Found Alive France - Alex Batty, 11 from Oldham Uk, parental abduction, 2017 *found alive in France after walking in Mountains*

An understandable reaction from Alex who seems like a nice lad and appears quite level-headed for his age. If he does have a family of his own at some stage, he may not have such a clear cut view about his mum and grandfather's actions. What they did was highly irresponsible and his mother's...

Found Alive France - Alex Batty, 11 from Oldham Uk, parental abduction, 2017 *found alive in France after walking in Mountains*

Alex seems to be doing catch up courses at a local college (UK type) with a view to studying at University at some stage. The family comes across as very grounded, decent people. Alex is apparently highly intelligent, keen to learn and I don't think he will look back now. Alex devoured the Harry...

Found Alive France - Alex Batty, 11 from Oldham Uk, parental abduction, 2017 *found alive in France after walking in Mountains*

Yes, he has lost a great deal of ground and will have to make that up somehow. The college course is probably something like a computing coding course to get his foot in the door but he will need a specially tailored programme. College doesn't mean the same in the UK as the US and some college...

As more and more emerges (sorry it's The S*n) it becomes clear what a raw deal Alex got when he was away. Neglectful and inadequate parenting was the order of the day. Found Alive France - Alex Batty, 11 from Oldham Uk, parental abduction, 2017 *found alive in France after walking in Mountains*

Alex came across very well in his interview but he may feel less kindly towards his mother and grandfather as time goes on. I feel angry on his behalf. They denied him a lot; his teenage experience where many lifelong friendships are formed, his right to an education as well as tearing him from...

Found Alive France - Alex Batty, 11 from Oldham Uk, parental abduction, 2017 *found alive in France after walking in Mountains*

Yes. That's still unclear but I felt by making himself invisible during the day he didn't want anyone coming after him. The driver/rescuer seemed to believe he'd been walking for four days, foraging for food which would be a familiar practice to him. I don't think there's any great mystery at...

Found Alive France - Alex Batty, 11 from Oldham Uk, parental abduction, 2017 *found alive in France after walking in Mountains*

It's possible they worked it out together but what makes me question that is him walking alone at night, concealing himself by day. Despite their ramshackle lifestyle, I would have thought they'd have helped him with tickets for some kind of transport. The pharma student/driver seemed...

Found Alive France - Alex Batty, 11 from Oldham Uk, parental abduction, 2017 *found alive in France after walking in Mountains*

Having grown up with a feckless mother who was mentally ill (as I suspect his mother might be), I can empathise with Alex's situation. I don't think he concocted a story with his grandfather and mother but has created a cover story to protect them. In fact, I think he took off without telling...

UK - Sara Sharif, 10, found murdered in house, Surrey, Aug 2023 *POIs sought*

People have been focusing on cultural issues here but imo I think it is more likely she suffered at the hands of a violent man - maybe not helped by the fact her mother wasn't around to look out for her.

It may be the actions of an evil step mother and the child was scapegoated <modsnip - no link> It won't have happened out of the blue - the red flags will have been there.

    Found Deceased France - Émile S., 2, outside grandparent’s house, Le Vernet, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, 8 July 2023

"The former major of the Research Brigade (BR) of the Digne-les-Bains gendarmerie, retired in 2009, worked from 1989 to 1999 on the disappearance of Yannis Moré. “The two leather shoes are placed side by side and the laces are undone. I remain convinced that someone left them, perhaps out of...

    Found Deceased France - Émile S., 2, outside grandparent’s house, Le Vernet, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, 8 July 2023

It's a strange one because the chances of being abducted are vanishingly small and in a remote hamlet even more so. No one expected him to be there so what are the chances? Yes, people do secret themselves to end their lives but in the case of a toddler, he would have just dropped down from...

I believe the River Ariege runs along the west edge of the town. A moderately wide river, not sure what the flow is this time of year though.

I think it's common after a shocking event for contradictory versions of what took place to emerge until things settle down. If it was just the grandparents there, what a terrible burden of guilt. Parents tend to be hypervigilant towards toddlers but this could happen to anyone.

UK UK - Finn Creaney, 32, dropped off Loch Naver, Sutherland to start hillwalking route, 25 Mar 2022

I totally respect the family's relentless search for him. If it was a close family member of mine, I'd do exactly the same. In the event of no explanation, you keep looking for one. I hope they find out what happened to Finn and can move forward in their lives.
