surprisingly that is what I remember from last week...she doesn't and wishes she did for "sentimential" reasons....

She doesn't remember what she DREW?? Seriously? That just doesn't happen in my experience. Especially if it's given to someone... maybe I'm misunderstanding. If not, that just does not fly.

Gosh I'm so tired of her that I actually looked at my clock hoping for the lunch break.

Who in the world (man, woman, relative, co-worker) could tolerate her for more than a day? She would drive me bat-carp-crazy if I had to work with her or deal with her in the real world. I'd lose my temper with her, too.

Speaking of tempers, the one who REALLY lost theirs is JA herself, not Travis. That's about as lost as a temper can get.
(shudder)

What man, woman, or masochist would get up at 5 am to drive you 100 miles to rent a car when there are heaps of car rental places right where you are to start with if there isnt a little something something in it for them? Whoever it was, did we hear from them during the state's case?

I think she gave it up for Gus Searcy and got herself a cell phone for the, um, exchange.

Pardon if this has already been discussed (and may need to be in the armchair psych thread) but I am really beginning to wonder if JA is "confabulating" (ie: telling stories based upon a story JA told herself that is not necessarily based in other people's reality just hers) or if she is actually lying because it is just so second nature to get out of being held accountable for her own actions?

I understand she has huge motive at this point in time (ie: avoid the death penalty) but TA was pointing this out to her in these text messages. . . . . JA did not just start Lying at the time she murdered TA but this is a pattern of behavior over an extended period of time. She lies when she doesn't need to . . . .she lies to make up lies and all of them have some thread of an interwoven speck of truth.

In my experience I know some Elderly people who will sometimes try to avoid showing they are having memory lapses and will confabulate by telling inordinate details to prove it . . . . ie; what did you have for breakfast today? . . . . I had 2 eggs poached not boiled, with toast and orange marmalade because I remember the toast dropped to the floor and landed jam side down, and then I sat down and the sun was coming through the curtain and I had to move to get the sun out of my eyes . . ..etc.

Anyone have any thoughts on "confabulation"?
Lying, making up elaborate stories is what psychopaths do all the time; even when they don't need to. It's second-nature to them. Oh - and they love to get people riled up and confused.

I think Jodi has finally realized that she is going to be put to death for killing Travis.

Reverse the genders and were not even having this discussion. IMO

Actually, several posts have pointed out that if Jodi were a "real" abuse victim, she wouldn't have taken his calls, ignored his texts, etc. and that she was 1000 miles away, so what could she possibly have to fear?

Real abuse victims, male or female, cannot be responsible for what their stalkers/abusers do. Yes, they can take some measures to get that person out of their life, but it doesn't guarantee anything. :(.

I just read a post from a DA survivor who said she lives an ocean away and still doesn't always feel safe. I cannot imagine having to go thru that and I hope to G*d I never do.

There was a lot of discussion about the Walmart receipt over the weekend. I think it was pretty conclusively established that there was no hair color on that receipt. What some speculated was hair color seems to have been sunscreen.

Thanks for that update AZL. Too bad it wasn't the hair-color afterall.:notgood::notgood::notgood:

Why doesn't the judge pull Nurmi aside and say; I know what your doing. Your giving her the answers so after the objection she has the answer. STOP IT!!

299 guests??? :waitasec:

It's not a pain to join. The emus are friendly.

Don't listen to him. I have the little teeth marks to prove it!

I want to know why the heck she did not get pregnant???

I wondered that too. It seems like one of the first things she would do to try to keep any one of these guys she obsessed about.

A lot of discussion about this trial just being about life or death. Could Jodi not have gotten a deal to plead guilty, if the death penalty was taken off the table? I thought most states did that now just to save the cost of the trial, and the guarenteed appeals, if successful in getting the DP.
Also, when you are dating, and the alarm goes off in your head, Oh no, she's a psycho!
Get a restraining order and a gun. Change the locks and computer passwords. Give one notice, 'don't ever let me see you around here again'. AND nail the doggie door shut.
I think most nut jobs like the back and forth, as much as the relationship. End it. Period. This is my experience, and I have never dated anyone close to a Jodi.
I think the sex was the problem. Seems like Travis was a little slow getting started, and when he hooked up with Jodi, he was totally overwhelmed. Most 30 yr olds would be somewhat over that, and realize there is plenty more out there, that are not crazy. He wasn't to that point yet. And it seems like what he wanted for a wife, was not going to be into the pre-marital sex.

IIRC, the state refused to play ball with her. They would not accept any deal and wanted to keep the death penalty on the table. After seeing her in action and how she has mercilessly tried to desecrate Travis Alexander's memory and reputation, I can understand why.

