Bulldog23: Have you ever considered how these convenience stores get the tag numbers of vehicles who drive off and do not pay for purchases inside/fuel pumps? Most stores have exterior security cameras at upper far end to get maximum span across front side to pump area.

Great point, but I'm not sure about the technology back in 1999. No DVR's back then so everything would have went to a vhs tape, right? Remember Johnny B trying to check out the tape at the local movie store? I think I get your point... if law enforcement have these tapes, which they should have, why haven't they released more footage to find the perps? It is a good question....

Headland payphone call pinging of Skipperville tower was to driver of white truck, was already there waiting on them; after arriving, drove in Ms. Merritt, by then witnessing Ms. Hawlett speaking on payphone. All three vehicles drove out in succession turning right towards town; if you recall Bulldog23 Ms. Merritt attempted to get corrected AMW airing after her viewing of not being right, but was adamantly denied any changes. Ms. Beasley's vehicle was thought to have had a car telephone, albeit inop for whatever reasons, may could have been electrical due left side windows inop up/down waiting on parts to repair accounts for both driver's and passenger's driver's side windows down.

The phone Skipperville tower ping from Headland which Ms. Hawlett made involved the occupants of the white truck, already at the store waiting for them. This truck was also noticed by Ms. Merritt upon arrival.


The investigators claim that truck left for Delaware. If it didn’t leave town but was painted yellow the next day. Who would that make the driver be?


The girls, Ms Merritt and the white truck followed each out in succession in turning right towards downtown.


The AMW statement Ms Merritt wanted corrected wasn’t the fact that the girls needed directions from Ozark to Dothan. They wanted to get home as quickly as possible. I believe the girls confided in Ms Merritt that they felt they were in danger.


Do we know for a fact that a field party that night even existed? Sounds like this map was given to the girls so the offenders that evening would know their location.



The tape from inside the store doesn’t provide all the of information but I suspect that if a tape existed from the outside it would show a boy/man with tattoos entering the backseat of the girls car.


Ms Merritt was in the process of escorting the girls home when she lost site of them in her review mirror.


If anyone has the autopsy reports then if it’s true that JB had a tattoo then these boys she could have met at the tattoo parlor near Andrews Avenue (GLPP) and Montgomery Highway.

Does this mean that the girls were intentionally meeting the boys in the White Truck? A planned meeting.

TJtennispro: Thank you for your observations. Some amending required though, this white truck was not repainted yellow, the yellow truck referred ton earlier was an S-10 low rider friend's of theirs; neither of them would have had any reason at that particular point in time to express to Ms. Merritt/daughter of them being in fear, due the very fact the driver was a close friend; and good possibility that Ms. Hawlett got into truck and another with Ms. Beasley, maybe Cherry; if you remember Ms Hawlett from Headland payphone speaking aloud to Ms. Beasley to hurry up...."that they" leading one to believe whomever she was speaking with was more than one this message is being erased

They stopped out at a grocery store. A white, 19 year old male wearing a white, short-sleeved t-shirt was driving a black pickup truck. He had straight, dark brown hair and was cut in a “barber cut.” He was known to the girls at the time.

There is a lake about 1 mile away from the store the girls visited.

I'm not sure I completely follow the direction of the thread recently, although it's always encouraging to see new interest in the case and justice for these girls. I drove through Ozark recently late one night on the way home from work and thought of them the whole time. This was such a tragedy.

There were 2 known Field Parties that night:

1) The Haleburg Field Party - this was the party that was partially for JB's Birthday. Whomever was throwing the party, handed out handwritten/drawn maps (it was posted in the old deleted Thread #3, can't remember poster's screenname) JB's friend from Dance School, Jana, was involved in this party someway, I do not know, if it was at her families' property or on property near where Jana lived. But this party has been confirmed by people who did attend and Jana.

2) The Skipperville Field Party - On an episode of the podcast "Fear Based Life", the producer/director of "Shined Rabbit", Victoria Silver stated that after leaving Headland, JB and Tracie stopped at a Field Party in or near Skipperville, I have never seen detailed description of where this party was exactly. Everyone commonly refers to it as the Skipperville field party. VS stated that Ozark Police had confirmed this party and spoke to people, who attended and confirmed that JB and Tracie were there. The same poster, who posted the handwritten Haleburg Party map, also stated that Ozark Police had spoken to people who attended the Skipperville Party and confirmed that JB and Tracie were there. Both VS and the poster said the people who attended said JB and Tracie were there only a short time.

I am not trying to argue or attack any posters, but I am more inclined to discuss facts that can be c0rroborated. I try to always say, where any information I am posting has come from. This is not a rule, and I'm not against theories, but things should not be stated as fact without a source in MOO. For example, for the sake of discussion:

1) phone call from Headland gas station pay phone by Tracie Hawlett pinged a Skipperville cell tower - where does this information come from? Does it come from more than 1 source? If the police had the call record of the pay phone, how did they know which number Tracie dialed? If the call is from a pay phone, which does not ping cell towers, then the recipient had to have been on a cell phone in order for there to be a cell tower ping, how did the police know which calls from the pay phone were cell numbers and which tower they pinged? They would have to have gotten records from every carrier in the area at that time and matched them back to the pay phone records. I'm not saying it would be impossible, but it would have been a needle in a haystack.

2) The recipient of the Headland pay phone call was an occupant of the white truck, which was later on video at the Big/Little in Ozark - where does this information come from? Does it come from more than 1 source?

JB's family has confirmed that JB had a cell phone, one that was independant from the car, I believe. It did not seem to me, like a car phone that was installed in the car. I could be wrong about this, but someone correct me on this, if they know. Regardless, Jacqui and the family confirmed that JB was out of minutes, which would make sense, because it was the last day of the month. Also, family and friends have offered that at the time in 1999, cell service was spotty in the rural areas, once you left a city like Dothan or Ozark.
