CA - Child *advertiser censored* charges against John Mark Karr dismissed

Thanks for the latest news i.b. nora. Now we can probably look forward to an interesting trial. Karr has great representation, to fight the charges, but we would have to think public opinion is heavily weighted against him, such that they would allow emotion to convict him of being a very sick person, but that isn't the charge against him. I don't know if a jury will be able to differentiate when it comes to their verdict. Here's a guy that doesn't have a prior, with a question as to LE's right to enter his home and seize his computer, and him claiming that Wendy Hutchens set him up. Based on those alone, with his legal team, it is somewhat difficult to see Karr sentenced to additional time. There should be a failure to pay child support against him, but that's not a major. Hopefully, for everyone's sake, there are more serious charges beginning to develop somewhere, somehow.

Former JonBenet Slaying Suspect John Mark Karr Headed to California

BOULDER, Colorado — John Mark Karr, who was briefly a suspect in the JonBenet Ramsey slaying, left the Boulder County jail Tuesday in the custody of California officials, authorities said.
Finally! Now we'll see what happens to him on Thursday in Sonoma County Court and how many charges they can pile onto the existing ones......

Forgive me if I am going nuts but I just saw Oreilly on Fox and he had Craig Silverman and some other dude on. I am sure they said that Karr told LE that on the christmas of JBR's murder he was in Alabama with family.even though he said this they still brought him home for questioning. This is an outrage for the taxpayers of Boulder who paid for his flight. Why did'nt they just DNA test him in Thailand? Wait for the results etc.etc.Then bring him home or whatever.

CHILD *advertiser censored* SUSPECT JOHN KARR IN SONOMA COUNTY CUSTODY

Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at 8:37, PM

On Tuesday, September 12, 2006 Sonoma County Sheriff's deputies took custody of John Karr from Boulder County, Colorado authorities. Karr was transported via common carrier airline to Oakland International Airport. Sheriff's deputies then drove Karr to the Sonoma County Sheriff's Main Adult Detention Facility in Santa Rosa. He was booked at 8:05 PM for a 2001 no-bail arrest warrant charging five misdemeanor counts of 311 PC -- possession of child *advertiser censored*.

In response to earlier media inquiries, Sonoma County Sheriff's deputies were in Boulder Colorado on September 7, 2006 for the purpose of extraditing Karr. This effort was abandoned due to an evolving prospect of federal authorities adopting our 2001 misdemeanor charges for federal prosecution. At this point, we have excluded this option.

If any further information concerning John Karr's status is to be released, it will be provided by the Sonoma County District Attorney's Office, who will be prosecuting this case.

DUI? He brings new meaning to that abbreviation Dufus Under Investigation.

Local TV showed a shot of him being shuttled on to another airplane for another trip.

Greg Silverman and could have been Dan Caplis. Both are well known attorneys in Denver, and have a radio show on KHOW.com You can register at the radio station site and then listen to any of their shows. I am guessing it could have been Dan, but I DID NOT see the O'Reilly show.

Greg and Dan sued Lacy under public records to be enabled to read the folderol that Lacy produced for the judge to get Karr from Thailand. EVERYTHING, emails etc.

Keep an eye on KHOW and an ear and you will be kept up to date. Greg and Dan, dotted all the 'I's and crossed all the 'T's' to get legal access to the Lacy's Mickey Mouse Adventure.

Yep, I heard it too!! The DNA was the topic also, said it could have been done, no reason for it not to have been done. The pure sample/comparison was BUNK!

Also they were talking about Lacy being in JR's camp, noting this could've been done by Lacy as this was her way of making sure there would never be a conviction--the case would be forever dead--something like that.

I would betcha, FFJ has every word, in detail! I'll have to check :)

IMO she is a bumble head being led around by the nose by people the likes of Smit and Co.

Yes, it was a fortune to do this fiasco, another Boulder Blunder--tickets $3000 each way/person---4 or 6 peeps,--not counting other expenses.

Lacy should be run out of town! NOW!

Associated Press is reporting that John Mark Karr was scheduled for arraignment at 8:30 a.m.
this morning. That would have been an hour ago.

KCBS news radio is reporting:

Karr Finally Back In Bay Area; Due In Court Thursday

"SANTA ROSA, Calif. (KCBS) -- The man who was once the main suspect in the murder of JonBenet Ramsey is back in the Bay Area.

