ATLANTA — After a jury returned a verdict in her murder trial, Hannah Payne has learned her fate Friday morning.
After hearing arguments and witness statements, the Clayton County judge sentenced Payne to serve life in prison with the possibility of parole for the charge of malice murder. She will also serve eight years consecutively for the count of false imprisonment and another five for possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Former YouTube vlogging star Ruby Franke appeared in a Washington County, Utah, state court on Monday where she pleaded guilty to four counts of second-degree felony child abuse, authorities confirmed to Law&Crime. She is currently scheduled to appear in court again in February 2024 for her sentencing hearing.

Under state law, a second-degree felony child abuse charge carries a maximum sentence of up to 15 years in prison and a $19,000 fine.

The plea agreement states that Franke will serve a prison term and that her sentences for each of the four felony convictions will be served consecutively, meaning one after the other. She is also required to testify against her co-defendant in the case, Jodi Hildebrandt.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – A Louisville jury reached a verdict in the 2016 triple murder case against Brice Rhodes less than five hours after they began deliberations Monday.

The jury found Rhodes guilty on all six charges against him — three counts of murder for the deaths of Christopher Jones, Maurice Gordon and Larry Ordway, one count of tampering with physical evidence, and two counts of abuse of a corpse for Gordon and Ordway.

He is facing a possible sentence of life in prison. The sentencing phase will begin Tuesday.


The verdict came down just before 9:30 p.m., several hours after the jury began deliberations in the case.

The prosecution rested their case Friday and the defense did not call any witnesses on Monday with Rhodes deciding not to testify.

AKRON, Ohio (Court TV) — Ohio mother Erica Stefanko was convicted on murder charges for the second time after an appeals court overturned her murder conviction in the death of Ashley Biggs.

The jury deliberated for more than eight hours over two days before finding Stefanko guilty of both charges she was facing. The judge scheduled sentencing for Thursday, Feb. 1, 2024. Under Ohio law, Stefanko will be charged on just one offense of the prosecution’s choosing. The possible sentences for aggravated murder include 20 years to life, 25 years to life, 30 years to life, or life without the possibility of parole.
