GUILTY ID - Taryn Summers, 8, sibs Tristan Sexton 17 (MISSING 10/1) & Taylor 14, safe, 15 Apr 2021 *arrest

CS was initially arrested on murder charges which were later dropped. She's been bound over for trial on lesser charges so that still leaves the question of who murdered this precious child?

This case is already making me queasy. Taryn looks so much like one of my own grandkids. Who stuffs a child in a garbage bag?:(

MassGuy is right in his tagline. The real monsters in this world are not the ones under the bed.

We may not know how Taryn died, but she ended up in Connie Smith’s car in a trash bag. And she degraded Taryn with the story of why she cut out the rug.

I count Connie Smith among the PYSIH.

An ISP trooper found the keys to the Lexus hiding above the kitchen cabinets of Smith’s home. Detectives then opened the backdoors of the Lexus when they found a trash bag. Inside the bag, troopers discovered the body of a child that DNA tests later confirmed was Taryn.

“I saw … the profile of what I thought looked like a young child’s face. It had light hair and the complexion of the skin was very pale and the lips, what seemed to me, were blueish in color. I immediately thought that it was the body of Taryn Summers,” a trooper testified.

Prosecutors also believed the Lexus was not actually broken down the day Taryn disappeared because a daycare worker testified Smith dropped off kids in the black car. Prosecutors allege Smith tried to hinder investigators from finding Taryn’s body by placing the keys in a hard-to-find place above the kitchen cabinets.

The preliminary hearing also touched on a piece of carpet cut from Taryn’s room. According to investigators, Smith said Taryn had defecated on the carpet and with the carpet cleaner broken, she thought to cut it out. Smith then said she burned the carpet in a burn pile outside.

Could homicide charges come back for CS, perhaps pending a grand jury decision? Or once dropped, are they gone for good?
CS was arraigned following a prelim hearing so I don't see murder charges brought back. We didn't hear much from the coroner in the way of facts or her cause of death so I think the autopsy will probably be revealing.

McIntosh testified in court that he responded to the report of a runaway at Connie Smith’s property in Emmett on April 12. He said that she told him that she had entered Taryn’s room about 4 p.m. that day to offer her snacks before leaving to offer food to the other children in her home.

In his testimony, McIntosh said that Smith had told him she had custody of Taryn, and had “adopted her, or something like that.” In a probable cause affidavit, signed by McIntosh and obtained in April by the Statesman, Smith is identified as the grandmother of “TS,” who was found inside the Lexus.

Smith told McIntosh she returned to Taryn’s room around 5 p.m. and found her absent. The girl was reported as a runaway around 7 p.m., McIntosh said.

During his testimony, McIntosh added that Connie Smith told him Taryn Summers had, at some point, defecated on the carpet in her room. Unable to clean it up, Smith said she had cut out the carpeting and burned it in her backyard, he said. She also said she could not find the keys to the Lexus, which was parked out front.

After extensive search efforts in the neighborhood to locate Taryn over multiple days, on April 15 a patrol sergeant with the state police located an assortment of keys that were on top of a cabinet next to the kitchen sink in Smith’s home, according to his testimony. One of the keys opened the Lexus.

Brother of Idaho girl found dead in grandma’s car reported missing again - East Idaho News

The Idaho Missing Person’s Clearinghouse reports 17-year-old Tristian Conner Sexton was last seen on Oct. 1 in Twin Falls. Sexton is the older brother of 8-year-old Taryn Summers, who investigators found dead in Gem County back in April.

According to Tristian’s missing person report, the teen was supposed to be on a bus for a football game but he left in an unknown car. Officials say it’s not clear where Tristian would have gone.

Taryn is not the only sibling of Tristian to tragically die this year. KTVB reported in July that 15-year-old Taylor Summers drowned during a swimming incident in the Snake River.

Tristian was last reported seen wearing blue jeans and a Lighthouse Christian School blue football jersey. He is described as 5’10” and 180 lbs.
