Identified! GA - Ware Co., BlkFem Child 15UFGA, 2-4, in cement-filled suitcase, Dec'88 - Kenyatta Odom

This looks like a good possibility to me - what do you guys think??

Kimberly Boyd - 2 years old; missing since 4-3-1987 from Walterboro, SC.

"Kimberly was last seen with her mother, Sarah W. Boyd, and Linda McCord, traveling in a vehicle through Dorchester County after leaving a gospel singing in Walterboro, SC. Their vehicle was found abandoned."

Here is a link to Kimberly's case on NAMUS as well as the UID female found in Waycross, GA

Here is a comparison I did of the UID's reconstruction pictures and a picture of Kimberly.

I actually submitted Kimberly back in November. I was unaware of the thread.

The only response I received was:

Thank you for the information. We have passed it along to our call center who will take a lead and forward to law enforcement investigating Kimberly’s case.

Thanks Tabacue - it would be helpful if they would at least let the public know if she had been ruled out. Let us know if you hear anything else.

I will. This is only the 2nd one I have ever submitted so not real sure if I did it correctly. :waitasec:

I submitted this case by email to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) today as well... sometimes it just takes getting to the right person!!! It just seems like such a good match! If they have ruled it out, then that should be posted on NAMUS, etc. I can't move on until I know if Kimberly has been excluded. Stay tuned.... If I don't get a response back from GBI, then I will go to South Carolina and work that angle from Kimberly's case.

Unidentified Black Female Child
Discovered in the Millwood area of Ware County, Georgia on December 21, 1988
Cause of death is unknown. Death occurred 1-2 months before discovery.

Vital Statistics

Estimated age: 3 years old
Approximate Height and Weight: 2'8-3'1"; 23-27 pounds.
Distinguishing Characteristics: Curly black hair and brown eyes.
Dentals: There were slight gaps between her baby teeth.
Clothing: The victim was wearing white pajama pants, a diaper and and a white, knit pullover shirt with a red pony emblem in the upper left chest area. She had brightly colored bows in her hair.

Case History

The victim's body was wrapped in a brown baby blanket. The body was placed in a gym bag, then a cement-filled metal suitcase. The suitcase was wrapped with silver duct tape, encased in a plastic sheet and hidden inside the television console nailed shut with plywood and placed at an isolated Ware County garbage dump.
The child had been dead one to two months prior to discovery. An autopsy was inconclusive because of the decomposition of her body. Investigators also don't know if she might have been alive when sealed inside the suitcase.
A logging truck driver who stepped into the woods to relieve himself discovered the girl's body when he became curious about an old television console laying nearby. The console broke open when he kicked it over - revealing a black metal suitcase hidden inside.

This is my first WebSleuths thread, I hope I've done it right, feel free to alter/delete if anything is wrong.

doenetwork has her listed as up to 3'1" which is closer to the average age for a 4 year old.

I found an old thread on a forum I'm not a part of that suggests that in a conversation with the NCMEC, the UID could be as old as 4 years to 8 years:
http://officialcoldcaseinvestigations.com/showthread.php?t=4085&page=2

That would make Alisha Smiley a possibility, close on age, right description, right state, both with gaps in their teeth:

http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/s/smiley_alisha.html
http://www.nampn.org/cases/smiley_alisha.html

I've just submitted this possibility and asked them to look again at the age of the UID.

Someone has to miss her! She was dressed nicely and they took the time to put bows in her hair...I wonder if her mom is dead somewhere too?

I'd agree with you.

The slightly careless disposal of her body makes me think the killer might have been a boyfriend of the mom or a stepdad to the girl- who most probably moved after disposing of the suitcase.

Also- if this Ware County dump was isolated, it is most probably a local person! A non-local might have picked a dumping site further away. Just my speculation.

How serious were parental abductions then? I mean, if her father took her, would the cops have filed a missing persons report? Or just considered it a family issue?

It would have varied -- some areas took it very seriously and others didn't.

eta: I notice that there's additional contact information for this child in the "circumstances" section of the Namus entry https://identifyus.org/cases/5288. Maybe Kimberley Boyd should be resubmitted to them, since it doesn't sound like the earlier submission was taken very seriously.

Still looking online for a list of girls ruled out. Anyone have any updates?
