Deceased/Not Found Danka Ilić, 1 year old, Bor, Serbia, 26 March 2024 *arrest*

"During the search for Danka,

a large number of people were questioned and a large number of houses and cars were inspected.

The girl's body has not yet been found.

Police and rescue teams search the area every day in search of the girl's body.

Although the two suspects confessed to the crime,
the place where the body is still a mystery, and
everything is complicated by the fact that one of them defended himself by remaining silent,
while the other changed his story.

The police inspected 158 houses and gardens
and 175 apartments in eight buildings,
as well as 36 vehicles,
among which 30 were identified on surveillance camera footage, and the drivers were interviewed.

15 people were taken to the polygraph,
and the information obtained that way is used as an aid in the investigation.

The police also examined the logs at the base stations,
in order to establish who was moving around the settlement at the time of Danka's disappearance.

41,751 telephones were registered at the base stations, while 24,455 telephone numbers were recorded at the base station at the exit from Bor,
which covers Banjsko Polje,
of which 916 were registered online at the critical time on March 26.

A few days later,
on April 2, the police took the phone numbers of 658 residents of Banjsko Polje for easier analysis of logs at base stations.

Also, 175,000 communications were intercepted - telephone and text messages.

Two-year-old Danka Ilić disappeared on March 26,
and on the same day the
'Find Me' system was activated and the police started a search.

After a nine-day search,
it was announced that a girl had been killed,
and that the workers of the PUC 'Vodovod'
Dejan Dragijević and Srđan Janković had been arrested.

The two of them are charged with the criminal offense of aggravated murder in complicity,
and they were ordered to be detained for up to 30 days.

Dejan Dragijević's father and brother were also arrested for helping to hide the body,
but Dejan's brother died less than two days after the arrest."

Does anyone know if they have cadaver dogs in Serbia ?
I'm asking because it was mentionned in this article that sniffer dogs could not be used since she wasn't missing but deceased and unfound, so her smell wouldn't be the same as the smell on her clothes. But then my first thought was like "then bring in cadaver dogs!!" But maybe they don't have any ?

It was also stated in the same article that the suspect led LE to 20 different locations but they didn't find Danka in any of these.

I mean, the ridiculous number of possible places he has taken LE to could be because there is no actual body to find. They/he could have completely destroyed the evidence, and they are not admitting to that.
While this is possible, I do really hope it's not the case ... Her poor parents deserve to, at least, be able to give her a proper place to rest ..

" 'Someone else did it,
so they placed it on him'

said Svetlana Dragijević
after she left the house for the first time after the son's funeral.

'I'm afraid of the militia (Police),
of journalists... they just take pictures of me.

They took the chainsaw ,
they were the ones in white clothes, taking swabs.

They were here from 10 to half past three in the morning, everything is in the papers, everything is written.

Just take my soul!
I know nothing,
I know nothing!
Neighbors were at the funeral,
but relatives were not'.

All the time during the conversation,
she repeated that she was afraid of being alone.

- 'I go to hospital by myself,
they come from the emergency room and measure my blood pressure.
I don't know what the neighbors say,
they come in the evening and sit with me'
- she said.

As she added, she thinks that her son is not guilty.

The Ministry of the Interior says that they are searching the village of Sumrakovac, which is about 13 kilometers from the village of Zlot.

There are several possible routes from Zlot to Sumrakovac,
mostly roads for agricultural machinery,
without asphalt, with gravel,
and there are bushes around the road.

Therefore, it is a very inaccessible terrain,

reports N1."

RSBM
Out of all the things they likely took, she emphasized the chainsaw. This adds more weight to my thinking there is no evidence of a body left, and I do not think they will come forward with this information. It's awful.

Claiming a conspiracy is the easiest excuse for people who don't want to face reality and probably shame that comes with it.
The police have spent a gazillion hours on this case so far. They are leaving no stone unturned. Sadly it might still not be enough to find Danka. They were checking multiple locations based on the suspects' cell phone pings.

The mother of the suspect in Danka's murder refused to testify

"S. D., mother of D.D. who is suspected of the murder of two-year-old Danka Ilić and her husband R.D., who is suspected of helping to hide the girl's body, used her legal right not to testify in the prosecution."

The mother of the suspect in Danka's murder refused to testify

Not a big surprise, Imo
