CO CO - Edward, 9, & Austin Bryant, 7, Colorado Springs, 2001-2003

I don't understand why these people received money for years and no one ever checked on them. We need to protect all of our children.

Charges filed against parents of missing Colo boys

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Prosecutors in Colorado have charged the adoptive parents of two missing brothers with theft and forgery.

Fifty-eight-year-old Edward Bryant and 54-year-old Linda Bryant are accused of collecting nearly $175,000 in government payments for the care of the boys, even though the children haven't been in their household for years.

The Bryants told investigators that both boys ran away by 2003, when they would have been 7 and 11 years old. Authorities learned of their disappearance this year, and the boys are still missing.

Prosecutors filed the charges Thursday as the Bryants made their first court appearance since being arrested in Texas last week.

They both wore orange jail jumpsuits and their hands were cuffed behind them.

Bail has been set at $1 million each.

texaslil, this IS the above linked thread? Unless the merge has already happened, in that case, nevermind.

Reminds of an old case in Oklahoma I believe, Colton can't think of his last name. Supposedly ran away. Brother tried running away a few times. Anyone remember that one because I'm curious if anything ever panned out. He had glasses and was a cutie.

What is with these people? Same with Marcus Fiesel, and so many others. And how many others do we not know about?? That's the scary part.

I believe you're talking about Colton Clark. Little boy with glasses from Oklahoma. (NCMEC - http://www.missingkids.com/missingk...NCMC&seqNum=1&caseLang=en_US&searchLang=en_US). But I don't recall about him running away.
ETA: Nevermind. Charley Project says he may have ran away before a psychiatric appointment. But he lived with his aunt and uncle. (http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/c/clark_colton.html)

I think you might be getting his case mixed up with Justin Harris from Wyoming. He is thought to have run away from a childrens' home. But there is some strangeness regarding his family. Search Continues For Missing Monument Brothers

Investigators are hoping that new images will lead to new leads, as the search continues for two Monument boys who were last seen more than seven years ago.

The images, generated by experts at the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, show what Edward and Austin Bryant might look like today.

Two Boys Still Missing; Couple Facing Murder Charges

"We're certainly losing faith that we're going to find these children," El Paso Co. Sheriff Terry Maketa told FOX31 News.

But the sheriff says keeping the case in the public's eye with new computer enhanced photos depicting how the boys, Austin and Edward, may have aged from the time they were last seen is a shot in the dark.

"Our investigators, over the last several weeks, have actually done some digs in different areas where it may have been disturbed…we'll continue doing that…and that circle will broaden as we have more information or clues of where to look," according to Maketa

Both Linda and Edward Bryant remain behind bars on charges they defrauded the county of almost $200,000 to care for the boys, and the couple now face possible murder charges.

It kills me to think that no one noticed that these kids had disappeared......

Mom of missing boys pleads guilty in welfare fraud

The adoptive mother of two missing Monument boys pleaded guilty Thursday to charges she pocketed nearly $200,000 in El Paso County welfare support without reporting the children’s disappearance.

Linda K. Bryant faces between four and 648 years in prison — with the unusually wide sentencing range due to the number of counts to which she pleaded guilty. Fourth Judicial District Judge Timothy J. Schutz is expected to impose her sentence March 30.

Edward Bryant, 58, who faces similar charges, is due for an April 23 trial.

Adoptive mom of missing boys gets 42 years for welfare fraud

A former Monument woman accused of pocketing more than $150,000 in welfare support while for years concealing the disappearance of two adopted boys was sentenced Friday to 42 years in prison.

Linda K. Bryant, 55, is unlikely “to see or even breathe free air again,” prosecutor Jennifer Viehmann said, calling it an appropriate fate, but adding that it doesn’t address the case’s central mystery.

“This case will never truly be over until we find these two boys,” she said.
