*my device has crapped out so will have to pick up here tomorrow

Link has image map, and says LE is not ruling out the possibility its related. Also says he was killed Monday morning while riding his bike.

*From everything I've seen so far it seems the victim John Jacoby was a hardworking family man well loved by many and "wouldn't hurt a flea".

"WINDSOR, Colo. — An employee with Windsor was shot and killed on a Weld County road Monday morning while riding his bicycle.

"A passerby found 48-year old John Jacoby dead about 10 a.m. on County Road 15 near County Road 72. Windsor police don’t know how long his body had been there."

"Higuera said investigators are not ruling out the possibility the shooting is related to the case of a 20-year-old woman who was shot while driving on Interstate 25 near Windsor last month.

“Our patrols are always very active and we’ll continue to be active in all areas of town,” Higuera said.

Jacoby was shot twice. There are no suspects or leads."

"“He was a good kid.* He didn’t deserve this,” said Bertha Jacoby, a close family friend.* “It’s just something that shouldn’t have happened because he never hurt a soul.”

Jacoby had two part-time jobs, working at King Soopers and for Windsor as a park caretaker.

He loved cheering for the Broncos and riding his bicycle around town.

“He wouldn’t hurt a flea,” Jacoby said.* “I keep asking myself why?* Why God? Why?”

"Jacoby was a part-time park caretaker with the Town of Windsor, according to Windsor Police.

Weld County Coroner Mark Ward has scheduled an autopsy, which may give police more clues, including the possible caliber of the weapon.

Police are asking for tips on the shooting. If you have information that may be of help to police, please call 800-222-8477."

(I'm going to guess that in John's case, the shooter was in a vehicle, pulled up to him or behind him and maybe shot him at fairly close range? Speculating)...

I wonder how long it will take for ballistics to complete their analysis and release their findings after the autopsy...I will very anxiously be awaiting these results.

Actually, upon further thought, I'm going to guess that they might not even release specifics, such as caliber, in order to protect the integrity of the investigation IF this is the work of a serial shooter...but then again, they may need to reach out to the public for help...

Hey, I just had an idea...In the last case I studied, Forager said to holler if I needed help with any maps...I think I'm going to take him/her up on it....

Map Points: (An image screenshot which shows both locations and zooms out about 60 miles around would be great)

1. Wednesday, April 22, 2015:
"A woman was shot in the neck while driving on Interstate 25 in Larimer County late Wednesday night, the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office said.

The 20-year-old woman from Milliken was driving alone southbound on I-25 between East Harmony Road and Highway 392 when the driver’s side window of the vehicle was shattered about 11:15 p.m., the sheriff’s office said."

2. May 18, 2015: "Windsor Police said John Jacoby, 48, was shot and killed while riding northbound on County Road 15 just south of County Road 72, north of Windsor, at about 10 a.m."

Points to ponder IF these incidents are related:

*The first incident occurred at night, the second in the day (shooter becoming more brazen? Wants a better visual? Accuracy?)

*The shootings have occurred less than a month apart (active phase as opposed to cooling off period?)

Qmfr:

"Weld County has determined that 16 of 22 reported shattered windows are likely from road debris, temperature changes or vibrations.

"We can't find anything positive or concrete to say why these windows are breaking. We can't explain it," said Standbridge.

He's trying to create a safe reenactment where the sheriff's office can shoot at a window of a moving car, to show the public how the window likely shatters differently than the ones experienced by drivers last month.

"Like Mythbusters," said Standbridge. "But it's so broad, it's going to take us forever to put it together."

Wait a minute, 16 out of the 22...what about the OTHER SIX?

(Maybe the thread title needs to be updated to "Possible Serial Shooter Has Drivers AND BICYCLISTS On Edge" :shakehead:)

*We'll see what happens with their investigation.

Even if there is not a "serial" shooter, who gunned down John Jacoby? And who shot that poor woman in the neck while she was driving?

The woman was shot Southeast of Fort Collins on the entrance ramp from Harmony Road to Southbound I25. The location where Jacoby was shot is 3.5 miles East of I25 on Harmony then one mile South on CR 15.

"Lt. Richard Higuera holds a press conference in the Windsor Police Department building Monday evening" (Dana Rieck /Loveland Reporter-Herald)

"He said the investigation is in its preliminary phases and there are no suspects in the case at this time.

Higuera does not believe people need to worry about cycling on rural roads like Weld County Road 15, but he said people should always be aware of their circumstances. He noted during the press conference that the homicide doesn't appear to be connected to anything else — including the Interstate 25 shooting that left a Milliken woman critically injured — but that all angles are being looked at.

He said the county road Jacoby was found in is a Moderately traveled road."

(Snip)

"He said the investigation is ongoing and further updates will be provided Tuesday morning."

(FTR, If t turns out that these incidents are not related to each other, I do not feel my efforts have been wasted by posting all this information because imo its better to be safe than sorry and for documentation purposes we may need to refer back to some of this later...also, whatever the case, its still attempted murder and murder, and the person(s) responsible still needs to be found! Cyclist shot and killed near Windsor: FBI joins investigation and search for suspect
Triathlon scheduled this week in Windsor
http://www.thedenverchannel.com/new...s-concerned-after-cyclist-was-shot-and-killed

"Organizers of a triathlon scheduled to take place in Windsor this weekend say they are considering canceling the events.*

Tuesday, organizers of the*Pelican Fest Triathlon*sent race participants an email with the subject line "Concerns."

"I'm very concerned about this situation and how it may [affect] the safety of all of you on Saturday," Race Director Dennis Vanderheiden wrote.

The event added a triathlon for kids and teens this year.

Organizers say they are talking to local law enforcement about safety precautions.

Vanderheiden stated that he would be in contact with the Windsor Police Department and the Weld County Sheriff's Office to discuss "what they can offer."

DD came back from Laramie last night, and I was nervous as a prostitute in church until she got home. I have lived in Ft Collins, Longmont, Boulder, Coal Creek Canyon, and Lafayette, and I promise, not once did my car windows shatter. Now, once at a party in Evergreen, some people were having a water balloon fight. One of the water balloons landed on the windshield of a Mercedes, and it did shatter. It was a hot day, and the water was cold. What a bunch of horse pucky. They're endangering lives by not calling this what it apparently is. I get that they don't want panic, but people need to be informed.
