At least Dr Otto has his documents with him #JulieSchenecker

He didn't administer any tests himself. The focus was the state of JS's mind at the time of the crime. He saw her years after the crime. Her state of mind in the months or years after the crime would not necessarily be her state of mind at the time of the crime.

Otto says he didn't give Schenecker psychological tests. Needed to know about her past state of mind, not present. #ScheneckerTrial

Trial Queen Sharee ‏@TrialQnSharee 23s
Dr Otto did not administer any tests on #JulieSchenecker since he got the case after she committed the crime & had large amounts of records

Otto says it's rare to find someone criminally insane in FL. State has "very restrictive criteria in my opinion” #ScheneckerTrial

Dr Otto says he didn't see clear evidence of psychotic behavior other than seeing from one doctor she was confused #JulieSchenecker

Testified that JS had long history of mental illness that began with depression and evolved into bipolar.

Despite treatment, she remained symptomatic. Problems with substance abuse interfered.

Did not see clear evidence of psychotic behavior, except for note from counselor that she appeared confused, but that could be due to other things.

Saw no references to hallucinations or delusions.

Interviewed defendant after reviewing most of the materials. Met with her and her attorney 5 times, for 14.5 hours.

not the time for filibustering.....trial was moving along so well

Morning Sleuthers!

Just getting here. I had the trial on while getting some housework done and I am really liking Dr. Otto. Very matter of fact, very confident and defense does not like his testimony. We're going to see a lot of side bars, probably the most we've seen throughout this entire trial.

@courtchatter As with Dr. Myers, Dr Otto also testified for the Defense in #TylerHadley case. #JulieSchenecker

Doc says demeanor was serious and cooperative. Sometimes smiled but did a good job expressing herself. She would divert off topic at times

When hired by Defense Dr Otto has found a people sane, and when hired by State he has found people insane #JulieSchenecker

But, of course. Professional witness.
Whoops! Good Morning WS Friends!

JS's demeanor - serious, cooperative, sometimes pleasant, able to smile, she was upset & distressed when discussing difficult issues, family issues.

Sometimes tangental -- started talking about other things than question he gave. Reported lack of memory about some things he asked her.

She remembers shooting her son and returning him to the house. She remembers shooting her daughter and putting her in bed. She remembers reloading the gun, drinking alcohol after the shooting. Being approached by police officers on the lanai.

She said she woke up one morning with the clear thought that she would kill herself. Made her way to a gun shop. She consistently reports she had no memory of thinking about killing her children (when she bought the gun).
