Found Deceased IL - Ambrose Monye, 28, UC med student, Chicago, 21 April 2016

<Respectfully snipped by me for brevity>

I am not sure if the same rules apply to Ambrose since he is attending a medical school in Mexico, but "Match Day" was March 18th this year, so under normal circumstances, he should have known where he was going to be doing his residency by now ....

AND one does not start out in a cardiology residency- they have to do Internal Medicine FIRST!

(snipped)
Joseph Monye noted his brother was preparing to take the second part of his U.S. medical licensing exam

Monye's last purchases were $75 worth of groceries and a Kaplan study book.

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2016/05/04/chicago-med-students-disappearance-baffles-police-family.html

With "fresh groceries" and the Kaplan study guide purchases, it doesn't sound like he intended to run off from his current path.

I wonder if there is a possibility that Ambrose was taking some kind of mental performance enhancing drugs to give him a competitive edge (e.g., Adderall). I read that he "is not in need of any medications" (http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/...l-missing-from-south-side-20160429-story.html), but from what I understand it is not unheard of for med students to take to help them focus and study better. Misuse of the med could cause problems with his thinking and health, could it not?

Trouble with this thought, however, is that his brother said he sounded normal the day before--joking around, even.

If he had his cellphone with him, wouldn't they be able to do remotely locate the phone these days? Tracking apps, or something.

What could have happened to Ambrose? So troubling.

$7K REWARD

And I'm wondering if Jackson Park Hospital has weighed in on their missing med student. I am leaning toward this being another case of a student who is NOT graduating but cannot bring themselves to let family down. KWIM?

Come on home Ambrose- your family loves you and misses you!

This article got me thinking.

http://www.mychinews.com/uncategorized/where-did-ambrose-monye-vanish

It says
"his routine was from Jackson Hospital to the library and back to his apt."

And his brother says he found on 4/24 in the apt that the
"reading lamp, air conditioning unit and standing fan"
was turned on.

If those things were on in his apt, do you think we might conclude that he did make it back to his apt after being seen walking towards the library around 7pm on 4/22? Also, is it strange to have found both the a/c unit and standing fan running? Looking at a weather page for the month of April, http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/chicago-il/60608/april-weather/348308 the temp highs for 4/22 was 58 and for 4/23 was 60. However, on the 24th the temp high jumps to 80 degrees.

His brother goes to the Ambrose's apt on the 24th. Doesn't it seem more likely his brother (Ambrose) was there until the 24th and turned on the a/c and fan due to the 80 degree temps? I don't know Chicago weather--I know it's humid there, so do people turn on the a/c even in 58-60 degree weather? I live in a dry climate, so people don't do that here, generally.

His brother mentioned that Ambrose still needed to take the USMLE Step II. Usually, that's a requirement for graduation. If he took that exam and failed it, then he is probably not on track to graduate on time. His school is an international one, so the requirements may be a little bit different.

Has any security footage, stills, etc? been released from where he was last seen walking? from his apt to library etc? There must be surveillance of some type. Thx.

I noticed the following in this article just now:

"Joseph Monye said that alarm bells started to sound after his brother missed an important phone call with their mother planned for Saturday, April 23."

And Ambrose was last seen the day before the phone call was to take place, on April 22. With everything I have read so far, I gather that he was under a tremendous amount of pressure ... :(.

Another was found in the same area on April 24th. (about 6 miles down the lake)

Monye’s family has announced a $7,000 reward for information on his whereabouts. Raul Montes, a community activist working with the Monye family, said to the Hyde Park Herald that the reward gives an incentive for people to give information that could lead to an arrest.

(...)

Around 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 8, a man’s body was recovered from Lake Michigan at Promontory Point. However the body could not be identified, and the police do not yet have reason to believe that it is Monye.

I'm curious about the arrest part- there's really no evidence of a crime, right?

I interpret this as an indication that the family does not believe that Ambrose would take his own life and that they (the family) think his disappearance must be the result of foul play.

Friends and family distribute flyers on 53rd Street, Saturday, May 7, and ask people if they have any information about his missing brother Ambrose Monye.
