Rogers now back in the witness box, describing the method used to find evidence in the two burn areas on the farm.
Adam Carter

Feb 18 2016 11:54 AM
Crown Craig Fraser now asking about material found in the larger of the two burn sites.
Adam Carter

Feb 18 2016 11:54 AM
The seatbelt buckles were recovered from that burn site.
Adam Carter

Feb 18 2016 11:55 AM
There were three of them.

The forensic anthropology students worked in wind & cold, but had to take frequent breaks because of still-strong smell of gas #TimBosma

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 5s5 seconds ago
And we're back. Rogers continues testimony about grid search of 'burn site' at farm. (This is where seatbelt buckles were recovered) #Bosma

Crown asks Dr. Rogers about seat belts found at burn sites #Bosma

Crown asks Dr. Rogers about seat belts found at burn sites #Bosma

Well if RP starts cross examining this witness about this decision in light of the seriousness of this case, you called it first.
I predict he'll also mention how "out in the open" those burn sites were.

MOO

Or how anyone could have access and there was no efforts made to conceal the entire farm.

Shannon Martin ‏@ShannonMartinTV 48s49 seconds ago Hamilton, Ontario
Dr. Rogers and her students made a grid system to mark the burn sites at Millard's farm #Bosma

Shannon Martin ‏@ShannonMartinTV 36s36 seconds ago Hamilton, Ontario
Dr. Rogers describes materials found in Grid G. In addition to seat belt, there were grommets, springs, burned wood (large piece)...

Shannon Martin ‏@ShannonMartinTV 23s23 seconds ago Hamilton, Ontario
...Other metal objects, a bottle partially metal, glass, a few coins. #Bosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 19s19 seconds ago
Also found grommets, metal springs, plastic bottle, glass, coins, wood...

So all three seat belt buckles were found in the larger of the two burn sites. So what was burnt in the other? Clothing?

MOO

Feb 18 2016 11:58 AM
There was a "high concentration of material" found in one part of the grid on that burn site. In addition to the seatbelt, there were grommets, burned wood, springs, a plastic bottle and glass. Some coins, too.

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 38s38 seconds ago
In addition to buckles, they also found things like grommets, a spring, glass, burned wood, a partially melted plastic bottle, coins. #Bosma

Shannon Martin ‏@ShannonMartinTV 21s21 seconds ago Hamilton, Ontario
We're looking at more fragments of bone, the Distal Humerus Bone. Dr. Rogers says this fragment was 'damaged.' #Bosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 18s18 seconds ago
Now a photo of damaged distal humerus bone, which comes from the elbow. She uses this to determine gender.

Feb 18 2016 11:59 AM
Now we're seeing some of the fragments -- this time of the distal humerus bone. That's the bone she uses for sex assessment. The damage to the bone meant she didn't have as many information traits as usual. Two were available this time.
Adam Carter

Feb 18 2016 12:00 PM
She said she could be 75% accurate in this case. "I assessed this as male."
Adam Carter

***It appears they have shifted focus back to the remains found in the incinerator. These were not from the burn site.

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 47s48 seconds ago
She assessed this as male, with 75 per cent accuracy. #Bosma

Adam Carter ‏@AdamCarterCBC 28s29 seconds ago
Rogers says she could be 75% sure the recovered distal humerus bone was male. #HamOnt #TimBosma #Bosma

THis is different than the number we heard earlier - 92% accuracy. Maybe because of the burn damage?

Feb 18 2016 12:01 PM
No looking at a photo of a radial head, with "no evidence of arthritis." This helps in giving an age estimate.
Adam Carter

Feb 18 2016 12:02 PM
"When someone starts to age, after the age of 35 to 40, the joints start to wear," Rogers says. Bosma was 32.
Adam Carter

Feb 18 2016 12:03 PM
"I could estimate just roughly that this individual was less than 40 years of age," Rogers says.
Adam Carter

So all three seat belt buckles were found in the larger of the two burn sites. So what was burnt in the other? Clothing?

MOO

Have they said if one burn mark looked older than the other? I assumed the other was from LB. But perhaps they marks wouldn't have stayed around that long.

No way that could have been from LB. THey *allegedly* murdered her almost a year before.

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 2m2 minutes ago
Now seeing radial head with no evidence of arthritis. Helps with determining age.

Shannon Martin ‏@ShannonMartinTV 39s39 seconds ago Hamilton, Ontario
Next photo: Radial Head (outside of the forearm). "There's nothing on joint surface" to indicate aging. Rogers estimates man less than 40 yr

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 12s12 seconds ago
Tim #Bosma was 32 when he disappeared.

Feb 18 2016 12:03 PM
Court now seeing a diagram of the recovered bones.
Adam Carter

Feb 18 2016 12:04 PM
58 pieces of bones could actually be picked up. "Others I could only tell it was pieces of a long bone, or something less specific."
Adam Carter

Feb 18 2016 12:04 PM
One tooth was also located.
Adam Carter

Feb 18 2016 12:05 PM
Lots of hand bones were found, but it was hard for her to say which side of the body they came from.
Adam Carter

Shannon Martin ‏@ShannonMartinTV 32s32 seconds ago Hamilton, Ontario
Dr. Rogers shows a diagram, tells court she found fragments from the entire body #Bosma

Shannon Martin ‏@ShannonMartinTV 3s3 seconds ago Hamilton, Ontario
Rogers: "58 pieces of bones could actually be picked up" #Bosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 16s16 seconds ago
She recovered 58 pieces of bone fragment from throughout body: orbital bone, a tooth, hands, arms, legs, feet...

I find it curious they could still detect the odor of an accelerant. I'm guessing the dried corn stubble around the area absorbed it?

Lisa Hepfner ‏@HefCHCHNews 51s51 seconds ago
Rogers picked up 58 bone fragments in the Eliminator. We are looking at a human skeleton map to see where they came from. #Bosma

Shannon Martin ‏@ShannonMartinTV 26s26 seconds ago Hamilton, Ontario
Fragments from thigh bone, lower legs, tooth. Rogers says there were recognizable features from entire body #Bosma

Shannon Martin ‏@ShannonMartinTV 47s47 seconds ago Hamilton, Ontario
Rogers says there should have been an entire body in the incinerator because "bone does not disappear."

Shannon Martin ‏@ShannonMartinTV 15s15 seconds ago Hamilton, Ontario
Rogers says of the incinerator, "It was clear it had been cleaned out."

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 1m1 minute ago
"There's a lot of remains that are not there. There should have been a complete body there & there wasn't. So it had obviously been cleaned."

Feb 18 2016 12:06 PM
"There are a lot of remains that are not there," Rogers says, reminding the jury that bones don't "just disappear." "There should have been a complete body there basically, but there wasn't. This is what was left. So obviously, it had been cleaned out at some point."
Adam Carter

***And there you go. How dare they sit there with his widow and parents in that room knowing where the rest of Tim is.
