I truly don't understand, how the Frazee trial thankfully has been resolved and yet this one just keeps dragging out. This one has a body and the other didn't which makes it even more confusing.
I think credit goes to District Attorney Dan May and how he runs his county court jurisdiction. (In all fairness, he also has a larger budget than La Plata County).
MOO

Top judge extends cancellation of jury trials through June 1

April 16, 2020

Colorado’s top judge on Thursday extended a statewide suspension on jury trials through June 1 due to the coronavirus.

The extension means that nobody will be required to report for jury duty through May. The decision Thursday by Colorado Supreme Court Chief Justice Nathan Coats extended an order issued March 16 that suspended all jury trials.

So I looked at the court site.... looks like the pretrial hearing on 5/7 has been cancelled as well as the trial starting on 5/26....

It is sad how long this is taking and all the delays but at least he is in jail. I just think the longer a trial is delayed, the better chance the defense has to raise reasonable doubt and take advantage of the witnesses memory loss. I felt like saving vacation time to see this trial because we all know this likely won't be live streamed. It's Colorado.

oh geez - hearing moved again.... I didn't copy all the dates for trial - goes to 7/20/20.

https://www.courts.state.co.us/user...La_Plata/Redwine/Order Declaring Mistrial.pdf

A setting Conference was held on June 23, 2020. At that time, the Court found that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, theChief Justice of the Supreme Court's extension of the state-wide moratorium on jury trials to protect the health of the public, and the inability to seek a waiver from the moratorium based upon the complexity and length of this particular trial, the Courtfinds pursuant to C. R. Crim. P. 24(c)(4), that a public health crisis prevents the Court from safely assembling a fair jury pooland declares a mistrial in this case. This case is reset for a 6-week jury trial to begin on October 28, 2020 at 8:00 AM with an all-day PTC set for October 8 at9:00 AM. All subpoenas previously issued and served upon witnesses are continued until October 28, 2020
