CA CA - 4 (previously 6) individuals missing near Idyllwild, summer 2020

She would at least have a trust attorney and an accountant who is familiar with trusts. But even if we could figure out who they are (my guess would be in La Jolla) I doubt they would give out any information.
RE: Lydia "Dia" Abrams
Yes, we can only figure out so much. You've found quite a bit of info. The thing is even if we think someone did something to her for some reason, we're limited not knowing more about her family, social circle, and personal relationships and how they tie into her life and maybe finances. Who would wish to do her harm? We've been concentrating on the possible money connection, but it might blind us to other motives or reasons she's missing. I guess there's a slim possibility she got hurt or sick, but LE had started searching fairly quickly. Where is Dia?

Just my own thoughts.

The cases aren't at all related but the mention of Black Mountain Truck Trail immediately made me think of John Sturkie, a man from Oceanside who ended up getting his truck stuck up there. They recovered his remains months later.

Found Deceased - CA - John Sturkie, 55, planned to go to the beach, Oceanside, San Diego County, 4 Jan 2019

I didn't realize Melissa had intended to go hiking. I also like to hike by myself but I can't imagine going up that way without a phone or GPS device. She really is fearless. Good connection with the Sturkie case. I wonder how extensively they've searched the trail for her.

Here's a link to the Black Mountain Truck Trail Hike on All Trails.

One of the reviews is striking. The author states that he should not have to worry about hikers on the OHV trail as there is another trail on Black Mountain for them to hike. Just a thought but I wonder if she may have been hit by a driver and they did not report it.

RE: Melissa Lane

Here's some of what bothers me about the limited details we have on Melissa disappearing. Sure, maybe she got sick or fell, but I get the feeling she was upset at the time she left her boyfriend's or got out of the relative's car.

41-year-old Melissa Lane was reported missing on June 15th around 9:20 a.m. heading to Idyllwild from Pine Cove. Her phone and her belongings were left behind at her boyfriend's house, according to her sister on a Facebook post.
She left her boyfriend's house without taking her phone or her belongings! Was she upset or in a hurry to get away?
She has been missing since about June 15 and is believed to have gone hiking – something she loved to do alone.

Lamont described her daughter, who lived in Pine Cove, as a loner who loved to hike.
Okay, her Mother says she loves to hike alone. Really? With no phone or belongings or a backpack?
The mother said Lane exited a relative’s vehicle near the trailhead to Black Mountain Truck Trail, eight miles north of Idyllwild and she was never seen again.
Melissa exited a relative's vehicle. So, she was getting a ride from some relative. She just got out the the car without her phone, etc., in that area. Did she get out of the relatives car upset? How was she going to get back?
I agree re: Lydia and Melissa though IMO they don't seem to be connected.
What's your thoughts? I don't think there's a connection to these two women being missing either, but I think they are possible victims of foul play.

It's so hard to even speculate with Melissa. She's the one we know the least about.

Melissa Lane, as I understand it, left her boyfriend's without her phone or belongings, gets in a relative's car and exits that car on that Black Mountain Truck Trail. What time of day? What does she do when it gets dark? How was she going to go hiking alone with no provisions, and then get back to wherever she lives??? Was she planning on hitch-hiking back? She was fearless, her mother said, which makes me think she took chances. I'm worried about this woman being picked up by someone and even possibly being held captive.

These are just my own thoughts and opinions.

The fiancee seems nice and appropriately concerned. And what would he gain if she's gone? But is the very quiet family afraid that he'll end up with her money? I don't know.....

Money, something to do with her money? It seems so, but fiancé didn't seal the deal with the marriage yet. BBM

So while thinking about trusts it occurred to me that Dia could have amended her trust, or had a new one written, to include her fiance prior to the upcoming marriage. That amended or new trust could have been effective at the time of her disappearance. If so, we don't know if anyone might have been taken out of the trust. No real info, just more speculation regarding a financial motive for a disappearance.

I agree that we have so little information because the family and friends are not talking. And law enforcement has released hardly anything.

Yes, I do think this is plausible.

Re: Lydia "Dia" Abrams

Going back to that one parcel selling for such a low price. I doubt if what it sold for would make any kind of dent in the taxes or financial situation; however, if she was considering bankruptcy and wanted to move it into someone else's name for now...maybe that's an angle. ???

This is some of MOO. I find it very confusing. I don't know what to make of those, what looked like, back taxes still owed. With all the properties Dia owned and her possible debt, whether she really was still a millionaire is questionable, in MOO, especially once Covid hit her businesses.

I hope she and her fiancé were both planning on signing pre-nups. Her fiancé I believe may have owned or still owns a business, as well. Best to sign a pre-nup, IMO. From what I glimpsed of the property tax info you found, things are still pending from her deceased husband's estate... and they had children. These kinds of things are subject to being contested by family. Fiancé and Dia weren't legally married yet, so whatever changes made probably wouldn't hold up legally if contested.

