Australia Australia - Tegan Lane, 2 days old, Sydney, 14 Sept 1996 *K. Lane guilty*

Looking for employees of or patrons of the Town Hall Hotel today..

Caro Meldrum-Hanna
So this was the place they kept on meeting up, and also the same place he had his birthday drinks. Sounds to me like he was a regular. How is it that none of her friends remember this guy. Surely someone from her group of friends or his group of friends would have noticed them interacting in some fashion?

You'd think so wouldn't you. That makes me think it was when she was at the pub with Lisa. Keli did not just go to the Town Hall Hotel with groups of water polo friends. Lisa was her Uni friend. She can't remember anything and remembers no "Andrew".

When does water polo season start anyway? Isn't it a summer sport! Didn't she say she met "Andrew" about late September/October 1995 in Exposed? I think I have read mid year about June 1995. Who knows with Keli!

Urgh... That's why I am not on Twitter. A giant community of loud soapboxes.

I am wondering if there are any legal professionals and academics who believe the Lane conviction is appropriate, given the opposing voices are this loud at the moment!

Mark Tedeschi QC thinks its appropriate. :p

It is very hard to accept a murder conviction is appropriate in an entirely circumstantial case where there is no direct evidence of a body, no direct evidence of a murder, no witnesses, and no clear motive. It is meant to be better to let a guilty person go free rather than wrongly convict an innocent person.

I believe the Honourable Justice Whealy, the Honourable Justices of the Court of Appeal and the Honourable Justices Keane and Bell of the High Court made appropriate decisions based on the material before them. The jury did make findings of fact that they were entitled to make on the evidence that was presented to them as well. All that does not prevent this from being a miscarriage of justice.

Not all evidence was before the Court. The police investigation was not complete before the trial. They might have missed something. There are the other reasons BOHII are presenting to the NSW AG.

The problem for Keli is that at the foundation of our legal system is that there must be proof. The proof is more important than the truth in Court. You can have the best story in the world but it is worthless if you can't prove it. Keli could never prove her story. True, she had no obligation too but she looked so bad from the evidence from the police interviews. She said the police did not look hard enough for "Andrew". The Police had a hard task but they were proving a negative and can easily do that with incompetence and fail to see it.

I stand with those seeking a review. Sorry, I know most people here don't agree but I really think this is a miscarriage of justice.

BBM--that is a misrepresentation. I haven't read anywhere that Lisa had memory problems or said she couldn't remember. She said it was false that she knew Andrew.

It does seem he was a regular and he must have continued to go to that pub after he had taken custody of Tegan.

EXPOSED: The Case Of Keli Lane

There was a description of Andrews partner Mel. Who was ever so willing to take on this child.

It would be good to know what Mel looked like, as well.

Lisa was at the pub with Keli. Yes, she does not know Andrew. Logically, she never saw him either or can't remember. She was drinking wasn't she!!! May be she should have!! Who knows. I am not quoting. I am theorising.

Where does it say he continued to go to the pub after he took custody of Tegan. Keli said he saw him there before she had Tegan - wasn't that his 30th birthday drinks in July or August 1996? I would love to see some evidence after September 1996, that would be interesting.

It would be great to know what Mel looked like too?

"She says 'Andrew' always had a few friends around (she doesn't know their names and says she didn't socialise with them) and that she was always in a group of her friends. She says they kept their romantic interactions on the down-low and out of sight of their friends because both of them had partners at the time."

But what about the first night they met? They had to of been speaking/flirting for them to leave together that night. Also she told Caro they would meet at the Town Hall Hotel and walk back to his unit for sex. So no one saw them meet up each time either?

I'm not sure when the water polo season starts, but I do know that the Dawn Fraser pool, where they did training, was closed to the public during the winter months. From memory, the pool opened the weekend of daylight savings starting, and closed when daylight savings ended.Whether training still happened in winter, I have no idea..I would imagine it would be freezing! I used to live in the same street and took my kids to Elkington park all the time, the pool is next to the park.

Ohh whereabouts? There's nothing at 2:59 in any of the episodes?

Yes you are correct. I was thinking of the contact in Jan/Feb.

Episode 2 @ 58min 53sec

Caro: What would you ask Keli if you could?

Cory Hutchings: Was Tegan mine?

Took a screenshot of his face right after he answers... He might be joking but what an odd thing to say unless you were sleeping with Keli around the time of conception?

Very odd. He also looks a bit like "Andrew". Keli has a "type".

Wasn't this part of a preview for Episode 3 and then it never appeared? I was really curious as to why he would say that!

You have some local knowledge then. :)

I was just thinking the time of year that she met "Andrew" seems more likely that Keli was there with Uni friends rather than Water Polo friends as it is not water polo season but of course, she could be socially with water polo friends out of season. She has said that she went there with Lisa and there was evidence at the Inquest given by water polo friends and Lisa that they were there at various times. I still can't believe no one saw anything!

Far out. That's gotta be him doesnt it....

ETA: I'm not insinuating that Cory has/had Tegan just that this is who the drawing is of!

In just today's ExposedABC post, Caro said
she met 'Andrew' at the Town Hall Hotel in the second half of 1995, from around September onwards

That kind of matches up with the pool opening season, doesn't it? If not for the Dawn Fraser Pool, there's not much reason for her to be around Balmain.
