:dunno: guess not....

Yes, the judge delayed the jury selection a bit due to various pretrial motions. The trial is scheduled to start next Monday.

Re above article - they only seated one jury yesterday? Is that what it says? At least that's the way I read that article! :)

So - jury selection continues today?

Correct. I haven't seen an estimate on how long it will take to seat a jury but I'd guess it will take at least a few days.

Bill Cosby judge delivers 2 big victories to defense
Associated Press Published 9:10 a.m. ET April 3, 2018

Norristown, Pa. – The judge in Bill Cosby’s sexual assault retrial gave his legal defense a huge boost Tuesday, ruling his lawyers can call a witness who says the accuser talked about framing a celebrity before she went to police in 2005 with allegations about the comedian.

Judge Steven O’Neill also helped the defense case by ruling that jurors can hear how much Cosby paid accuser Andrea Constand in a 2006 civil settlement.

O’Neill ruled that Marguerite Jackson can take the witness stand after he blocked her from testifying at the first trial – which ended in a hung jury – saying her testimony would be hearsay...

Can State still bring in that BC admitted to giving the ladies drugs for sex? That is a big one. Thank you.

Cosby lawyers claim DA trying to keep black women, white men off jury

Prosecutors said the accusation of racial bias in jury selection is "ludicrous."

On Tuesday, Bill Cosby's defense team accused prosecutors of trying to keep older white men off the jury for his sexual assault retrial. On Wednesday, they switched gears and claimed the district attorney was purposely striking black women from the panel.

The accusation led to a tense argument in the Pennsylvania courtroom before the judge adjourned to discuss the matter, but he indicated he was unlikely to side with Cosby's lawyers.

I have a feeling that they had better get a lot of alternate jurors in this case. Something is bound to happen to cause one or more of them to be excused from the case.

Bill Cosby’s retrial jury mirrors first on gender, race

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (AP) — After a showdown over race, the jury picked to decide Bill Cosby’s fate in the first big trial of the #MeToo era ended up mirroring the gender and racial makeup of the group that deadlocked last year: seven men and five women — 10 white, two black.

Race dominated Wednesday’s jury selection.

Cosby’s lawyers alleged a member of the prosecution team made a disparaging remark after prosecutors rejected one of the few black women considered for the case. The defense, which argued nixing her was illegal, never revealed the remark they claim was said and eventually agreed to pick more jurors.

District Attorney Kevin Steele rejected the allegations, saying that prosecutors had no problem seating the two other black people who had appeared for individual questioning. He contended that Cosby’s lawyers were playing to the media...

Oh geez - already??!!! I'm guessing 6 alternates won't be enough. Or I should 5 now....

One way to get out of jury duty. Too bad there was not a penalty for the juror if he lied when questioned.

Cosby sexual assault retrial getting underway in #MeToo era

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (AP) — With opening statements in Bill Cosby’s sexual assault retrial set for Monday, prosecutors have lined up a parade of accusers to make the case that the man revered as “America’s Dad” lived a double life as one of Hollywood’s biggest predators.

Cosby’s retrial likely won’t be anything like his first one. He’s fighting back with a new, high-profile lawyer and an aggressive strategy: attacking Andrea Constand as a greedy liar and casting the other women testifying as bandwagon accusers looking for a share of the spotlight.

“You’ve seen previews and coming attractions, but things have changed,” said professor Laurie Levenson of Loyola Law School in Los Angeles...

Cosby paid Andrea Constand $3.4 million to settle civil suit in 2006
Bill Cosby's criminal trial on charges of sexual assault began Monday as the first big celebrity trial of the #MeToo era.

NORRISTOWN, Pa. — Bill Cosby's sexual assault retrial began Monday with prosecutors revealing that Cosby paid his accuser, Andrea Constand, nearly $3.4 million in a 2006 civil settlement. The settlement amount, which was confidential, had not previously been publicly disclosed by either side in the case.

District Attorney Kevin Steele highlighted the amount during his opening statement in the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas in Norristown. Judge Steven O'Neill had ruled that the jury would be told the amount at the retrial...

$3.4 million is a lot of money to pay someone if you're not guilty...
