Bill Cosby Wants Another Chance to Throw Out Sexual-Assault Case

May 14 2016, 12:09 am ET

Bill Cosby's lawyers have asked the state Supreme Court for another chance to have his criminal sexual-assault case thrown out.

The defense argued that the current district attorney cannot go back on the word of a predecessor who has said he promised Cosby wouldn't be charged in the case. The defense said Cosby relied on that pledge when he testified in a related lawsuit about his contact with the accuser and other women who have accused him of drugging and molesting them.

...He has a May 24 preliminary hearing scheduled unless the Supreme Court grants his appeal.

BBM - Is that even something they can legally promise??

Wow, it's interesting to read this 2005 Websleuths thread: http://www.websleuths.com/forums/sh...r-victims-are-mistreated&highlight=bill+cosby

I wasn't even aware of Andrea Constand's case back then! Cosby's PR machine kept things under control. The media was in Cosby's pocket. But fast-forward to 2014, and times had changed! The internet was now portable. Social media had greatly expanded. And Hannibal's video went wildly viral. I'd wager that Cosby thought this mess would blow over in a month or two. Well, fat chance. Welcome to the new world, Bill.

Cosby will be 79 in July. Wonder if he's going to live long enough to see the trial(s) through. He's got the money for appeals and more appeals.

CC needs a divorce. She could get $$$. When the courts are finished, CC will only be left with BC.

Camille Cosby’s February deposition in a defamation case brought by several women who have previously accused Bill Cosby of sexual assault was combative.
A transcript of the deposition, made public today, shows that, from the start, Camille Cosby refused to answer a number of questions she deemed personal and off-limits.

In Massachusetts, Camille Cosbytestified that she had no knowledge that her husband allegedly gave women drugs and had sex with them, according to a transcript of her deposition released Friday.

But Camille Cosby gave few answers in the six-hour-long deposition, often invoking spousal privilege and at times refusing to answer questions altogether, according to a transcript released Friday.
"I'm done," Camille Cosby said at one point in reply to a question. At another time, she left the room where the Feb. 22 deposition was taking place.

Camille Cosby was read sections of her husband's 2005 deposition where he said he "had sex and we had dinners and sex and rendezvous" with Beth Farrier in the 1970s.
However, when asked repeatedly if she thought her husband was being deceitful, or whether or not she had an opinion on whether Bill Cosby deceived her, Camille Cosby invoked marital privilege or said she had no opinion.
When asked about honesty and what it means, Camille Cosby answered: "I'm not going to expound on this." When she was told she had to, she answered: "I do not have to. I'm done."

Asked about her husband's admitted affair with model Beth Ferrier, Cosby's wife of five decades repeated her fallback refrain during her tense grilling last February.
“I have no opinion,” she said.

“You have no opinion one way or another…as to whether or not having an extramarital affair is a breach of your marriage vows?” Cammarata asked.

“I do not have an opinion,” Camille said.
She refused to classify the affair or the $100,000 that Cosby secretly spent supporting Thompson's daughter, Autumn Jackson, between 1974 and 1994 as “deceitful conduct.”
“I do not have an opinion,” she said over and over.

The disgraced TV star is spending millions in a frenzied bid not just to stay out of prison but to salvage what is left of his reputation. Legal experts say he has nothing to lose.
"This thing's going to be tied up in litigation anyway, so you might as well look like you're the aggrieved party," said Professor Laurie Levenson of Loyola Law School in Los Angeles. "The best defense is a good offense."

Bill Cosby's Wife, Camille Cosby, Defends Comedian in Unsealed Deposition

by Tom Winter, Andrew Blankstein, Elisha Fieldstadt and The Associated Press

Bill Cosby's wife underwent questioning that was at times contentious during a deposition in February involving a defamation case involving her husband.

But Camille Cosby gave few answers in the six-hour-long deposition, often invoking spousal privilege and at times refusing to answer questions altogether, according to a transcript released Friday.

