Unless they had new identities to be admitted to a birthing unit, doubt it, one or more of the women delivered babies at home. No pre/post natal care. Like Jaycee case, crazy.

I'm sure none of them has seen a dentist or doctor or schoolroom the whole time!

I'm shocked speechless and overjoyed with this good news. It gives hope to other families with missing children.

That makes me feel a little better. It just made me feel so sad that Gina only has 2 pages in 2004 here, and as the poster above notes, it is because she is not a blue eyes blond. It is really a shame,

I think they just said on CNN that Amanda's mom had died, very sad, Amanda's happiness in gettin rescued has to be tempered by that news

BBM.. to be fair, I'm sure there were also a lot fewer people on Websleuths at that time. I'd venture to guess fewer on the 'net in general too, but I don't know for sure. I applaud the family for keeping Gina's name and face out there. It sounds like there was a lot of awareness about her in the local area, even though she didn't have a lot of followers here on WS.

Ariel Castro's uncle was just interviewed and he doesn't know if his nephew wrote the article.

But it sounds like the uncle haven't seen him in many years.
So he is in no position to know.

CNN stating that the two other men arrested are his brothers.

Watching local news, WKYC, on TV now, and they keep reporting that three people are in custody--Castro and two other people. (Allegedly his brothers. Source: https://twitter.com/betsykling) They had tweeted that hours ago, and seem to be the only ones to confirm at the moment.

Local news also just reported this: https://twitter.com/BetsyKling/status/331606549581688833

She's a good source for local news, as are these reporters:

I do not think they would have arrested the brothers unless the girls told them about them.... Which is SICK!! If he had accomplices running his own little brothel there that is sick!!

I am comforted by the fact that the girls had each other.

I wonder if something spurred Amanda to call. Perhaps she saw the imminent need to do something to protect the little girl.

Either that or he got sloppy. He let his guard down and they were waiting to pounce to get out.

Usually in this situation, we see the victim being brainwashed, ie. eliZabeth Smart denied at first who she was and Jaycee and Shawn were no forthcoming, one would have thought that after 10 years these girls would have been brainwashed I wonder if something in their circumstances was different than Jaycee, etc that they were not as brainwashed.

It just is unusual for a victim of 10 years to make the call to rescue themselves.

CNN reports 3 men arrested, including his brothers.

CNN confirming but no link as is live.

This statement scares me. My daughter is African American and the most beautiful little girl in the world. I would hate to think that if something happened to her that people wouldn't care.

That said, I think it is also an affluence thing as well. This is Cleveland. Crimes happen every day there. I am sure the woman dispatcher did have her switchboard lighting up with several other urgent calls as well-shootings, robberies, etc...and that's why she seemed to give Amanda the bums rush.

Also, there is the element of "this shouldn't happen here." When we hear of things happening in the "inner city" we think, well, that's par for the course. Gangs, drugs, poverty, etc... There is also the element of people believing that girls of this age are runaways, especially of these means.

When an affluent child goes missing from a quiet neighborhood, it shocks people. They don't think a child would just run away from a beautiful home. Yet for some reason, I think when people here of "city cases" they almost resign themselves to thinking it happens all the time.

I am just so happy these girls were found safe and I hope they can heal from this horrible chapter of their lives.

Please don't get me wrong I honestly believe the public CARES a great deal no matter the race, I just think it is the media that fuels the case.
And the average person isn't haunting WS or following true crime boards so they only get the information the media generates.

3 people in custody for these kidnappings.. Ariel and his 2 brothers... as bad as that news is it does make things a bit clearer.

3 men arrested: CNN reporting, other 2 are his brothers.

It now says disturbed soil found in the backyard

Possibly the other teen missing from 2007 or perhaps additional children born into this this horrible nightmare. I fear so many more things are going to come out in the coming days.
