Holly Bobo's Remains Have Been Identified

Thanks, Foxfire...

Wow! Gag order trumps ID of deceased...

What if the remains belong to someone other than Heather... Doesn't THAT family (who is not bound by a gag order) deserve to know who the remains belong to?

I am puzzled....:waitasec:

Just thinking on this, perhaps because they want to see the reaction of possible suspects?

Eta: would love to know the reaction of those sitting in jail right now to the news of this find.

:( My heart dropped when I saw this a few mins ago.

No one is mentioning who the other missing person in Decatur the remains could be. Here's an article about Kristie Baugus missing since Oct. 1999. Oddly, another Pearcy family member was looked at in her disappearance.
Rumor has it her body was scattered along I40 and other such tales. Honestly, I hope this is Holly so her family can put her to rest. jmo

:seeya: Morning Y'all !

Checking in for updates ...

JMO but I sure hope TBI/LE is keeping an eye on ALL the A's -- the ones in :jail: and SA who is NOT in :jail: -- to see IF they are squirming or have any type of reaction at all ... But then again, they will probably NOT react as they are all a bunch of cold-blooded, career criminals !

JMO and :moo:

:( My heart dropped when I saw this a few mins ago.

Mine did too, but then it soared bc someone will be getting answers, even if it isn't the bobo family.

What would finding her remains do to the trial and it's timeline?

:fence:
Kind of grotesque question, but, does anyone know how long it would take a human skull to decomp all the flesh and tissue (basically just leaving bone) if-there was no animal interference? I realize out in the forest there most definitely were animals helping the decomp process; but I was just wondering about telling the length of time that bone might have been out there. If they can tell it has been out there at least 3 years, I would think that might help in identifying/or eliminating a missing person who ha been gone less time than Holly. Just a random thought I had. Thanks for any help.

It would take less than one year. So the skull could belong to Holly or the other missing lady.:fence::gaah:

They mentioned her name in this article - just saw it:

http://www.jacksonsun.com/story/new...ab-law-enforcement-wait-for-results/15284685/

Byrd said the possibilities as to whom the bones could belong are wider than one might suspect, even someone homeless passing through the area who might have died.

Byrd said the only other person missing from Decatur County besides Bobo is Kristie Baugus Moon who disappeared in October of 1999.

Monday the Sheriff's Department guarded the scene for the TBI. Once forensic experts are finished, Byrd said, the area will probably be released from his supervision.

(google maps shows it under 6 miles walking, maybe an ATV)

I think it would only take a matter of months to decompose. It's not just animals, but insects and heat in the summer months. It has been over 100 degrees several times just this year. Any creature will decompose down to the skeleton quickly in the forest. And if the leaves fell on the body, or it was buried, that would speed things up, even in the winter months.

Thanks. Glad the 2nd person was named. On the other forum, there are even more names being brought up.

From your link

"I certainly wouldn't want to speculate on what the timeline might look like," he said. "But we're confident that we'll be able to get answers based on the remains that we've been able to find. It's just a process of trying to determine exactly what we have."

Byrd said local law enforcement is waiting like everyone else.

"We just have a skull and a few bones, and that's it," he said.

So they have found more remains. Good.

The discovery of the skull found in a remote wooded area near the family home of Zach Adams, one of the prime suspects in the murder and kidnapping of Holly Bobo, have raised hopes that her remains have been found. Bobo disappeared from her home in 2011.

Dry/Skeletal:
This phase is the last measurable stage of decomposition. The timing of this stage varies widely by environment. For example, a body in Florida in July (hot/humid) may reach this stage in a week while in the Winter in the Rocky Mountains (cold/arid) it might take months. If there is any skin left it will be leather-like and very tough. Mostly the body is reduced to bones and connective tissue. There is no biomass available for diverse insect colonization. Some beetles and adventitious insects may colonize a body for shelter or feeding on other insects and connective tissue. Over time the bones may “bleach” (turn white) with exposure to sunlight and eventually will begin to exhibit cracks after several years. These weathering cracks are distinctive and would not be confused with a fresh break (injury) unless by an inexperienced analyst.

Temperature and insect activity followed by animal predation all factor into how quickly the body reaches the phase of skeletalization
