Nope, we weren't told where she walked, only that they met back on Benaroon.............I got the impression she hadn't been doing the walk with PS for a little while
I read somewhere PS said his wife had given up the walks by the time of Williams disappearance, he went on his own that day. I'm looking for the link to support this...

edited to add link where PS says by Sep 2014 his wife wasn't up to daily walks with him.
"Mr Savage agreed to that and to the fact that by September 2014 his wife Heather, who has since died, was not up to accompanying him on his daily walk as she had once done."

I wonder if she really was at bingo that morning? If she was growing so ill that she didn't walk any more. Maybe she didn't drive either. That may be what closed court was about. 'Some evidence' as Jubes has stated - though not necessarily about that, of course. And confusion in Mr Savage's mind - as his own lawyer stated about his testimony in general.

it says in this article PS didn't let his brother know until after 4pm that day he wouldn't be picking him Up from Casino hospital.

NoCookies | The Australian

On Tuesday, Mr Savage said he spoke to his brother in the Casino hospital on the morning of William’s disappearance to make arrangements to pick him up when he was discharged that day. Casino is about four hours’ drive away. He had been planning to help his brother recuperate.

“And that was because he didn’t have anyone else to pick him up and take him home?” said counsel assisting the coroner, Gerard Craddock.

“That’s right, yes,” Mr Savage replied.

Yesterday, he said he failed to follow through on that plan because William’s disappearance had consumed his attention. He didn’t speak to his brother to let him know until after 4pm.
sorry to reply to myself but IMO this may be more accurate regarding pick up of PS brother in hospital, as it was said at inquest as per Lia Harris tweets.

Mr Savage is asked about his pannned trip to Casino to pick up his brother. He told the court he thought he called him to let him know he wouldn’t be coming because of the missing boy, but “I’ve been told I didn’t”.

It's crossed my mind too whether HS was at bingo, hopefully it was checked out by police before her passing.

Yesterday, he said he failed to follow through on that plan because William’s disappearance had consumed his attention. He didn’t speak to his brother to let him know until after 4pm.

So, this sounds as though Mr Savage's wife may not have been around for most of the day.

Leaving at 10:37am and perhaps not returning until after 4pm, even though she knew her brother was coming and had been busy cooking for him.
"Paul it is after 4pm. What about your brother? Did he get someone else to help him, didn't need you after all?"
"Oh blow, I forgot about that, I will ring him right now".

Or did someone else remind Mr Savage after 4pm - and Heather did not remind him. Perhaps his brother called because he had been waiting?

Mr Savage said he waved Heather goodbye around 10.37am and “I walked straight back inside after my wife pulled out.
“I was having a cup of tea and a bit of toast and getting ready to go and see [my brother].”

I think the fact that PS didn't call his brother until after 4pm reflects that he was engaged in searching all day (apart from a rest period of uncertain length when he returned from the second walk). He probably didn't see much of his wife that afternoon, but there's no indication what time she came home.

I wonder how long a line search behind the houses on his side of the road takes?

I would have thought that when/if Heather arrived home earlier than after 4pm, she might have noticed his vehicle and packed bag still there and called the brother or the hospital herself. You know, find out if other arrangements for his brother had been made - if all was okay. That his brother hadn't been left in the lurch.

Did PS’ brother pass? If not, it sounds like he would make a good witness when the inquest returns.

That map of the street and surrounds with all the names on it . . . PS's name is all over it. (Though I'm not sure whether it all happened on the first day.) That video of him walking up Benaroon, about which I commented on his walking style, and someone kindly proved to me that he didn't have a wooden leg (I now think he was weary), that was in the direction of another line search north of FGM's place between Benaroon and Ellendale.

I think it's likely he didn't see/scarcely saw his wife until late afternoon because he was out searching. She had guests; while the brother-in-law participated in some searching, there was also the brother-in-law's wife (Regina?). Edit: My point is that I suggest she didn't know whether he'd called the brother to make different arrangements so she wouldn't have intervened.

Some interesting reading ... if you are interest in historical Police Reporting???

This is the 1968 Police Report ...,

The entry about the Murder of Helen Harrison is noted on Page 10...

https://media.opengov.nsw.gov.au/pa...7/a7/1a/35/e8/1e/bb/a4/d4/c9/obj/document.pdf

Noticed in this a report about Simon Brooke - missing 3 year old boy from 1968 - never been
solved. It happened around the same time as Helen Harrison. They liked Percy for it but he always claimed it wasn’t him.
It gave me a bit of a chill for sure. What if...?

Distractible?

If he was uncaring he could have said, get a taxi and call meals on wheels. Not made the undertaking to pick him up in the first place.

Maybe so..but who leaves someone in hospital when you are meant to be picking them up and looking after them as they have no one else..that type of situation imo you just dont forget

I wonder who found the piece of red material. And why the finding of it was kept secret.

A tuft of red material snagged in a bush was found near the scene of William Tyrrell's disappearance, it has been revealed.
The piece of material was found about 200 metres from his foster grandmother's house at Kendall near Port Macquarie in 2014, around the same time he disappeared.
The evidence was found in 2014, but kept secret until Friday when the Coronor's Court released a trio of statements.

SIX Maps

I think this is roughly PS's walk ( the red dotted line I have made ) earlier that morning where he stopped to talk to Lyn the caravan lady for approx 30mins. ( he apparently spoke to this women on his walks regularily?)

From memory I think the caravan was located in the bottom rt hand corner ( you can actually see a white something in the bushes??)........see second pic

I am hopeless with maps ..........sorry

I've had to resize the pics to up load here :(

The caravan is located bottom left, confirmed with 2 other people that attended inquest and here is a map of the walk PS took that morning.

I'd also like to add that HS was at Bingo that day and she also made a statement to police...was all spoken about at the inquest

Who was it that confirmed, at the inquest, that Heather was at bingo?

And was it Mr Craddock or a police officer who pointed out your said location of the caravan?
That seems to conflict with drsleuth's notes and/or recall.

Yes. I never doubted she was at bingo, she didnt die for quite a while after William went missing, driving to Bingo would require a lot less effort than an early morning walk.

Maybe so ... but I would still like to know who confirmed that. It cannot be known as a sure thing unless there is official confirmation. Heather making a statement is something we have known for quite a while. I have yet to read that the content of that statement has been revealed. Or who else saw her at Bingo, or even saw her driving there.
