The risk of traveling far from home for exercise is you are endangering the small, rural communities you are traveling to. In my state our Fish & Game department has started publishing the names and hometowns of "hikers" who have needed rescue over the past few days to TRY to deter the thousands of people that are treating this stay-at-home order as a vacation. Spoiler alert: most are from out of state or far from where they are hiking. You may think you're an experienced hiker but one slip and you're calling in our local rescue teams who can't socially distance while they are trying to rescue your behind off a mountain or out of a wilderness area.

Exercise outside in YOUR neighborhood. Walk YOUR streets. Don't tax small rural hospitals and police departments because you want a change of scenery.

National Park Service asking folks to stay off the Appalachian Trail. NPS must rely on small local volunteer Fire and EMS for rescues and medical assistance. These communities are struggling for donations when 80% or more are out of work.

Yes, pictures of a few people that are kept covered might speak more to a person as to the reality of the importance to do as told. Numbers of people might not get through to some. There weren't trucks filled like that from the flu? I doubt, opinion
 
Our Shoppers Drug Mart's have had security guards in place who question you before you enter. That has been in place approx. 2 weeks here. I hope the Lady my friend saw in Giant Tiger last week got nabbed. Her tan was so deep and dark she said there is no way she isolated for 14 days. I would have called her out. Loudly. Then again I have no need to be in a store even if I could right now.

Governor Abbott Issues Executive Order Mandating 14-Day Quarantine For Travelers Arriving From New York Tri-State Area, New Orleans | Office of the Texas Governor | Greg Abbott

Every person who enters the State of Texas as the final destination through an airport, from a point of origin or point of last departure in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, or the City of New Orleans, or in any other state or city as may be proclaimed hereafter, shall be subject to mandatory self-quarantine for a period of 14 days from the time of entry into Texas or the duration of the person’s presence in Texas, whichever is shorter. This order to self-quarantine shall not apply to people traveling in connection with military service, emergency response, health response, or critical-infrastructure functions, as may be determined by the Texas Division of Emergency Management. Each person covered under this order to self-quarantine shall be responsible for all associated costs, including transportation, lodging, food, and medical care.


A covered person shall use a form prescribed by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) to designate a quarantine location in Texas, such as a residence or a hotel, and provide a full name, date of birth, home address, telephone number, and driver license or passport information. DPS Troopers, or other approved peace officers, shall collect a completed form from each covered person immediately upon disembarking and verify it against the person’s driver license or passport. Providing false information on this form is a criminal offense under Section 37.10 of the Texas Penal Code. Questions about this form should be directed to DPS at (800) 525-5555.


A covered person shall proceed directly from the airport to the designated quarantine location entered on the DPS form. Any covered person exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 shall be escorted to the designated quarantine location by a DPS Trooper.

Gov Cuomo/NY:

Front-line battle is in HC System (hospitals)

Don't let the hospital system get overwhelmed

-We need to recruit and share more HC workers w/in this State & Country

I am asking HC professionals/workers across the nation > IF u don't have a HC crisis in ur community, pls come help us in NY Now.

We need relief now And

Michigan as a whole. Just talked with a friend in MI her single mom sister has it, as well as her two teens. The trio did get into a Grand Rapids hospital, but since they are a “unit”, all with like symptoms, only one could be tested as it is a given the other two are in fact positive. They can’t waste resources to tell someone what is already known.
Evidently their main symptom is excruciating headache. The female had major surgery a few weeks ago & initially felt her headache was a result of that, until her kids started complaining.

This is a great plan but enforcing it is another matter. We can’t even get CDL drivers (commercial drivers license) into DPS offices to renew their CDLs. Also, they can’t get their medical cards renewed. If their medical card expires, their CDL gets downgraded to a regular driver’s license. The Fed Gov is providing exemptions for all these drivers with expired medicals and CDLs so they can keep driving.

Under federal or state Emergency Declarations CDL restrictions on driving hours and renewals are lifted. The same for all medical licenses and most state lift restrictions on out of state practitioners
 
Our grandson who is a RN at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital which is one of the worst hotspots in our state just called us.

He said anyone entering the hospital from now on must wear a mask before entering. Masks will be provided outside by staff before anyone enters. They have already restricted any visitors.

I have an appointment on April 9th with my cardiologist at Phoebe It's the same cardiologists team of doctors our granddaughter works for as a PA. She also called me today, and recommended I cancel it for now until the cases decrease. The number of cases still continues to climb. I had never had any problems with my heart ever until I was in PPMH when it happened out of the blue on March 4th.

I only had serious spinal issues taking 1 medication only until then, but even my spinal specialist did a tele-patient/doctor visit with me this morning. He said he is doing this with all high risk patients.

So all of this is all so new to me as I KNOW it is for every one else who has even had to change the way they receive doctor's care, and get their medications.

Oh my brother just called too. He said they were just told each employee must take their temperature right before work. If they have any fever at all they won't be allowed to come to work. He's an essential employee.

Oh my. I wish them well. Yes Michigan.....which is where my American Family are. They are well. So far.

We have a common enemy right now. Let's not do politics. Let's do partnership. We really really need to work together to solve this. And do everything we can to save every life possible.

USNS Comfort Arrives in NYC Today to Aid Hospitals During Coronavirus Outbreak

NEW YORK - The 1,000 hospital bed, Navy ship USNS Comfort is expected to dock on Manhattan's west side Monday morning.

Its aim is to help reduce the number of people in local hospitals.

Military medical staff will not treat coronavirus patients.

Instead, the ship will will help other people. This will free up space for COVID-19 patients at area hospitals.

The Comfort is equipped with 12 operating rooms, ICU beds, radiology suites, a CAT scanner and a pharmacy.

About 1,100 medical staff is expected to be onboard, mostly active duty service members.

The ship will dock at pier 90 along the West Side Highway.

IIRC the other USNS hospital ship is called the MERCY, also appropriately named.
