And she's still smiling (to no-one) as she walked out the door with her chains on. Unbelievable.
Drunk or sober, still Sarah. Full of herself.

No room for anyone else.

Prosecutors have about 40 more minutes of rebuttal- stay tuned tomorrow

The state said the balance of their rebuttal will be the prosecutor reading out loud from a (40 page? or 140 page?) PDF that is in evidence. Anyone know what this document is?

Owens sounded pretty defeated at the end when discussing their plans for tomorrow.

She 'entrained' him. That's what the word is for when abusers brainwash their victims to do their bidding - entrainment.

Poor JT had lost agency over himself and she needed him to stay drunk so she could keep abusing him IMO.

IMO:
SB had a "depraved mind" long before and during killing Jorge.

'Second Degree Murder'

A person may be charged with second-degree murder in Florida if they commit one of the following acts:

'Murder with a Depraved Mind'

'Murder with a depraved mind is committed when a person is killed, without premeditation. The murder happens as a result of an imminently dangerous act to another, demonstrating a depraved mind and displaying no regard for human life.

The primary distinction between premeditated first-degree murder and second-degree murder with a depraved mind is thatthe former requires a premeditated intent to kill.'

Eww she is a NASTY one!
I personally think two alcoholics living together never works out there will always be drama.
She is definitely not afraid of him. That's odd to me. You would think she would be the one who would walk on egg shells around him when he's been drinking.

I agree but then she's a sadistic abuser by default IMO and no amount of alcohol caused that and getting sober didn't cure it.

She's not afraid of him because he's a gentle creature by nature, she had taken him hostage, infected his mind, brainwashed him, entrained him :(

JT said "yes ma'am" quite a few times throughout the videos when she was berating him.

Also SB was giving JT instructions what to say about her, describing her basically as an angel/saint.
I missed what that was for?
A court appearance?

I believe she was wanting him to go LE and tell them these things to get LE to drop the charges against her for strangulation. Prompting him to practice what he would tell LE about how she was actually an angel, etc.

No guaranteed appeal! For any appeal, defense would have to prove there was an error in the application of the law, procedural error, unfair trial, insufficient evidence, ineffective assistance of counsel, and I don't think there would be agreement the Judge was in error here. MOO

The judge was great with Owens today.

Another question:

I mentioned earlier if the state could claim that they too were ambushed by the bss admittance. An op said that it was brought up by one of the previous attorneys so it wasn’t an ambush.

Even though it was mentioned by a previous attorney it didn’t get approved until just days ago. Could the state say they need more time because of that?

Thank you.
Something worked because the charge was dropped.
SB kept insisting to LE that JT's family "hated" her.
If true that certainly wouldn't be surprising or unwarranted.

If true it

Wow……I just finished watching today. My God if ya didn’t hate her ( I didn’t)……before watching her home movies…..you do now. She is evil. I
Can’t scrape my jaw off the floor.

I sure wish Jorge would have told the police what was going on. They were begging him to offer up something…anything. His answer…” naw…she’s my woman. Poor guy.

I think Owens is going to gain a new following. He is 100% committed to SB defense.

I think they said text messages.

Didn't the prosecution do or say something during the trial that opened the door for BSS then the defense was able to run with it?

Seeing JT walk down that dark staircase utterly dejected after being woken up and berated by SB was heartbreaking.

And her “documentation” videos did nothing but document how controlling SHE was in that relationship.

“Go for a walk! Now!”
“You are disgusting! I don’t love you. I don’t like you. I don’t want to be with you.”

One thing these videos make absolutely clear is that SB was most certainly 100% NOT afraid of JT. She talked down to him like a misbehaving child with every single word she uttered in his direction.

Isn’t it ironic that the most damning evidence against her are the videos she created to lord over him?

BSS was discussed in at least 1 if not more motion hearings. The judge ruled that BSS could NOT be addressed by the Defense until The Overt Act was introduced (and ruled upon that it qualified). The latter did indeed happen during trial as Sarah changed her testimony from all previous statements and introduced the supposed overt act and the judge then allowed it. The prosecution was aware that Sarah was evidently going to change her story but couldn't really do anything until she actually did change it just in case she and the defense changed their plan.

I think unfortunately this is typical behavior of those being abused. They lose their voice out of fear of retaliation from their abuser (which is often a real fear). It may be even more difficult for men to speak the truth do to statistics and stereotypes.

Yep. Speaking of lording over, didnt she write about having god on her side in a couple of her unhinged letters? If there was any divine intervention in this case it was not remotely for her benefit.

Last night at the end of the prior thread sasha17 posted this court filing by the prosecutor against Owens/team and jury consultant.
NewsNation Ashley Banfield addresses it with guest.
Did they get Movie/book rights?
Documentary?

"SBM. Did you see the motion the state filed on Monday on this exact topic? Basically, Sarah Boone is indigent, having costs (actually only investigator Billy Lane) being paid by the court. "The Defendant has secured the services of four attorneys and a jury/trial consultant — and perhaps more people that the State is unaware of at this time."

It goes on: "The defense team is expending a tremendous amount of costs having traveled from Milton, Florida to Orlando, Florida for a several week trial. The team returned to Milton, Florida prior to the arrival of Hurricane Milton in central Florida and then travelled back after it had passed — incurring additional costs."

And their point is: "The State is concerned about a potential conflict of interest between the Defendant and her team... The only way for the Court to know if there is an actual conflict of interest, rather than a potential conflict of interest, is to review the financial arrangements between the Defendant and her team."

The state's request is for the court to look into this and figure out what's going on. No filed response from the defense or the court yet, and I haven't heard this brought up at all during the trial.'

Catching up on watching the trial. This chick is bananas. I've always thought Sarah has a serious alcohol problem and was blacked out when Jorge died. I thought she really had no idea she filmed what she did (or she would have at least made an attempt to delete it before she called them).
But It looks like she just tortured this man constantly. Literally to death.
I hadn't even considered what someone else here posted - that she bullied him into the suitcase, sat on it and beat on him as she zipped it up, then beat at his hands when he tried to get out. That scenario never even occurred to me.
Watching these scenes she chose to film...where she clearly thinks she's the victim...I could totally see that. She certainly seems to have done this with purpose.
She really should have taken the plea deal.

I saw very little of it today but has the state said anything about leaving someone in a suitcase because you are fearing for your life makes no sense?

She let him die instead of removing herself from the ‘terrifying’ situation. Was she still going to be terrified after she let him out?
‘I guess I will let you out now, I’m no longer terrified. I just needed you to be in the suitcase while I was working through my terrors.

I don’t think that has been brought up enough. I can’t think of any other case where the ‘terrified’ person, who was able to easily get out of harm’s way decided to stay on the property with the person that they were terrified of. That should be central to the decision.

It’s very simple. You feel scared, so you leave. Is that not central to the case?
