The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office is currently looking for a missing woman from Alabama who was traveling with a man who threatened to commit suicide Saturday.
Just before noon, deputies responded to a call of a man with a gun at a gas station near the Highway 1077 exit on Interstate 12, and over the next several hours, deputies were engaged in a stand-off with the man, identified as Johnathon Nall from Mobile, Ala.
Nall was taken into custody after deputies fired a less-than-lethal round (bean bag) at him, striking him in the head.
Deputies also learned that Nall was traveling from Mobile to Texas with his girlfriend, 26-year-old Melinda Denny, also from the Mobile area.
Much earlier, Saturday morning, around 1:30 a.m., the Sheriff’s office received a call from Nall’s mother in Alabama who requested that deputies check on the whereabouts of Nall and Denny, as they were said to be in a parking lot on Highway 21 and needed money for gas.
Responding deputies made contact with the two and both subjects reported they were okay.
No additional contact was made with the pair until Nall was seen Saturday morning at the gas station.
Denny has not yet been located, and deputies are searching the area for the woman.