I think your post is a reminder that we need to teach our boys about danger as thoroughly as we teach our girls. Too many guys don't understand what danger certain red flags actually may portend.

I totally agree with the sex being the problem and that in Travis' world, there were few women willing to engage in unfettered, premarital sex.

Very overcast and cold in Las Vegas too....

I bet that is a welcome change!!!

fury and wrath are words of a script..

they are not words that people just "say"

I am sure the jury gets that.

eta: nevermind about wrath! I just read what getReal said about that word

Jodi is fond of TV and movies (Lord knows when she had the time for either with all of that driving, traveling, sexual activity!), so maybe she got the words from titles like The Sound and the Fury and Grapes of Wrath.

But WHY, WHY, WHY did he let her back in the house?!!!!!!:what:

He was going to have to deal with this girl for awhile- she owed him between $4,500-6,000 dollars for the purchase of his BMW. Those two figures were ones given by JA in court. She said a friend at her work offered him $4,500 cash for his car- he told her no- he could easily get $6,000!

That is a lot of money she owed him, IMO.

It is speculation, but I would add Gus to person she may have had a relationship with. He said he invited her over for a couple nights stay I think. Any overnight stay leaves room for him trying to catch her on the rebound since she told him she had a fight with boyfriend.

Not sure who drove her to the rental car.

She has worn several different pairs of glasses since the trial started. None of them show any distortion that you see on anyone with prescription lenses. I say they are purely cosmetic as a ruse to subtly influence the jurors in her favor.

Then again, if I were her attorney, I would advise her to do the same. It's strategy.

That's exactly what I looked for and found none as well - the distortion. Jodi takes off her glasses to read - and she's done it on the stand a number of times. I do the same - take off my glasses to read, because I only need them to see far away or to drive (I have no astigmatism). However, in all my photos with glasses there is a very distinct distortion line that makes the line of my cheek look very distorted - and I don't even have that strong of a prescription. Jodi's glasses lack distortion - an indicator to me that there is no magnifying qualities to the lense. Just props. And her CONSTANT fidgeting with them is just so transparent and obvious.

I can see them saying she was in a "fog" when she killed him :banghead:

See, if I was on the jury, I would conclude there's no way she was 'in a fog' when she killed him. I mean, she stole a gun, rented a car, died her hair, turned her lic plate upside down, brought gas cans, took photos of her handy work and TRIED to erase them and then covered her tracks with everyone.

Nope, doesn't compute as a {FOG} to me.

Although I'd like them to SAY that, but then the jury will reject it, IMHO.

JMHO

In Cali if you fail the eye chart screening, you must wear your glasses for the photo ID and of course for driving. You will be cited if caught not wearing corrective lenses while driving.

In most states that's referred to as a restricted license.

Can someone please tell me, did JA ever explain what she did with the knife and gun?

We haven't gotten that far . . . we have gone from childhood to May 2008 . . . every other detail you might want to know about her life is probably discussed in some previous testimony . . . . where she was driving, how she was feeling, where she was going, who she spoke to, what her thoughts were @ the time, what she was eating/drinking along with the corresponding temperature of the item at the time she consumed it.

I once heard an expert on stalking (an FBI lady, I forget her name) say that you should never engage the stalker, even negatively; they feed off any attention given to them by their victim.

Yes, and you have to treat some mutual friends as sub stalkers and treat them the same way. I had a sitch years ago with a guy so that when I went out he would hear reports (and I would have complete strangers walk up to me and say things I knew came from him too), so I stopped going out and socialised at non-mutual friends houses, I also cut ties completely with all mutual friends and anyone he could use to get info about my movements .. this brought him out in the open so my response to anything that happened was to say nothing but to glaze over as if bored to death. It actually WORKED!! Mind you I'm not saying Travis had the same chance, I don't believe the guy who did this to me was actually a psychopath or even borderline.

Regardless, we were told in the opening posts that we were not to talk about the defendant's family members.

They are not on trial.

Actually, it says not to discuss the Victim's family.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

I can't believe Nurmi and Jodi stretched a whole morning out with text arguments. Smh. I wonder what the jury is thinking. did katiecoollady and PASA get inside the courtroom today? I feel bad for them as well.

Oh no, this could never go lower than first degree and LWOP

The State has already proved premeditation. Defense is going for self-defense. So far it's not going well. It's hard to say self defense when you steal the weapon, rent a car because the finance company took your car, travel a thousand miles, spending large amounts of money on fuel just to "drop by" for a few minutes to say hi. Not working 99% of us to date. jmo
