I will NEVER understand how a parent can take the life of their child. Unconditional love in this situation does not exist.

Devastating news and I'm absolutely heartbroken for that precious angel baby.

LS not remembering anything is convenient considering she is the prime suspect in her son's death. She supposedly remembers seeing the door open and that he was gone but nothing else? I don't believe a word that comes out of her mouth as far as her children are concerned.

LE may be waiting to bring charges once his body is recovered. I pray that it is so that he may be laid to rest and bring closure to those that did love him.

Well I don't buy it, especially if she was the one to text the BS at 5:29. JMO If she awoke to find the baby dead, not remembering what happened, at least in my case if I really didn't know what had happened, I sure hope my first urge would not be to throw him in the trash. Not dissing your ideas LauraAnne, just that it makes me so angry. It's the going in and out of a block out, ie allegedly hurts the baby, plans (imo) to start the coverup, gets rid of the body, and then can't remember. But we still don't know what her story is yet, I guess.

TIMELINE UPDATE

With MomLS now being named a suspect, I pulled in some pertinent FB posts she'd made to help fill in some timeline gaps, as well as updating with last night's announcement.

MY NOTES/OBSERVATIONS:
Regarding the strange timing of things last night: I suspect that CCPD privately informed Q's guardians (grandparents) last night about the evidence they had found, intending to release an update to media in the morning, but with the family leaking the info to the media, CCPD felt they had to confirm that publicly to avoid more social media chaos. Naming MomLS as "prime suspect" may have been a subtle warning/reminder to the family that LE is not yet done with their investigation -- that this case is far from over. MOO.

But today I need to write about my feelings. My dauther is born in January 21, same age as sweet Quinton. I'm absolutely devastated. How can a mother do this??? Not that it matters, but 20 months is such a wonderful age. The way they're talking, walking, loving to cuddle, laughing, imitating their bigger siblings....

I agree it does seem unlikely, considering SOMEONE hid the body pretty effectively. I'd believe it a little more if the body were lying in his crib, or in the backyard, etc.

If she didn't remember, why would she dispose of his body and concoct a story?.
If she woke up and found him dead,with no obvious sign of injury, she would call and ambulance,no?. And likewise,if she woke and found him dead,obviously injured, would she not call police and look to the two other adults reported to be in the house at the time?. Look for someone to blame?.
If she woke up and found him missing,and the door open, why would she not be outside the home calling her child's name,knocking on doors, screaming for help?.
No, she knows what happened and she is clutching at straws, hoping she can convince someone other than her Mum that she blacked out. I don't think she can.

My guess is that apparent wedding ring, and the use of the probably-by-now-ex-bf's last name in her social media, are both as big lies as everything she claims she can't remember about little Quinton's death. JMO

Yes. An EX convict can. It varies by state but most stipulate if they haven't been convicted of felony child abuse, neglect or any other felony which represents an unbroken pattern of behavior that could endanger a child. With many types of felony conviction - If they have served their time then demonstrated they have reformed and show no relapse into criminality for however may years thereafter - An individual is eligible for a risk assessment screening (<--not sure if this is the right terminology). There are people in this world who have turned their lives around and I personally don't believe they should be excluded from the chance to be a positive role model for a child who needs one.

So far everything we've had to read indicates that this grandparent was not a foster parent, she was a grandparent with custody.

If a prospective foster parent has a criminal record, it's evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Sure, someone who had a DUI back in 1995 and who subsequently completed alcohol/drug treatment and has lived without further criminal activity since then could very well be certified as a foster parent if they meet the other criteria. Someone who was released from jail in 2021 for armed robbery and rape will most likely not be approved. There is no broad yes/no answer.

Transfers of custody are not necessarily overseen by the local district. People can transfer custody to other people for a variety of non-nefarious reasons (I had custody of my niece for a year so she could attend school in a specific district) without any need for CPS/DCFS involvement. If the transfer of custody happened as a result of a CPS investigation, then yes, that arrangement would be overseen by the local district and there would most likely be court-ordered stipulations that required the parent(s) to engage in whatever services are recommended for reunification to occur.

