about Sandy Hook, which occurred almost five years before. Those names, like Aurora, Colorado, the Pulse nightclub, and Columbine, are forever synonymous with the tragedies that occurred there. Why not Las Vegas?

Rather than focusing on the shooting itself, Denison revisits the months that came after. What he reveals is a web of corruption and cover-ups that make the Vegas of yesteryear, when it was still run by the mob, seem positively quaint. In Denison’s telling, a Las Vegas controlled by huge corporations and a compromised police department is vastly more nefarious than the city built and run by gangsters well into the 1980s.

Denison, whose previous film, What Happened in Vegas, looked into unchecked police brutality within the LVPD, has clear affection for the city and its people, but equal disdain for the powers that control it. With Money Machine, he isn’t interested in giving any more airtime to those who might try and spin the story for their own benefit. He chooses instead to give voice to those MGM and Sheriff Lombardo might just as soon try to silence.

That would be nice considering how little we know. Some of the audio where you can hear two different caliber rifles firing simultaneously doesn't make any sense

Awww. That’s a sweet story. That’s wonderful.

Judge approves $800M Las Vegas shooting settlement

Tomorrow is the three year "anniversary". October 1, 2017. For some people, October 1st, 2017 is as memorable as "9/11".

The money is truly meaningless for people whose lives changed forever that day. If money can solve all of your problems, you really don't have any problems...it is pretty trite, to have money to pay for medical treatment, lost wages, when you are dealing with physical health problems that will never go away.

Court OKs $800M settlement in mass shooting at MGM Mandalay Bay Las Vegas resort

The action makes final a deal settling dozens of lawsuits on the eve of the third anniversary of the mass shooting that killed 58 people and injured more than 850 at an open-air concert near the Mandalay Bay resort.

Memorial ceremonies are scheduled Thursday at several venues in Las Vegas, including a reading of the names of the slain beginning at 10:05 p.m. — the time the first shots rang out.

Today makes the 3 year anniversary of this case and I am actually still working it to this day. This is perhaps the case I am most known for but it took on a very personal tone and I will carry this case with me forever. No case has affected me like this one. Today also marks the release of the documentary for the case by Ramsey Denison called Money Machine that goes into what happened after the shooting and why it was largely ignored by the media despite the fact it was the largest mass shooting in United States history. When I catch up I will take a look at some of the older questions here and see if I can help. If you have any questions feel free to ask. I lived this one for 3 years so no question is off the table.
Here is one of the trailers.

3 Years Ago Today We A Tragedy Unfolded at the Route 91 Concert In Las Vegas. At CES in 2018 Intel created a light show using 250 drones. It was to have an ending that honored the then 58 fallen angels. We have lost 2 more since then. I felt the light show could be a bit better, perhaps, so I made my own variation of it. I hope everyone likes it. Here is a link to the original version by Intel. https://newsroom.intel.com/video-arch... Intel Corporation’s drones perform in sequence with the fountains outside the Bellagio in Las Vegas during a rehearsal for the light shows that will accompany the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show (CES). Intel’s drone light shows feature the Intel® Shooting Star™ drone, the first-ever drone created for entertainment light shows. The Shooting Star drones are equipped with LED lights that can create more than 4 billion color combinations and can be easily programmed to create almost any dazzling animation in the sky. Watched Money Machine doc on Amazon last night. My whole family was disgusted- not really too surprised though. What did happen to that VegasStrong money- what was it, 12MM? Why hasn’t Sheriff Lombardo been forced to answer that question? Sickened to learn that the memorial that names the victims was sited 7 miles from the site of the shooting. Also nauseating to learn that Mandalay Bay will basically pay zero in settlement fees since the paltry payout is coincidentally nearly equal to what insurance will cover. Not clear if that money will pay each of the 4500 recipients equally, or take into consideration death vs. injury, medical expenses, etc.? I found the testimony of the blond woman (can’t recall her name) very compelling. I’m hoping her courage will prompt others to speak out. Guessing the settlement included a non-disclosure/ gag order clause? I hope they find a way around it.

My family & I have vacationed in Vegas a few times & considered it a fun getaway of sorts. After this doc, we unanimously decided we will never go again. I’m sure there are thousands of good people working these tourism jobs that depend on & deserve their income. But to support the “machine” (after the massacre & behemoth suing the victims) just wouldn’t feel right to us. We’re out. Moo

Mike Turber
will answer questions LIVE on the Dudes N Beer podcast hosted by
Christopher Jordan
Ram and Mike will talk about things never revealed to the public before.

On the night of October 1, 2017, Stephen Paddock, a 64-year-old man from Mesquite, Nevada, opened fire upon the crowd attending the Route 91 Harvest music festival on the Las Vegas Strip in Nevada. Between 10:05 and 10:15 p.m. PDT, he fired more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition from his 32nd floor suites in the Mandalay Bay Hotel, killing 60 people[a] and wounding 411, with the ensuing panic bringing the injury total to 867. About an hour later, Paddock was found dead in his room from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His motive remains officially undetermined.

The $12M was moved to another 503 organization and finally distributed. These people needed that money in the beginning. By the time it was sent out many had lost their homes.
Lombardo finally did acknowledge where it went. What a piece of work he is.
Agree on the fact MB is barely out of pocket. The odds that the amount of the settlement and the insurance coverage being damn near the same are just astronomical.
I work with the claimants' probono on their claims. Each claim is a different amount and is based on the category of injury or trauma they endured.
Katherine Thornton is the blonde and she is a lawyer too! She is amazing and listening to her describe what she saw is heartbreaking. It has truly affected her deeply.
Yes, all claimants were under a gag, and even I was as it related to some of the things I was doing behind the scenes.
I will be releasing some of that info very soon, including the only interview Eric Paddock ever gave. He and I have actually become friends and we discussed everything about this case. So it should be interesting.