John Mark Karr was expected to be arraigned Wednesday morning on local charges.

But as KCBS reporter Bob Melrose reported from Santa Rosa, Karr's arraignment is now scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

He's expected to be charged with violating conditions of his release in April, 2001."

"KCBS's Melrose reports that there is speculation that federal charges are also pending, or the local misdemeanors could be updated and re-filed as felonies."

It was reported locally that the arraignment would most likely be tomorrow (Thursday). The media is requesting that the judge allow cameras in the courtroom.

I feel sorry for Karr's ex-wife Lara, and the three boys, ages 16, 14, and 13, who still live in Petaluma. Santa Rosa, where John Mark Karr is being held, is 17 miles North of Petaluma. This has to be a difficult time for them.

Boy isn't that the truth, and his children are at such a vulnerable time in their young lives. I can't even imagine what I would do in such a situation. I pray they are getting a lot of support from the community. If I was Lara, I would be tempted to take the children and go away for awhile, till the media has cooled their heels. They could come visit me, I have lots of room ;)

I guess, it all depends on how big a deal the media makes of this whole fiasco.

2000 - December, through March 2001, he worked in the Petaluma, Old Adobe, Liberty and Wilmar elementary districts as a substitute school teacher.

2001 – early in year, John Mark Karr contacts Wendy Hutchens re: Richard Allan Davis (murdered Polly Klaas in October, 1993, now on Death Row in San Quentin, awaiting execution). Hutchens worked as an informant for Sonoma County Sheriff's Detective Beau Martin, wearing a wire and taping conversations and saving e-mail messages from Karr. The material she gathered was the basis for a search warrant that investigators say resulted in the discovery of child *advertiser censored* in Karr's computer.

2001 - April 3, Sonoma County Sheriff’s deputies seized a computer at Karr’s Petaluma home containing five pornographic images of children.

2001 – April 13: Karr was arrested, and jailed, on five misdemeanor charges of possession of child *advertiser censored* (California Penal Code Section 311.11), and was booked into Sonoma County Jail on $100,000 bail.

2001 - - April 17: Karr pleaded not guilty to the charges, according to court documents

2001 – April 19, Karr's wife Lara filed for divorce

2001 – Oct. 5: After a series of court hearings, Karr was released from jail, without bail, but was ordered to report to a probation officer and avoid child *advertiser censored*, children and places where children congregate, such as schools, beaches and parks. The court records in the case were sealed. A judge ordered Karr to stay away from Wendy Hutchens in a 2001 court order setting conditions for release from a Sonoma County jail after being held for six months on the child *advertiser censored* charges.

2001 – November: A judge issues a restraining order, compelling Karr to stay 100 yards away from his wife and three children for three years. The divorce is finalized.

2001 – December: A warrant was issued for Karr's arrest after authorities said he violated the terms of his supervised release by failing to appear for a court hearing.

09-06-06 San Francisco attorney Robert M. Amparan told Sonoma County Superior Court Judge Cerena Wong that Karr was asserting his right to a speedy trial, meaning the case would have to be heard within 30 days (which would be by Oct. 6)

09-08-06 Extradition attempted from Boulder prevented. Speculation of federal charges.

09-12-06 Karr extradited from Boulder, CO to Sonoma County, Santa Rosa, CA

09-14-06 Karr's Sonoma County, CA arraignment scheduled for 8:30AM before Sonoma County Superior Court Judge Cerena Wong. Robert M. Amparan will represent Karr. http://pier5law.com/robert-amparan.htm

Lots of continued speculation around the possibility of federal charges, or for Karr to be charged with felonies instead of misdemeanors. Karr currently faces five charges on Section 311.11, possession of child *advertiser censored*, and a flight to avoid prosecution charge.

It was reported that they (Boulder LE) didn't have a DNA test kit with them when they went to Thailand to pick him up.

I feel sorry for his children also. He's been out of their lives for five years, and now, not only is he "back" but he's "headline news." This is when it's really unfortunate they don't have a different last name; anything other than "Karr"...

I think they didn't want any defense attorney questioning the sample or the legality with which it was retrieved. I think they also figured that he needed to be brought back anyway - for California or Colerado - he'd be going on one charge or another.

From what I am seeing, it appears that the media is going to be massing; the local stations, and newspapers, all seem to have reporters in Santa Rosa.