All MOO. I wish some of her family, friends, or ranch staff would make media statements about their personal take on her disappearance.

Someone wanted to know about a Diana on one of Día's business sites. The person is this article seems to know when Dia was last seen.
https://idyllwildtowncrier.com/2020/06/10/local-woman-dia-abrams-is-missing/
"According to the Facebook post by Diana Souza, “Dia Abrams, 65, is missing from her ranch off Apple Canyon Road in Mountain Center. She has blonde hair and stands around 5’4” tall. She was last seen Saturday, June 6th around 2 p.m., wearing blue jeans, a yellow shirt and a black multi-colored windbreaker. She was heading to the Garner Valley area, however her vehicle, handbag, keys and cell phone were still at her home.”

I think this is likely the same Diana here:
Bonita Vista Ranch Bed and Breakfast (3 rooms) - Bed and breakfasts for Rent in Mountain Center, California, United States

And the Diana whose name (1st name only) is on the voicemail message for the Bonita Vista Ranch Estate wedding venue.

So we still have family saying Dia went missing at ~2:00 pm.
And the fiance saying he texted with Dia at around 4 (PM), but then he found her phone plugged in to the wall inside her bedroom that evening.

What business sites does Dia have?

Both times could still be correct, if she left then returned to the house, then left again.

I wonder if they've checked all the places where somebody could fall into a hidden spot, like in the barns and so forth. Wells? Feed bins? Stuck in the attic or basement?

There are 4 wells on the property so I hope so. The fiance said they did an extensive (? exact word) search.
I agree that Dia could have returned to the ranch and exchanged text messages with her fiance after having been out. It sounds like the family is aware that Dia had planned to do something in the Garner Valley area ~2:00. And they concluded that she went missing at that point. It doesn't sound like they spoke with Dia's fiance before speaking with the Valley News. And nothing else has been said publicly to correct, as needed, the Valley News report.
And law enforcement did not put a time when Dia was "last seen in the 58000 block of Bonita Vista" on their flier. Nor has there been any follow up communication from them.

Lydia being hurt or trapped somewhere on those many acres would make sense. She loved her animals they say. I imagine any emergency, even a contrived one, would make her race to her animals.

It's a shame, but I don't think the searches have been ongoing.
Read this statement. It almost sounds like the searching is over.
“As of now, the only update we have is that an extensive search was conducted in the area over a three-day period without locating Dia Abrams,” Deanna Pecoraro, a correctional sergeant with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Friday, June 12, said. “She is still in the system as a missing person. We do ask if anyone has any information or knows her whereabouts to please contact their local law enforcement.”

"Local residents participate in a search party to look for Lydia “Dia” Abrams Monday, June 8. Anza Valley Outlook"

I would think we'd hear more about her friends and family putting together weekend searches, but no, not that I've heard, not since June 8th. People seem concerned in the beginning weeks. What I want to know is where's more friends and family giving media interviews wanting to find Dia.

Fiancé said LE searched a lot. He doesn't know if he'll ever have those (wedding) dates with her, but I wonder if he or anyone has hired a private investigator. I mean this is a real mystery! Where is she? MOO, she didn't just go for a stroll and not come back.

There was a comment that said LE searched extensively on foot, horses, and with hounds. Keep searching, I say.

Fiance's interview really struck me as odd. IMO it sounds like he already gave up. If my partner went missing, finding them would be my only purpose and I'd pursue it with dogged determination.

I re-read this article from FoxNews LA and this stuck out to me:

"Both have now been found, but when we asked the Riverside Sheriffs' deputies where and how they were found we got no answers.

Private Investigator Luis Balaños is scratching his head over how law enforcement is handling this. He says, "they’re privy to more information than we are but from the outside, you would think it would help calm the community because I know for a fact people are concerned.”

We know where Jade was found but we have not heard anything about how Venessa was found. o_O

Hello to everyone on the thread,
I'm new here and just joined the website. I’m a friend of Dia through Facebook and have had several interactions with her over the last two years. She was the sweetest, kindest lady and although we had not met in person, I considered her a friend and always thought of her as a bright, caring lady and looked up to her. I had no idea she had been missing until about two weeks ago she popped into my head and I had a strong feeling I needed to check in on her. Me being busy with summer and responsibilities, I got distracted and never followed through with reaching out to her. I happened to be reading a random Reddit post on the Missing411 group 5 days ago, and her missing poster was at the top of the headline!! I felt so awful that I hadn’t reached out to her. I’ve learned some troubling details regarding her family relationships and can’t believe the lack of inaction on her children’s part in speaking out about their mother’s disappearance. Just heartbreaking.

Regarding her alleged fiancé, this is a news story from a few years ago about someone with the same name: Local man sentenced in sexual-contact case

Hi! Welcome! Glad to have some insight from a friend. We've discussed the previous case against her fiance a bit. It all seems a bit "off" to say the least.
