Making no statement on this case, I remember the days when the biggest weapons of LE were their brains and their mouths, insofar as they were able to deescalate situations rather than camping out at a point of no return with sidearms drawn. I don't want to sound like I have nostalgia for the "good ol' days," but there were times when smart LE were celebrated. Now, a high IQ can be used as a reason to keep someone out of LE, and that just seems sad to me (not a statement on this case, but just the same):
