"Identified as Suzanne Morphew, 49, it was reported that the woman had gone missing in the area of County Road 225 and Highway 50, which is near Fooses Dam (see map below) and approximately 14 miles west of Salida. It’s also worth mentioning that the 485-mile Colorado Trail cuts through this swathe of land, making it a popular spot for outdoor recreation and backpackers that might be passing through.
    ...
Morphew is a resident of Maysville, Colorado – a town of 135 residents that’s located on Highway 50 between Salida and Monarch Mountain."

A Colorado woman went for a bike ride on Mother’s Day, and hasn’t been seen since, authorities said.

Suzanne Morphew, a 49-year-old married mother of two, was reported missing Sunday by a neighbor after she did not return from a bike ride near County Road 225 and West Highway 50 in Chaffee County, sheriff officials announced Monday.

A search for Morphew, of Maysville, involving more than 100 law enforcement officials — including some with tracking dogs — “began immediately,” but no sign of the woman was found.

She remained missing as of early Wednesday, Chaffee County Sheriff John Spezze told The Post.

Spezze declined to comment on whether Morphew’s husband is cooperating with authorities in the search for the woman or whether investigators believe foul play was involved.

“This is an open criminal investigation,” Spezze said during a brief interview.

The Sheriff’s Office has blocked off the road at Hwy 50 and County Road 225. According to online records, Suzanne Morphew may have a house down this road. There looks to be a few houses down the road that I can see through the trees.

The Sheriff has declined to speak with me on camera, and has no new information for the media. He did say they are working on a tip line but did not have the info available yet. He could not confirm any reward being offered. They are not asking for the public’s help searching.

Also, the Chaffee County Sheriff says they are not considering it a criminal investigation, but it’s not being ruled out.