Home visits get done (I'm assuming you mean by CPS/DCFS) if merited -- if no one took the time to report suspected abuse or it's a situation where there is no abuse, then there is no reason for these agencies to be in that family's life. There has to be a reason that initiates CPS involvement in a person's life.

It's popular to blame CPS for people abusing their children, but that's because it's really uncomfortable to hold ourselves responsible for creating a world where everyone turns a blind eye because they are so focused on themselves and whatever fad or cause is being promoted at the moment. It's gotten so easy for people to see something or hear something and ignore it, then tsk-tsk that CPS didn't do anything about it (and if we put the focus on CPS, then no one will notice that we also stood by and did nothing...) We've created an environment where it's okay to live in any way that we choose, because personal freedom, you know, yet people seem to expect that CPS and LE are omniscient and should be there to catch these people before catastrophe erupts. That's not real life, and it's never going to work that way.

Haven't thought this completely through yet, but the only scenario I can think of where events have played out like they have and LE hasn't made an arrest of its purported 'Suspect Number 1", is if 'Suspect Number 1' is actually not 'Suspect Number 1' and was announced by LE only to pressure her into talking about what really happened and who did it. Because if 'Suspect Number 1' hadn't left the house until yesterday (according to reports and pictures), then it is unlikely she has been formally interrogated and is probably refusing altogether. So she likely hasn't made any admissions or delivered to them directly anything that they could use.

So, IMO either someone sold her out or they are applying pressure for her to talk. If someone sold her out, and the evidence lined up with said selling out, she would be in custody. <modsnip>

I believe LS and DY were both interrogated for long hours in the early days. I think yesterday was just the first time she's left the house on her own.

The mom's behavior appears to be that of a drug addict. She sleeps late, doesn't take care of her kids and so forth. Grandma's description that her daughter is usually good but sometimes makes bad choices suggests that LS may have long struggled with drug addiction. If high at the time, she could easily have hurt the child - physical violence or accidental overdose. On the other hand, if that were the case, she would likely need help with the cover-up. It's possible the death could have occurred the night before and she sobered up the next morning and tried to create an alibi, but that would require either the BF lying about seeing Q at 9 AM, or some complex ruse that tricked the boyfriend.

Unfortunately, it would be very easy to put a small child in a black plastic bag and put it in a trash container and the sanitation workers would never see anything out of the ordinary.

While we await the press conference, did anyone else notice LS wearing a wedding band when she left the home yesterday? Do we know if/when she and DY may have had a ceremony (assuming she married DY, of course)? There's a reason behind my curiosity.

Someone posted this yesterday, mentioning that in regards to someone not having to testify against their spouse, it doesn’t include acts against minors IIRC. I’m summing that up terribly, sorry, I don’t remember all of the legal terms.

Yes. An EX convict can. It varies by state but most stipulate if they haven't been convicted of felony child abuse, neglect or any other felony which represents an unbroken pattern of behavior that could endanger a child. With many types of felony conviction - If they have served their time then demonstrated they have reformed and show no relapse into criminality for however may years thereafter - An individual is eligible for a risk assessment screening (<--not sure if this is the right terminology). There are people in this world who have turned their lives around and I personally don't believe they should be excluded from the chance to be a positive role model for a child who needs one.

I will be surprised if "Suspect Number 1" has not have been arrested and charged with murder, by the time of today's 1pm pressor. She and her bf were interrogated for several hours a few days ago, and I am sure she has been interrogated again, perhaps for several hours yesterday or last night. I'm guessing he has been cleared, and LE has plenty of evidence to help her remember what she had done. JMO

In less than 12 hours Quinton went from the caring arms of his babysitter to a landfill. Hopefully Leilani will have many years in a prison cell to remember what she did the night she murdered him.

IMO the need to hide Quinton’s body instead of calling 911 means there’s forensic evidence that his death wasn’t an accident. MOO

I cant get past the delay in reporting him til the DM (sitter) prompted that call by showing up and offering to help look. That was after 9am. I can't help think that delay was meant to not report him until garbage pickup on the block had been completed. I am very interested int eh cell data obtained on both LS and DY movements in the 24 hours before Q was reported missing.
