Bushwalkers made the grisly find in the Macedon Regional Park on Monday.

Forensic testing identified the badly decomposed remains as those of the 47-year-old mother-of-one on Tuesday.

By Wednesday morning her husband was seeking the advice of his lawyer, according to Fairfax Media.

apologies, i'm going only from memory, could have sworn the ID was made same day as discovery ... perhaps it was a tentative ID rather than forensic.
eitherway, there's a bit to see in the progressive stills taken from media footage of the site as it was cleared.

That may be the case.
Though, msn reported Tuesday.

Two plain-clothes detectives visited the Ristevski's Oakley Drive home shortly before 5pm on Tuesday. They left alone about 5.45pm.

Minutes later, police released a statement confirming the body was that of Ms Ristevski.

Soon after, friends and family started arriving at the Avondale Heights property, which is also home to Mr and Ms Ristevski's 21-year-old daughter Sarah.

On Monday, a bushwalker stumbled across what police had been searching for for nearly eight months.

Ms Ristevski's remains were found between two logs, not far from a dirt track off Loch Road in Mount Macedon Regional Park about 12.30pm

“Obviously you fear the worst but we will just have to wait and see if it’s her,” nephew Chris Ristevski told the Herald Sun.
“It would be a bit surprising because the police told us they were searching in the Diggers Rest area.”
Police are not commenting on speculation. The remains will be taken for forensic testing to try to determine the identity and the cause of death.

I find this comment interesting.

To my knowledge, results of Karen's post mortem examination and her cause of death have not been released to the media, as investigators remain tight-lipped on this?

the Dsite was swarming with investigators&media shortly after discovery ... i think we were ALL following the updates intently as they went to air, at which time i began to reap and zoom on stills from the media footage throughout that day; ordering the stills into a chronological sequence as the Dsite was "swept clean"
... VERY interesting.

i chose not to upload the edits to thread alerting to the shamefully morbid side of my nature[emoji15], also feeling it would be in poor taste and disrespectful to KR to do so ... but if you can be bothered, i'v basically told you how to research this for yourself.

you may recall a photo in which there was [what we debated as possibly being] a skull, visible between the logs. imo, when ACA 'bumped into' VR who had allegedly been poking around with a stick, he was checking for the presence of that debated skull.

further, take into consideration
^as i recall from media reports>
-KR was discovered approx 12.30, midday
-she had been forensically identified by mid afternoon
-forensics did not leave the Dsite with her remains until approx 2230ish ... many hours later

Thanks that explains a lot.
So the photos of the Dsite taken on the day Karen's remains were found (where the twigs and branches were visible between the logs) were possibly taken before the remains were removed?

Correct - I believe they know but are holding this ace close to their chest. Maybe there is info about how she died that only the killer will know.

well, that is my opinion, oona.
if my obs were correct, she appeared to be clothed.

The cyclist didn't find her, he gave his diary to police because he had recorded the odour in the area (what a diarist!).

I'm with you , I find him to be odd too in the whole process .
First tried to act all worried by posting "one" Facebook message on 3 July asking for help to try and find his Aunty ," missing without a trace". Follow up to his fellow FB friends a day later was that the detectives were taking over . Then silence ....

Then came that strange interview, which seemed like he was trying to deflect from the real "who dun it", spilling everything he thought about his cousin Anthony Rickard so we could raise our suspicions with him. Which is why maybe he thought police would focus around there?

Then came the strange comments once he was told they had found human remains which could be Karen's.

No real sympathy expressed about losing his aunt ever. Felt more like he was trying to help cover up for someone.

I also did note , whether it has any significance or not that he updated his ABN details for his business on 18 May 2017.

Just curious when these photos were taken in the link.....seems like the debris was still there...in seperate photos it appears "dogs" were near or on the actual site..

Please tell me these photos weren't taken before police got to the area...

The debris photos were taken from helicopter when the story was breaking and should not have been reproduced as stills [emoji45] as it is clearly the crime scene untouched.

[h=1]Witness in Karen Ristevski case says he'd have 'no problem' identifying 'shovel man'[/h]

February 23, 2017, 7:09 pm

Gary Salt and his wife Sandy spoke to police on Monday at Mount Macedon, where the missing mother’s remains were found hidden under a log.
Mr Salt dropped the bombshell breakthrough on investigators, but wouldn’t reveal to 7 News if that person he saw was Karen’s husband Borce.

I wonder what Sarah thinks about her father's shovel having soil from the same place as the attempted burial site?

I do get that she loves her father, but how long can you be in denial if you also loved your mother?

I'm bringing info forward.

This is has a snippet of autopsy results, interviews with Aunt Patricia, Steve Richardson and shovel man.

What happened that night is said to have rattled the motorist so much he would later report it to local police.

Before he was ushered away from media, the middle-aged man wearing business clothes said that the person he had seen carrying the shovel had "expressionless" eyes.
The man has been asked not to talk publicly, but even before the body was discovered and there was any connection to Ms Ristevski, the tale had been circulating around the small community.

On Monday, Dean approached police directly at the taped area of Loch Rd where the body was found.
“I would have no problem standing up in a court of law and repeating what I saw,” Dean said.
“I’m quite convinced.
“My only purpose for coming forward to speak to the media is not to get publicity but to make sure the person responsible is caught — to make sure there is justice.”
The local dad and businessman also reported seeing bags of concrete and lime.
Also in July, News photographer Jay Town was walking in bush on the side of Loch Rd, about 40m from where the body would be found, when he came across empty bottles of industrial strength fertiliser.
Feeling uneasy, he phoned police then, and spoke to detectives this week

Anyone watch 7 News in Melb tonight, someone on the KRCD FB page saying that BR 3 months prior was saying something about 'it would be a good place to get rid of someone' I have no idea if this is in the actual report as I can't find anything yet.
