Police originally said the students were found in a Moscow house that had been converted into apartments. Property management company Team Idaho Real Estate & Property Management told the Idaho Statesman that was not the case. The company said the entire home was being rented under a 12-month lease that began June 5.

Latah County Coroner Cathy Mabbutt told the Spokane, Washington-based television station KXLY that her preliminary investigation showed the students were stabbed to death. There is no indication that substance use was involved in the deaths, Mabbutt said.

Latah County Prosecutor Bill Thompson said he understands that the police claims that the public isn’t at imminent risk seems contradictory to the facts that have been released so far about the killings.

“Obviously, there’s no way police can say that there’s no risk, but what they’re seeing indicates that there’s not a risk that this person will randomly attack people,” Thompson said, noting that it’s also not yet clear if it was one attacker or more.

“I don’t think they’re going to foreclose the possibility that it could be one or more people, but right now they don’t know who is responsible,” Thompson said.

It was only after 1981 when the roof acquired a silver coating, probably when a new roof was installed. A one-car garage was in front of the house until some time after 2007, according to Google SV.

I was curious how far this house was from Greek Row- turns out very close.

Xana was a junior from Post Falls majoring in marketing in the College of Business and Economics. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority.

Madison was a senior majoring in marketing in the College of Business and Economics. She was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority and was from Coeur d’Alene.

Kaylee, from Rathdrum, was a senior majoring in general studies in the College of Letters, Arts and Social Sciences. She was a member of the Alpha Phi sorority.

Officers responded to a call about an unconscious person shortly before noon Sunday and discovered the four bodies, Moscow police said in a news release.

“All I can say is the deaths are ruled a homicide at this point, and homicide and murder are synonymous,” Moscow police Capt. Anthony Dahlinger told the Idaho Statesman. “We certainly have a crime here, so we are looking for a suspect.”

Dahlinger declined to characterize the deaths as violent, and Bt, the Latah County coroner, told The New York Times the deaths were not a murder-suicide.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call 208-882-COPS.