As noted in this Huffington Post piece, the now-elected DA of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, promised to charge Mr. Cosby. Whether the case ever goes to trial is another matter. (I have no opinion on his innocence or guilt. The tales told are a bit too bizarre for me to wrap my mind around.) I do think the now DA, Kevin Steele, used this case to help him win a hotly contested election for DA.

From above link:

"Bill Cosby admitted to engaging in sexual encounters with multiple teenagers and having an agency send him models on a weekly basis in depositions given in 2005 and 2006 during Andrea Constand's lawsuit against the disgraced comedian."

"He admitted in those depositions that he gave quaaludes to 19-year-old Therese Serignese in Las Vegas in 1976 and that he had another teenager, who he met in 2000, masturbate him with lotion."

"That second teenager was one of the 'five to six models' Cosby said an agency sent to his studio each week. Cosby, 78, said in his deposition that he would give the young women 'a very, very good meal.'

"Cosby, 78, said in his deposition that he would give the young women 'a very, very good meal.'"

What a gentleman.

Note: He did Not state or imply that he have her Quaaludes without their knowledge or consent. Frankly anyone with cursory knowledge of Quaaludes knows they aren't easily crushed up-- I've read several articles written in the 70's that emphasize this fact. (Pretty sure there's a Rolling Stone article from 1973 that mentions this in discussing the fact that it was one of the most widely used drugs in the disco days)

I do find it curious that Cosby had Quaaludes in the aughts as they haven't been manufactured or available in the States for some time.

Otherwise, everything else mentioned in the article is perfectly legal.

Is he a hypocrite? Without a doubt.

Not defending him, simply sharing some knowledge and perspective.

The harsh reality is that any lady here who has never met Mr Cosby could come forward with a allegation and find themselves featured on CNN tomorrow presented as completely credible. This statement is in no way questioning the victim's honesty, it's only an indictment of a "news" media that presents unverified information as fact far too often-- whether about Iraq in 2002 or Prince in 2016, the failure of the media to do anything that resembles journalism is only getting worse. Scary!

Bill Cosby Back in Court for Evidence Hearing in Sex Assault Case

by Tom Winter and Tracy Connor

Legendary comedian Bill Cosby arrived at a Pennsylvania courthouse Tuesday morning for a preliminary hearing in the sexual assault case against him.

The purpose of the hearing is to determine if there is enough evidence for the case to proceed to trial. Cosby could waive the hearing and be assigned a trial date, or the hearing could go forward with prosecutors laying out some of the case they have built.

Duquesne University Law School professor Wes Oliver told NBC News that Cosby's accuser, Andrea Constand, is not required to testify at the the hearing...

The sexual assault case against legendary comedian Bill Cosby will go to trial, a judge decided Tuesday, after finding enough evidence in a preliminary hearing to proceed.

Cosby accuser says she was dizzy, felt 'like jelly'

By MARYCLAIRE DALE and MICHAEL R. SISAK, AP
50 minutes ago

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (AP) — The accuser in the sexual assault case against Bill Cosby told authorities the comedian violated her after giving her three blue pills that made her dizzy, blurry-eyed and sick to her stomach, her legs "like jelly," according to a police report read in court Tuesday.

"I told him, 'I can't even talk, Mr. Cosby.' I started to panic," Andrea Constand, a former Temple University athletic department employee, told police in 2005.

The statement was introduced at a preliminary hearing held to determine whether prosecutors have enough evidence to put the 78-year-old TV star on trial on sexual assault charges that could bring 10 years in prison.

In his own statement to police, also read in court, Cosby portrayed it as consensual sexual activity, saying Constand never said "no" as he put his hand down her pants...

Sickening indeed..........qualudes.......714's, or rorers where 'round in 1976.

Seems to me mr. Cosby likes to be the only animated partner in a trist. Egads.....what joy. I can't wrap my head around that fact.

I suppose he did find a few willing lotion handlers, though. Barf.

I'm glad he gave the girls a nice meal for all their trouble. He must have thought he did them a favor. Unbelievable .

From Bettie's articel above........she said she couldn't talk.....then she passed out and couldn't say no......I'm guessing on the passing out part.....probably Valium. I think they were/are blue. Still sick here.
