GUILTY Canada - Paul Bernardo & Karla Homolka, murdered, 1993

I am not sure if this was covered in this thread but does her family still speak to her?

Regarding the movie being released about Bernardo and Homolka...

However, Sellers says he wasn't planning for the film to be distributed in Canada, adding he can't stop people from uploading the film onto the Internet for people to view.

Does anyone know if Sellers made this movie for the US and what network would broadcast it? I would be very surprised if it was being shown on T.V. Just thinking about the books I read about that evil pair make me ill.

Does anyone have information on her behaviour in prison? A link?
Thanks,
Duffy

I also read that there used to be a website taking bets on how long she would live after she was released before someone kills her. The website was taken down.

Rachael,
Thank you for the link. I went there and am thinking maybe I'll go to Canada and get in trouble so I can have a vacation! Good Grief! I can't figure it myself.

Deadly is being made by Quantum Entertainment, a Hollywood-based firm that specializes in low-budget features. It stars Laura Prepon, the actress who plays Donna on That '70s Show, as Homolka. Misha Collins plays Bernardo. --->>

According to the film's website ( http://www.deadlythemovie.com/ ), the story of Bernardo and Homolka is "faithfully recreated" in Deadly.

It adds that every scene is "derived from events transcribed in court testimony using police reports, interviews between Karla and her psychiatrist, and videotape of the crimes shot by the perpetrators themselves." --->>

Quantum does not have a distribution arm in this country. Jim Watson, Ontario's minister of consumer and business services, says he hopes the picture will not have a Canadian release. It is scheduled to come out in the fall in the U.S

"Prosecutors had an opportunity to both "break the deal" and charge Homolka with additional crimes for a period of 8 months between when the tapes were found and authorities agreed not to charge her with additional crimes. "

Is this accurate?
Why would they have choosen Not to charge her with additional crimes?

Hearing Held for Notorious Canada Inmate

Interesting. The article above this post makes it seems that Karla's father is not on her side. But in this article he is defending her.

Homolka's father, Karel, told CP24 news channel that his daughter should face no restrictions once she's out of jail.

"This is Canada, not Russia, right?" he said from his home in St. Catharines in southern Ontario. When asked if his daughter had done her time, he responded: "She sure has, and then some."

and then there is this article:

"Homolka won't be getting a warm welcome from her own family. Her father Karel said he's not yet ready to rebuild his relationship with his oldest daughter.
"Someday, I guess," the senior Homolka said Wednesday from the doorway of his home in St. Catharines, Ont., when asked whether he expects to have a relationship with Karla. "

I heard someone speaking tonight and he started to refer to the Evelyn Dick murders. In Canada, it was also known as "Torso". This woman managed to get the same type of sentence, 11 years or so, after being charged with capital murder for the deaths of her husband and baby.

After she was released, she was at the time Canada's most notorious killer. She disappeared and was never seen from since. Nobody ever confirmed she entered witness protection, but this guy who was speaking was saying how this may be what Karla Homolka will get when she's released.

If her father is saying he does not want to have anything to do with her, it may be to protect her, because if she's going to disappear, then she'll need all the help she can get from family and any friends she may have.

She can't disappear into the woodwork on her own, so they may be arranging for her to disappear with their assistance, and these restrictions imposed on her today may just be a cover to make themselves look good in the wake of this awful "deal with the devil".
