That is very close...i wonder why it was missed, maybe it was buried? Or placed afterwards. A lot of people searched that area no?
It was not buried when we found it. The hat was weathered and it had been out there since we had the drone photos taken inNovember. A lot of people searched different areas but not that specific area. The area is extremey dense so it is very hard to search

I understand the dogs are not 100%. I've brought this up with the Blaze Bernstein case, he was right where the dogs walked the whole time. But it does appear the items were found right off the main trail to the platform all but the key.

I ask myself this question all the time. Why would he not call me or our step mom.
When people unexpectedly find themselves in danger it often takes a while for their brain to catch up with that reality. Calling someone you just saw moments before is logical even if its not an optimal choice. He knew she was around and would likely pick up vs calling someone out of the blue and having to start at the beginning. I was mugged once and despite the adrenaline surge I felt very calm and mostly concerned with the fact that I was going to be late for the meeting I was headed to so the first call I made was to see if we could reschedule. After that I still paused to consider whether it merited calling 911 since I wasn't hurt. I did finally of course but it wasn't an automatic reflex the way people assume it would be. There's some cognitive dissonance that happens. Making a distress call to family or 911 means accepting reality of facing mortal danger. I imagine the younger you are the more surreal and difficult to process that is... To me, Matthew's texts seem like he is very much in disbelief of his situation and looking for someone to get a reality check. I hope there will be real answers instead of speculations. I cannot imagine enduring his family's heartache.

I don't believe I ever saw those?! Do you perhaps have a link available? TIA! :)

Did anyone search the cliff areas or the areas he could of possibly fallen? That just seems like such a likely scenario except for the yelling for help especially with another person... :(

As I'm sure it takes a while to identify remains, I am wondering if the family has gotten any news on the remains found on 1/20/2019 in Malibu. I know a lot of people said it was a long trek from where he went missing. I read on the LA Coroner site that the remains are still, as of today, listed as "unidentified" and was found with a watch (Analog Watch: Casio MQ24 model 1330). There is no mention of clothing.

Can anybody show/mark his hat again in the drone image? I would like to see it to know what it looked like. Which pic was it again 732?
