And this makes me sad too because I know so many amazing, caring, nurturing stepmoms.

My stepmom was a witch, and my brothers and I never spoke to her , after my father's funeral, except through attorneys in a lawsuit when she tried to steal our part of the estate.

But nevertheless, I know some wonderful step parents and I hate the way this woman is acting because it taints them. My stepdad was the most loving, supportive man and I am thankful he was there for us and our mother for so many decades.

So it hurts me to see this stepmom acting in such a bitter, petty way, and portraying the stereotype.
I hear ya . Following some of the cases are so hard but seeing the love in this community and how they are pulling together.im praying for a positive outcome but have seen this so much lately it’s hard to be hopeful jmoo moo

I can see most of your points. I guess I'm still thinking that he's 11. A 16yr maybe.
My mind goes to a previous case, where a very young girl was given a burner phone by a perv in his 20's. Could someone have been grooming GS?

Maybe they knew his Homelife was tense, and they targeted him in that way? Offering to help him go see his bio mom?

As a general rule, elementary school children don't have burner phones.
Not quite correct.

since about 45% of American kids get a smartphone service plan between 10 and 12. Even experts can’t agree on whether technology is dangerous for kids

They do get hold of ways of bypassing their parents.
I don't think we can generalize in this case because no information at all has been released about his tech ability or usage or that of his peers. Many children are far more sophisticated than adults in their use of tech from a very young age.
I don't think it's good but it's the way it is.

Absolutely trying to make herself the victim when the victim is Gannon and his bio parents and all those that love him.

Just some thoughts running through my sad and muddled brain. If Gannon did indeed runaway because of an "episode" with SM, why didn't he take his phone, and just shut it off until he wanted to be found, if in fact he made that Google search? I'm not convinced he did. Was he prevented from taking it? Let's say someone wasn't treating GS very lovingly while his father was away and he was texting his dad or bio mom. SM takes his phone and the proverbial doo doo hits the fan. He runs away out of desperation. "Someone" takes his phone and scrubs those texts and quickly does the search so whoever finds that search concludes he didn't take the phone because he thought they'd find him when in fact he wasn't allowed to take it. Confusing, I know, but there's so much more going on here than we know. LE KNOW. Hence how they are treating her, like a suspect. Hence how bio dad and mom are treating her. Perhaps there is a lot of anger because of what they know and we don't.

I don't know what has happened to Gannon, but I do know (and so do all of you) there's SO much she's NOT telling. Lies of omission. I sincerely hope the search efforts locate Gannon and that by some miracle he is alive.

All speculation on my part, naturally.

Question is if LE has considered this or if it's a matter of red tape or time. Hard to believe it would be so difficult to get history of texts, search results, or calls in this day and age.

I was wondering that too. With these gaming systems like Xbox Live, they are communicating with strangers all over the place. If someone aided in his disappearance, I hope it is someone who thought he was in danger (like another kid) and not a bad person.

Just an observation....Parenting 101 - when a child stays home from school sick, the child is not allowed to go outside and play, right? So, Mommy gut tells me that a child who stayed home from school sick should not be going to a friend's house either.

It's impossible to know how intelligent or canny he is. Nobody has described his skills or abilities.
All children are different, not a homogeneous race of 8 yr olds or 11 yr olds or teens etc..
We have nothing.
If he had been a scout or in scout training it's quite likely he would have learnt the basics of survival skills at 11.
We just do not know enough to make any kind of an educated guess about where he may have chosen to go, if it was his choice.
We're working in the dark.

I think most people agree with you on that point.

Not all parents have the same rules though, so it’s fishy, but not necessarily a damning inconsistency.

Then it's down to old fashioned footwork.
The terrain strikes me as being a young boy's paradise for adventures.
As one searcher said in an early vid of the search of the old house 'there are hundreds of places a kid could hide around here'
Looking at this terrain there are possibly thousands of hideyholes.
Do young boys still make camps and have secret places to stash their stuff and play whatever games are fashionable?
I’m not sure what little boys do nowadays. My twelve year old tomboy granddaughter and her friends do. They build secret hideouts in the crevices of bushes and trees. She’ll bring a thermos, an old cane pole, a butterfly net and string to tie branches together to create camouflage from the boy’s secret hideouts so they can spy on them. Her mom and big sister went down there at the first mention to check it out. So they would know exactly where she was. I don’t know exactly what these girls do when they’re down there. She comes home muddy, tracking her shoes all over the floor carrying baby food jars of bugs.

I can definitely see Gannon and his friends doing it though. Surely, another child would have confided in their parents by now. I keep hope until there is no other choice. I’m leaning toward the idea he fell by accident and neglect. Somewhere on the hike. Panic. Cover up. I keep thinking of SM’s daughters. How frightened they must feel. Fear of the unknown is real. She is their mother. They surely love her.

Please let me know if I am remembering this correctly:
-Gannon asked stepmom if he could go visit a friend and stepmom said, "No."
-Gannon then texted his bio-Dad and asked him (most likely leaving out the being sick part) and Dad said, "Yes."

It depends on the illness.
In this case it was reported that he missed school due to sickness OR a doctor's appointment.
In the case of the latter he would not necessarily have been acutely unwell so quite well able to go and socialise and enjoy his day off without endangering anybody else or spreading germs.

Does anyone know if there's been any mention by LE or media that there's some kind of proof they were at the Burger King she says they were at on Sunday? Do fast food places usually have cameras recording the counter/register area or dining room, I wonder? Or, does anyone happen to know if anyone has come forward to say they saw them hiking at Garden of the Gods (my understanding is that GOTG is a very busy place, lots of people).

Your grandchild sounds like she has a fabulous free life! That's great insight. I imagine it would be kinds of outdoorsy pursuits like this that he would have engaged in with his mates.
He may even have constructed on of such comfort and safety that he is living there happily still.
I hope.

The fact that she wasn’t willing to talk about many of the details in that interview, but was adamant that she was at Burger King, tells me that it’s true.

She’s not willing to talk about what matters, but is willing to talk about the things that don’t.

Law enforcement will obviously check it out, and I have no doubt they’ll be satisfied she was there. Burger King has cameras, and transactions leave records.

I just dont know what to think. Her interview was alarming, but I can't imagine the other children being involved in any way (cover-up or whatever) especially the 9 yo. So that means if harm came to G at SM's hands, it had to happen Monday while the others were out of the house. That doesn't give her a lot of time to cover her tracks. Unless, of course, she had it all planned in advance. I guess I'm on the fence.

I agree, I think everything that happened on that Sunday was factual. I have issues with Sunday night and Monday. IMO

Oh, I don't doubt that she was at Burger King.

The real question is whether GS was at Burger King.

JMO.

Yeah, the timing concerns me as well. There’s definitely enough time to pull something like that off, but probably not enough time to pull it off well.

I would have expected him to be found by now.

That being said, law enforcement is behaving like this is foul play, and him running away seems very unlikely.

Too much time has passed, he hasn’t returned or been found, and there doesn’t appear to be any witnesses or footage.

I still think this is foul play, but I don’t have a clue how it all went down.

I have no doubt they have checked the phone records and texts on Gannon's phone. Even if someone deleted some of his texts to his bio parents, the parents have those texts.
