If it were a bomb they would have called in the bomb squad and gotten the heck out of there until they arrived.

I think sending the bomb squad to the suspects house would be standard operating procedure in the light of the past Batman shooting.

IMO, Seems, AL had meticulously pre-planned this horrific crime, right down to his intended child victims; the most vulnerable and innocent among us. The Sandy Hook CT elementary school shooting wasn't an impulsive act, imo, indicated by his attempt to purchase weapons days before, murdering his mom; NL preceding the attack, and concluding his evil, savage, and extremely sadistic act..
We are all trying to make sense of this senseless act. Not sure that we will ever know the why. Recently when prolific serial killer Israel Keyes, was asked by interrogators why he killed. His response was, "why not"...

I agree that this was planned. Probably for quite some time.
I think the killer's anger and his chosen targets were his ultimate vengeance.

There was a quote in the previous thread saying that the killer took the divorce hard and refused all contact with his father after the divorce although the father was trying. So I don't imagine that he knows much about what was going on very recently.

I wonder if the smashing of the hard drives was symbolic somehow. He didn't go quite as far as throw away the pieces in an unrelated dumpster or a ditch or a bush somewhere; that would have made almost 100% certain that the police never find the pieces, let alone dig up any information on those destroyed hard drives.

I definitely think he did that to toy with people. He could have thrown it away in any drive through restaurant trash can and nobody would even know it existed. But he went through more effort to be sure it would be both found and unattainable.

Sadly we had increased police presence yesterday at our schools....and this morning city schools in the next town had threats and had to go to lockdown....so sad that copy cat things exist....probably just a kid thinking it is funny but you never know when the threat is real.....I am of the opinion that these folks are not mentally disturbed but just plan evil. IMO.

The last I heard of it, Lt. Vance said at a presser that there were no reports of such an incident. I assume he meant a report filed regarding an incident of that nature.

Interesting that a judge ordered that NL would be the one who made final decisions regarding the upbringing of AL. WoW! I think this speaks volumes as to why the dad might not have had contact in 2 years.

According to the article, this would be Ms. Rousseau's class. In the article it says Emilie Parkers father confirmed she was absent the day of that photo. There is one unidentified girl in the middle of the photo. If news reports are correct, It is possible this is the girl who told her mother that she was alive but all her friends were dead. If that is correct then there would be 15 victims from this class and one survivor. 16 students total in that class. So the children in Ms. Rousseau's class would be

I'm sorry if anyone finds this off topic but I've just been so consumed with thinking about these beautiful victims and have wanted to devour any information I could in regards to them.

Since AL smashed the computers, spent most of his time on them, and appeared very bright, I am now wondering if he wiped the hard drives before smashing. I hope not, or if he did, I hope he was unaware that most of the free programs for that do not work so well and trained specialists can find whatever he did not want them to.

If he physically opened the hard drives and destroyed the platters (disks themselves) it will be nearly impossible to obtain data from them. If he damaged the drive without opening it up the data MAY be salvageable depending on how he damaged it. If he was "into" computers he could have sanitized the hard drives then physically smashed them which would render any data stored on it unrecoverable.

BUT...keep in mind - that our Internet history "lives" on more than just our computers hard drives....

wfgodot, from memory, when Vance was first asked about this, his response was that he didn't have any report of a confrontation the day before.

It's just a little sad that there are thousands of popular video games that deal with killing and shooting and destroying and practically none that I can think of that you can win by displaying altruistic, prosocial behaviors, cooperating with others to help people in need and being considerate of others.

Ita. I have to add movies, especially Hungar Games and on television American Horror where they had a student shooting classmates.
