To assist with the hunt, the SES are clearing vegetation while police use rakes, spades and GPS trackers to ensure nothing is missed.
The fresh search, almost four years later, is scrutinising every inch of bushland in a 3-square-kilometre area just opposite the house on Benaroon Drive.

Many Kendall residents feel the mystery has poisoned the town's reputation, and hope this latest search will finally solve one of Australia's biggest missing persons cases.

Spatially mapping bushland opposite Beneroon house sounds like omitting misadventure to a defense.

3km2. Interesting.

It does sound like omitting misadventure, and yet 3km2 surely doesn’t definitively rule out misadventure? It feels like there must be another reason for such a small and specific search area..

Just watching ABC News 24 live cross to Benaroon Drive. It’s so heartbreaking to see the Police and SES volunteers scouring the bush. There is no way William could have gone up the hill through the scrub without ‘assistance’. Reporter said the search has ‘intensified’ and it’s too early for the toy to be connected to William. I may be pessimistic but this search reminds me of the search for Matthew Leveson’s and Quanne Diec’s remains. It’s so thorough. It puzzles me why MSM is still onsite unless, that is, there is an expectation that William’s remains will be found. Surely, they won’t be there for the duration of the search if that isn’t a strong possibility.

I’m not Australian but it seems to me William’s case is a massive news story over there. If remains are found it is going to be major breaking news so I’m not surprised in the slightest news media are hanging around just in case.

Sure, that could play a role but I don’t think we can discount the effects of trauma Brendan has experienced since William disappeared either. His loss must be devastating for all of his loved ones.
I agree, I am feeling sad right now that the small hope I had that he was still alive is diminishing. I cannot imagine how everyone connected to him is feeling. :(

Great article, Soso!

"It will also make the person police suspect abducted William very, very uncomfortable, Insp Jubelin told A Current Affair on Wednesday night.

He believes William’s abductor has already come under the investigation’s radar, and the new search, combined with the million dollar reward on offer and the intense media interest would mean “the person involved in this, I am certain” would be feeling “a great deal of pressure”.

“And I think the people around that person would be suspicious of their behaviour under pressure.” Insp Jubelin added.

“And we make no excuse for it. I want that person to feel under pressure.”

Toy found in search for William
Jones' behaviour comes to mind - very drunk on the day of the kidnapping and then crazy in the interview outside the police station. IMO

About 50 specialised officers marched into the scrub about 8am on Thursday, joined by SES and Rural Fire Service members.

Over the next four weeks, police will comb 16 sections of bushland, going sector by sector.

Residents in the quiet Kendall street, where a large police presence and media contingency has set up, are keeping an eye on activity from the verandahs of their homes while getting on with day-to-day life.
Many are reluctant to talk to media.

I wonder why they're reluctant to talk, soso. Who or what are they afraid of?

Maybe they just want to protect their privacy, something I understand and sympathise with. Never know how the media are going to spin you.

It could also be that the police have asked people not to say anything.

It kind of is? Kind of isn't, too. I find a lot of people who still barely know about it. Missing kids just don't register when they are more worried about house prices, salaries, taxes, stupid politicians etc. I think there's a large amount of people who have followed the case closely since day one, and a lot of people who are like "oh yeah I've heard of that kid. Still haven't found him yet huh?" and then the conversation moves onto Trump in North Korea, or something. Source: conversations at recent lunches, at school pickup, etc etc

ETA I don't find Brendan having a star wars toy that weird. Lots and lots of men in their 20s, 30s, 40s grew up with Star Wars and have never given it up.

ETA again: well, maybe you can argue that still being obsessed with star wars as an adult is weird, but it certainly isn't uncommon, and doesn't indicate anything particularly dysfunctional about a person in and of itself.

I agree many adults do indeed collect toys or hold onto childhood treasures.
Few carry them around in their pocket - imo

I have got the impression from day one that the locals value their privacy and are distrusting of the media. I can totally understand this. I am not surprised many residents have left the street.

Thank you for sharing your perspective about people’s knowledge of the case it is appreciated. I’m not surprised people are worried about the house prices and their salaries. The house prices are astronomical in places like Sydney and Melbourne people must be mortgaged to the hilt.

Who keeps track of toys anyrate?

Given the time between visits and the distance between the two homes.

When was the last time they visited FGM?

WT had been away from bios 2 years?

What I meant MR, was William’s Mother would be more inclined to know what toys they children brought up with them, but it were just the toys at Grandma’s House, it is less likely anyone knew the exact toys there, making it possible that the toy found in the bush could have been carried off by William.

William Tyrrell’s dad Brendan Collins breaks silence: ‘I’m so sorry’

“I know I’ve had a history of drugs problems but I’d never harm my boy.

“DOCS took him from me to keep him safe and now… he’s probably dead.”

He believes harm came to his son days in the lead-up to William’s kidnapping when he was three.

“My parole officer wants me to see a phycologist over William, I will when I get some money because I get flashbacks of him in that spiderman suit playing I the garden.”

BBM: Wonder what makes him think that????

P.S I was able to open the link thru the Daily Telegraphs twitter feed

Is BC insinuating that the FM harmed William in some way? How long has he been thinking that? Did his drug use cause him to take action?

Ok, please forgive me if the following questions have already been dealt with extensively in previous threads - but does anyone know where WT sister was when he went missing? I read somewhere they were playing together outside and she was 5 years old? Also, this has probably been covered - but, I wonder if there were any witnesses (apart from the family members at the house) who verified that they saw WT playing at the house that day? again, sorry if these questions have already been covered :)
